- Wow...what a show "Your Hit Parade" was during its prime years with Dorothy Collins, Gisele MacKenzie, Russell Arms, Snooky Lanson, Raymond Scott & Ray Charles! Although always associated with Lucky Strike, there were alternate sponsors...here's the Crosley opening to the October 17, 1953, live telecast over NBC-TV and the wonderful Dorothy Collins singing that week's #3 hit, "Crying in the Chapel."
I never realized how good Dorothy Collins was until I heard her sing this beautiful and inspiring song.
I always loved Dorothy. What a great voice. She would also be popular today.
Yeah Baby! Dorothy is great! I like this version.
I had an unbelievable crush on Dorothy Collins I never missed a Hit Parade. SIGH!
If you see any Dorothy Collins on C.D. grab it. You can't do wrong. She did some fabulous albums for Coral, specifically "Dorothy Collins Sings" and "Picnic," which is an album of songs by Steve Allen. You'll be surprised how musically sophisticated Dorothy's albums were.
I have a lot of Hit Parades and am always seeking new shows to trade for ones from my collection. I was absolutely in love with Gisele MacKenzie, found Dorothy Collins to be so gifted, and the fellas from the show were tops on the show!
This was filmed on my birthday Oct 17th.. well sometime before my birthday hehe. Beautiful dress and song.. Dorothy is always perfection!
Dorothy Collins was a child star in her native Canada with quite a different face from what we knew later (ditto Florence Henderson, who looks almost nothing like she looked when she first emerged from Indiana). Dorothy was a superb singer from the get-go and her gifts simply grew through the years.
The Greatest Gospel Song of All Time.
This is Just Lovely and Thanks For Putting This Clip Here.
QUE LINDO!
Hi Super:):) (POLAND)
The Ray Charles spoken of is the OTHER Ray Charles, as in The Ray Charles Singers.
