Interesting, that they see clearly that having too many goats is destroying their environment, but they continue doing it anyway because they want to get as much money as possible.
On the other hand how many goats do you need to satisfy all your basic living needs (clothing, meat, shelter)? And the land will feed them for free if you don't overuse it. It's better to return to your roots and have a simple life in the harmony with the nature for thousands of years then destroying the environment in a matter of decades for money.

honestly as smb who has enough money to sit and watch a documenatry on the net, i think we dont deserve to critisize them for surviving on the only opportunity they have. modern life is still infinitely more polluting with its fast fashion, consumerism etcetera

@@MB-tj7xh Money are not for surviving - it's for acquiring something extra, what your environment doesn't provide naturally.

Look up about how to do permaculture to help the land keep its water. Look up Geoff Lawton from Australia. This will help, I promise.

Is there such a thing as fairtrade cashmere where the mongolian herders get a fair price that allows them to feed their family?

yes, the manufacturer Ezio Foradori has a Shepard Project where they are trying to fund and protect shepards, encouraging shepards to focus on quality - not quantity. I would check out the about us on the website, but at the moment it is all in German. There are also NGO's in mongolia such as AVSF (french) who are working on this.
