Carly's Scary Crash At Coos Bay Speedway....(Sprint Car)

- Night #2 of ISCS Week of Speed kicked off from the Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, Oregon. Carly Holmes (my younger 14 year old sister) had a great night at the track until she was involved in a scary crash in her sprint car in turns 1 and 2. Carly was ok and able to climb out under her own power. We will repair the car and get ready to compete in the next 5 nights of competition to finish out Speedweek with the 22C.
The Coos Bay Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt track located in Coos Bay, Oregon.

This is why everytime you unload that racecar you have to accept the fact that you can write the whole deal off that night. Nothing she could have done any different in that situation. It's racing and it happens sometimes. Glad she's doing ok.
Tough luck! That car looked good and Carly looked confident and was working through that field! Tough luck but the car is fixable glad to see you safe and keeping your spirits up. Keep ripping kid, you're gonna be something special!!

The aggression at the beginning was awesome to see. Looked like she wasn't scared to give those other drivers a tap when need be. Nice to see that both of yall help out with the car when there is an issue

You can tell that tannar loves his sister,just the scared Niss of his voice when the cars hit you can hear that he truly loves his sister and will protect her.
I agree 100%. I've said many times, that, as a parent, I love the relationship those 2 have. Honestly, it's heart warming to see them both support the other.

Most impressive to me (other than Dad's speed down the straightaway and that hard left turn ) was Carly working on the car as soon as it got back to the pit. That girl is a racer. No ifs ands or buts.. she is a Racer.

I noticed your dad . It was not just a driver it was his baby out there. I am glad she is ok looked like she had no where to go , I know she was going to do good in the main. If those panels are to bent up to repair save them clean them up she can sign them and sell them and make some money tell her she is doing a good job and she will get her A main this week

Yes, not only to they add to traction with down force they act like an air bag when you scuff the shiny side up on the track. I like winged sprints over unwinged sprints by light years.

She went for a gap that disappeared, that's happened to everybody at some stage, and the safety gear is there for exactly that reason. Glad you're okay!

That track is rather like my home track (Archerfield Speedway, Brisbane, Australia), where pretty much every track is a quarter-mile (400 metres).

You have to remember when driving open wheel cars. There are people who have dumped it, and people who haven't, if you race enough its going to happen. Glad shes ok. Good thing she now knows what happens.

Carly was going well, she is progressing great. Unfortunate ending but happy she is ok, crashes happen, any crash you can walk away from and just bolt on new bits is good.
