Thanks for this video. I grew up in Detroit watching Larry Bird with the Boston Celtics when they came to play at the Silverdome. Larry Bird was my dads favorite player. Would you consider posting more videos of the this game. Thank you and bless you.
No they weren't. That Cliff Livingston foul on Bird would have been an ejection today. Nobody played clean back then, just that some played dirtier. But most teams were brutal. If you dared to drive to the basket, you'd go home in a body bag
this tom owens guy was a real hoot with his "moves". i watched every celts game from 1977 through 1987 and can't remember him. detroit must not have kept him around long
@@toscodav nothing at all- just enjoying the clowns of yester-decade NBA. included in that (when it came to celts) was kent benson, tripucka, cureton, laimbeer could only guard parish by injuring him. it was a grand old time
@@postaltraining I wish people like you do some research first before dismissing someone as a hoot or clown. This Tom Owens fellow had a serviceable career in both ABA and NBA... 9,898 total points in 877 total games (ABA+NBA combined) for a 11.3 career ppg. He played from 1971 to 1983, so he was in his last season as an NBA player in this clip. Thanks for posting this- vintage NBA. Bird was all over the place!!
I loved when the cooz would yell " beautiful " after a big bucket by the Celtics
Pre Bad Boys. They were still playing clean. Bird IS the word.🏀

5:58 was a very smart out of bounds play
This is the defensive team that stopped the bulls multiple times. Bird would muuurrrder this modern league..murder charge.
Was that dude at 2:00 crazy. Blocking a BIRD shot!!! Doesn't he know you don't show up Larry and make him mad??
Probably the first and *only* time Bird let "that* happen.
Dec. 4, 1982
Imagine a guy named LAKERSDynasty42 including missed shots and turnovers by Bird on a Bird highlight video.

Owens started his career in the ABA in the early '70s and played as mostly a backup for several teams during his career.
Larry Bird is slicing, dicing and killing Detroit and your focusing on this owens dude? What the fuck the matter with you hommie?
He was playing for Indiana around this time too.
