Dude I wish you were my guitar teacher. I’m 24 and fell in love with the blues a year ago. I’ve been teaching myself how to play

Loved this video ! Every bend was in perfect pitch ! Nothing worse than bending out of tune , nothing better than bending in tune ! Bending and vibrato are the elements that make a guitar have that human voice , gets you in the gut and the heart ! It is what makes Blues the Blues !

Quarter and half note bends are so flavorful. And add a feel that can't be had in any other dynamic IMHO.
    Great stuff man! TASTY😎

Beautiful. Those wilder bends and vibrato that you threw in on the intro reminded me of Danny Kirwan’s playing, like on Black Magic Woman and Jigsaw Puzzle blues.
You look so relaxed when doing it as well. A master for sure.

You are totally right, i think that i need to ditch the really heavy strings for a lighter gauge and play softer with more feel and less painful bends. i really enjoy watching you play. thanks

Oh Kirk, I love the change in dynamic between the delicate, “big” soulful sound and the overtly angry, heavy picking that you just did though! It sounded so good, especially changing up after just a couple of bars, and back again.
I know it was a demonstration of why you prefer example ‘A’, but they went together like corona and lime. Or sour cream and salsa. Or...

Good Saturday morning, sir! That tone! Man... tickle away! 😂
So, yesterday I bought a fender vintera 50's strat in sonic blue... on a wall full of guitars it spoke to me. Right after that... I learned how to count! Hahaha! I found out I was counting 12bar incorrectly with 1,2 and 3,4 instead of 1& 3 and 2 & 4. Changed my whole world!
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to share the love, knowledge& skill of playing the blues. ✌❤🎸

Thank you for the beautiful music. You really make the guitar sing. It's inspiring and educational to hear you play and then get your thoughts on it too. I know this is quite a nerdy question but what strings do you use for this kind of playing that is rich in bending? I mostly play jazz and brazilian but I'm getting into blues more and the 12s and 11s I use are a bit difficult to bend. Just wondering if I should go to 10s or 9s or if it's just a matter of getting used to it/getting stronger. Again thanks - I really enjoy your videos!

Yeah! Playing the softer notes can really convey the feeling of the blues. A special master of that technique was Jimmy Page in “Since I’ve Been Loving You” on zeppelin III and on “Tea For One”. Some of those notes were so light you could barely hear them but you knew they were there! Aw yeah! Love your videos. You talk to us. Thank you!
