Hey Nate, thanks for making this video. I've been browsing around for a new camera lately and I'm pretty much tempted to go for the G3X over the G7X Mark II. Your video is the only one I found that actually gave me the best idea of the camera.
600mm equivalent image stabilized lens, weather sealing and fairly tough with a 1 inch sensor. Just to get the equivalent lens for an apsc camera would cost more than this g3x. You'd need a 400mm is lens " check price" Ok no evf, if you are using on a tripod at extreme angles then an evf or optical viewfinder is useless anyway, unless you want to lie down and take photo's, an articulated screen is what you want. By omitting the evf they've reduced the size, this will annoy some buyers but not all. At the end of the day if you can cope without an evf and want something with these features that can fit in a small bag, go for it.. I have one and love it
Thanks for pointing out it can shoot a still during a video, I use an M3 for most of my videos and in love with that option, I would get the G3x to have the added option of zoom without having to change lenses when time is not on your side, Amazon Uk are doing it at £499 and with canon £40 cashback its looking attractive

Thanks for the review. I hope the G3 X Mark II will have a built-in EVF, fully articulated touchscreen and enough specs to rival seriously other 1" sensor in the same category ... #RX10M4, #FZ2000 or #FZ2500, #FZ1000, #Vlux5, and probably a coming NEW #NikonDL24-500 (rumors).
still don't know if i want this or the gX7 mark II. i'm a photographer and videographer. i have DSLR but am looking for something to carry on me. been using iPhone 6 and love it but either this or GX7. not sure. i love how this has the mic input but GX7 does not. GX7 mark ii goes to aperture 1.8 though. hmmmmm
The image quality on the iPhone is very good for a phone. But what you have to remember is that photos and videos are going to eat up your phones battery and storage really fast.

+Suranga Rajitha Senarathna Hi there! No, the G3X isn't compatible for a Wireless Shutter Release. Those are usually only for full DSLRs. Hope that helps!
nice - can you make a video of the menu system and features - I have the G7X and IQ is nice and lens is nice and it has of course Touch Shutter and Menu - but I am not overly excited about the Menu system - and it lacks features compared to the Sony RX100/2/3/4 - but it has the longer focal range and brighter lens - I would assume the IQ in the G3X is similar or same as the G7X except the G7X has a brighter lens - but of course only 24-100mm - but from F1.8-F2.8 vs F2.8-5.6 but of course a compromise due to long range - I just have never seen the menu system in the G3X -
Can you please help? Im interested in purchasing a camera that takes good pictures along with good video and audio capabilities. I'm stuck between a sony rx100 iv, canon g7x, canon g3x... Please help me decide!! Thanks
Hi Taya! Those are all good cameras, but the Sony RX100 IV is the best camera of the four you mentioned across the board. However, the Sony is also the most expensive camera by a pretty fair margin. So it will depend on your budget. Hope this helps!

why this camera makes rattle noise after turning off the power? is that normal for this type of camera? feedback appreciated.

The only thing that puts me off this camera is the lack of a viewfinder - do you find it an issue at all or is it something that you can get used to?

Bright day so can’t check the ISO range? Has a built in ND filter for just that.
Does it zoom digitally or optically? Does the image quality degrade when it zoom?
