  • Nvs audio reviews the new cicada RR3T high powered 6x9 compression driver .
    These are intended to be used in these scenarios
    1. When you have a mid bass driver in the saddle bags and don’t want the output of the mid bass to distort the 6x9 in the lid
    2. If you don’t want to put a baffle on your 6x9 lid speaker
    ( you can just swap the 6x9 to these with no baffle )
    3. If you just want to add Obnoxiously loud ear piercing highs to your bike . They have a sensitivity of 110 db 😳

    Looks like it's based on a B&C 2" compression driver. Neat!

    The concept is GREAT and will solve a lot of problems. My question is: what frequency will these play at? If they start at 1000hz and up then you still need to fill say from 500 hz to 1000 hz. in the rear. Not many 10's will play above 500 hz.

    Nice. I had the issue of the shallow ground zero 10 sub and my 8 in GZ in my lids. The 10 was pushing the 8 outward

    woofer in same bin must be matched size, simple rule + separation plate is best to be placed inbetween to avoid xross wave contamination. Midds loev close box with lite damping inside and tweeters for PA are compresion drivers and Hi,-Fi dome tweeters oor ribons wich are level up.. Filters are best 2nd order without to excesive components to avoid killing the sound.

    • @WokeYtube
      @WokeYtube ปีที่แล้ว

      I allmoust forgot, midds MUST be reverse faze +- to avoid fazing sound !!

    What would be nice is a sealed back 6x9 or 8" midrange coaxial with that angled plate. That way you add more full vocals than just piercing highs.

    • @robertwolters
      @robertwolters ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still don’t have the air volume. Better to just seal your midbass/sub.

    • @ericperry72
      @ericperry72 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertwolters a sealed back driver doesn't need air space, remember I'm saying midrange, not midbass, so we talking 90hz and up, that eliminates airspace requirement, just proper mounting depth clearance. I see ds18 has a sealed 8" midrange.

    • @NVSAUDIO
      @NVSAUDIO  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 8 inch ds18 sealed back requires a lot of cutting of the inside of the lid to fit .
      No one currently makes a sealed back 6x9 .
      We are working with cicada to build a 8 inch sealed back drop in fit .

    So 1000 for two compression horns
    The angle IMHO is a moot point when you're paying 1k for 2 comp horns
    You can get two prv screen ons w two wave guides for under 200 and run a nagy 6x9 adapter for 75 bucks
    1000.00 vs 275.00
    Your numbers are heavily skewed
    You put the most expensive sealed back up. The db drive and prv sealed back are under 150 for the set.
    You can also run a 150 set prv ti400s if you feel you wanna have your eardrums bleed
    The cicada only plays down to 1000k so you lose all vocals and just get a megaphone w megaphone sq. At least the prv play down to 400
    Only plus for the cicada I see is maybe the membrane in the waveguide and dealer markup on the cicada is very handsome vs prv

      Thank you for the excellent and productive comment 🙏🏼.
      I only compares the cicada and the Beyma setup because they are
      1. 100 percent weatherproof
      The Beyma is carbon fiber and the cicada has a membrane.
      2. They are both bolt on solutions
      No fabrication, no cutting , just screws .
      You are correct
      You can get a abs 6x9 plate and cut a wave guide and screw on any entry level compression driver but
      1. It will get destroyed if it gets wet . Water will collect in the wave guide and destroys the driver .
      2. You have to fabricate the mount ( most people can’t or don’t want to
      I just want to so 2 very simple solutions for a common problem must Harley owners face .
      Every one starts with 6.5 faring and 6x9 lids .
      Now they want to go with 10s but they already have 6x9 holes in the lids .
      Me personally I would seal the bags and go with 8 inch lids
      Or just buy new stock lids and run no lid speakers to give my tens more air space .
      Are the least expensive solution
      Just put baffles on the 6x9s you already have on your lids 🤷🏾‍♂️.
      Thanks again for your excellent comment 👍🏽
