Next time you work with minky fabric toss it in the dryer with very low or no heat with a wet washcloth for 10 minutes and the shedding will be nearly gone. You do a great job!

Scrappy Patch you may have to repeat this process if you make additional cuts of this fabric but it’s totally worth it not to have the shedding

Thank you. Nice Tip Sandy. I've been reluctant to purchase dark minky type fabrics because the of the upkeep and I don't even have pets.

I know this is an old video but I just used the tutorial and it was brilliant. Not overly complicated and as I used patterned material It actually looked so much better than if I had cut 5 sections and fixed together like other videos demonstrated as there were more matching seems with this. Only adjustment I made was to add elastic to the bottom seem to pull tight under the legs. Thanks so much for this!

Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm a beginner at sewing and so far I've made a wonky pin cushion and four baby blankets. I made this ottoman cover with a corduroy material. We have cats and one sits on the ottoman all day and another tries to dig her claws into it so when my husband suggested we make our own, I panicked, did a TH-cam search and found your video. It came out great! Thank you very much!

Ah, thank you for this! This seems like such an easy, well explained tutorial. We have an ugly red and white striped ottoman that I can’t stand. Pair that with 3 kids and it’s just a nasty disaster lol. Completely re-upholstering seemed like way too much work, especially when it would just get completely stained again by messy kids. So this definitely seems like the best and easiest option!! Can’t wait to try it out!

Wow! GREAT VIDEO! Not overly complicated and to the point. Not zillions of panels to sew together which is where I usually make mistakes. I have an old ottoman that I got from a second hand store. It's super ugly, but structurally sound.. Ottomans are so expensive, its just not worth dropping a bucket of money on something my pets are going to destroy. I'm going to use material from a curtain (Upholstery fabric can be very pricey) I wasn't sure how to proceed. Thank You. P.S. You're a good son for sewing this for your Mom.

It looks great, and so easy, the shedding of the fabric could be a problem though, it gets everywhere. When I made one (faux suede) I cut the fabric into five panels and then made pockets. It was tricky matching the corners but I did it!
