@@PaulieAFantoneJays19 He was a hot head on the court and toxic in the locker room. Arguing with coaches and poor chemistry behind the scenes with teammates. I loved the dude on the court. He was just self destructive.
I miss the old days man! That 90s era. The swagger, music, the different characters. I miss it all. It will never be the same and the puzzys of today can never understand it 🤷♂️
Now that was one fitting mixtape soundtrack! Derrick Coleman was one of the most skilled big men on the paint. He was also agile which made him really effective on the inside. These were the good days where big men still had a great time and games were still not all about outside shooting. I miss playing basketball so much more after watching this! Thank you for the awesome career mixtape by the one and only Derrick Coleman. P.S. Ending this video with his poster on Shaq was the perfect finish. LOL
DC was a beast! I never was sure what happened to him Mentally to make his game downshift at one point in his career, but hadn’t not we would be discussing who the best ever was between him and Duncan. That New Jersey Nets squad was on the brink. Had Kenny Anderson developed and Isaiah Thomas stop and pop jump shot, And Petrovic not passed… They would’ve been something to reckon with.
Yeah. Those early net teams were fun to watch. Lots of talent. I agree on Coleman. He was so good, but greatness and longevity is about heart and dedication. Not just great skill.
Revealing one of my failures as a father; My almost 20 year old, had never heard of Derrick Coleman. apparently he is not in 2k. I was describing his game but then decided to pull up a video. Coleman had everything Antetokounmpo has plus range. He was actually smoother in my opinion. Wrong era for his talents.
LJTK exactly. Talented but at the end of the day, I don’t think the potential being a great player meant anything to him. Some guys just don’t work as hard anymore when they reach a certain level and I think that was the case with him.
Jarrel Ely uhhh no. Nothing against Stacey King cause he’s always been a funny guy as an analyst and he did win some rings with the Bulls. But depending on what tribute you’re talking about, my answer is Hell No.
I watched Iverson and a late-career DC destroy Kobe & Shaq in Los Angeles. It wasn't even close. Lessons were taught. I would watch that game again if I could find it.
Had his black and grey suede BK Dymacel shoes back in the early 90's. Remember I put them on Lay-A-Way at swapmeet in Pomona Ca. His game is like a larger Van Exel. L.O must of got his shot from this dude also cause it look similar.
Real true story I met DC aka Derrick Coleman one night in soho night club in the 90's. As I stood up next to him. I taught I was tall but fellas he's a real man child standing at 6ft 10 big and wide. I was like woow, he give me that detroit look and that homie nod walk, as I stand next to him, he was like what's up. Shook his hand and I was like please to meet you DC. At that time he was playing for the new york nets. I'll never forget him. He, me was checking out the honies aka the ladies, on the dance floor lol.💯Game recognize Game. Real true story.💯✌🏾
I fell in love with basketball due to DC-Kenny-Petrovic living in Jersey. DC was the beast. While I think his motor issues are true, I think a good chunk of it was a tragic death of Petrovic. Petrovic was like MJ and Kobe - venomous, ultimate competitor. If tragedy didn’t happen and they kept the trio in tact, the Nets would have contended in the eastern conference.
He had some natural skills and made it look easy. He blew the Orangeman's bid for a national championship when he choked at the free throw line in the closing seconds in 87.
DC was so nice. Him Kenny Anderson and Drazen Petrovic had a nice young trio. Then it fell apart, Drazen died, DC struggled with injuries and weight. Then Kenny broke his wrist playing against the Knicks by John Starks on a dirty play. He wasn't the same player after that.
DC could of been one of the best Power Forward if he did not had so many injuries. I think he had a bit of Tim Duncan and Chris Webber with his passing...
Bigger than Webber, as versatile as KG, Stronger than Duncan, And shooting the 3 before all the power forwards. Should have been a legend
I miss it when power forwards actually played inside - him, Grandmama, Chuck, Mailman, Rainman, Rodman. Those were the days!
He was ahead of his time tho. He could dribble pass and shoot outside for a big man. Just wish his toxic attitude didn't ruin his career.
I agree
@@flynt1977...I don't understand, Coleman played for like 15 years in the league

@@flynt1977 ...But he still lasted 15 seasons in the NBA so it couldn't have been that so *Just my two cents*

That guy has the same mentality than these puzzys lazy underachiever
One of the most gifted players ever
Perfect track to this. 90’s goodness
Dude was talented, should have been an All-Star every year.
Yeah, if it wasn't for his poor work ethic and injuries
Crazy talent. Great post moves, range, handles, nice passer, solid rebounder. That Nets team was a lot of fun.
The dunk on the Shaq was the PERFECT way to end it! Well done.
Kenny.D.C.Jason Williams.petro.Chris Morris.l miss those days
Those Nets teams were fun with Kenny Anderson, Draz and DC.
One of the greatest college players EVER. 6'9" and he could dunk on you with two dribbles from the three-point line.
6'10"
That track, tho
@Phony Mex Right at the end of the Golden Age era of hip hop beautiful days.
Show biz AG💯🔥🔥🔥

90s hip hop wow the memories it brings back as a 19 year old in 95

DERRICK COLEMEN MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PLAYER, AND THE NEW JERSEY NETS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE NBA TEAM, NOT BROOKLYN, NOT THE SAME, SMH!
" DC kick it for three " Drazen Petrovic (1964-1993)
Lefty Demarcus Cousins. If DC worked harder - he would average 30pts, 12 rebs, and 6 asst today
This is where talent doesn’t match effort, this dude should have been one of the all-time greats
I'm here because My Team 2019 😉
A PF that could post and step outside for 3, which was very rare, prior to the mid 2000s.
*Imagine him in this era!*
Demarcus Cousins

More like Demarcus Cousins before the injury

Love Derrick Coleman and love the ball
Excellent stuff..
Love the light blue uniforms of the 90s. Probably best nba uniforms ever.
PandasTushy it was good but not the best
Would love to find me a Orangeman Coleman jersey. Any avenues anybody on a 5x
Damn that wingspan😱💪🏿🏀!!

The best lefty ever, bruh was an animal
DC my favorite player ever he was a beast he could do it all my friends used to call him sleestack like from land of the lost
He kinda played Elton Brand style basketball. Or EB played some throwback DC. Solid and fundamentally skilled.

Great video

This track is phenomenal. Who is that?
Those Nets teams weren’t bad, always a playoff appearance, just couldn’t free themselves from the shadow across 495E .
He was before Zach Randolph (Derrick Coleman)
He sure was more gifted and better than Randolph tho' not even close...in his heydays Im not talking about Sixers end of career Coleman.
Don't like that comparison. Zach was good but a fat boy not Athletic at all and no handles. No passing skills.
Bro had the potential to be the best PF in the league

Can you make a video about Kenny Anderson or ''Mad Max'' Vernon Maxwell please?
Παναγιωτης Βενος what about Kenny Smith?
Part of this beat was used in 8 mile
That's all I could think of during this video
This track is hot
You put Jordan or Kobes work ethic and mindset into derrick coleman and he'd have been the greatest PF of all time. His talent was off the chart
Do you have one of Pete maravich
No one ever mentions this dude. If Vin Baker and Kendall Gill had a baby the would've named it Derrick Coleman.
i’m only watching these bc of clique mentioning he never seen one 😂
dope song
Boogie before Boogie!
Make a Kenny Anderson one pls
My man D.C.👌
Good editing

The Lakers could've used a Derrick Coleman this season
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Had a Charles Barkley type style/game.
What? They didn't really play alike at all.
He is a left handed version of Demarcus Cousins
DC on the "next level" haha
No players like this in the NBA anymore. Everybody wants to shoot 3s. The lost art of the mid range game and post up offense.
what's the name of the song?

All the ability in the world never applied himself! Was lazy.
Wasted talent as soon as he saw the millions he didnt care about his career no more he got content
