  • Rob and I take a Nacra 4.5 for a sail at the Port Douglas Sailing Club. After a week of full cloud and 25+ knts the wind dropped a little, while the low tide gave us sheltered water (if muddy) - perfect conditions to learn what this boat can do.

I had a 5.8NA. My jib leads were along the edges of the tramp. This setup you have is much more convenient when it's not blowing like mad and you're not out on the wire. I sure do miss that boat.

My first and only Cat was a Capercat. I learn't to sail at Runaway Bay Sailing School when I was very young, and now, even at middle age, I miss it when I sold it to move to the country. The Dams are usually too narrow, or are in a valley, and wind speratic/turbulent for sailing. *This design I've had my eye on for a long time, as it's a great boat for shallow waters, stable, and boyant hull, and simplicity over-all. Second hand ones rarely pop up, and I hope one day I can save up and do it all again!!! I hope they never give up on the 4.5 Sports manufactering, it's got to be a classic run of a family sailer! For now I can dream.

Such a light boat ... it's speed seems to change with each puff of wind. Minimum boat = maximum fun:)

Couldn't figure out why your 5.2 was without a bar between the cross pieces and a boom. Also, I was intrigued with the strapless connections between the cross pieces and the hulls. When I noticed that the dagger boards were missing, I realized it was a 4.5. Never saw one before. Nice boat. Hey, why didn't you pick up the kite board?

So great not having to worry about the boom! There is a very brief shot of a SUP board guy who had picked up the lost kite board and was on his way to return it. We just told the kite guy it was on its way back to him,

Cats are quite hard to beat for sheer fun, I sail an RS700 but my Hobie 16 is a much better experience.
