Thank you for all the diy tutorials I have to say I am not a good/ great sewer,( high school home economic skill level, lol) but I've been trying your Diys while improving my sewing skills and now some of your patterns, you make it so much easier to grasp. could there be a chance for a maxi skirt with a long split, or a tutorial on working with chiffon .
I love this dress but the only problem is that we hardly ever get patterns to buy in my country. We usually make our own patterns. But this dress is beautiful & your explanations exquisite. Blessings to you.
I agree about sizing. I'm generally on the cusp of the size split on many patterns, so if I need to go up or down a size afterwards, it can be a challenge. I can't open the pattern in the middle of the store to check the finished measurements. So far, I've done ok.
Bri Woods My fashion school professor always says you're supposed to open the pattern envolpe in the store. That's exactly why they never seal the envolpes. This way you can check to see if the pattern instructions are too complicated. If you're searching for ease it's on the back of the envolpe so you can check the garment's finished measurements before buying.

moonglow1948 -- I literally once asked the local Joann's store if I could try on their sample dress. Got a slightly odd look, but they let me. Based on the envelope I'd be different measurements for bust, thighs, and hips! But turns out I'm a size 10 in Simplicity nonetheless.

Hi, Mimi. I noticed that you didn’t do the 1st step in the direction sheet which was: 1. EASE-STITCH front edge of right bodice front (1) between notches. Why skip this step? And how necessary is it that I follow this step? And, why didn't you? Is there any particular reason?
I also noticed that you didn’t STAY-STITCH the skirt pieces (4), (5), or (6). Is there a reason for this? And how crucial is it that am suppose to do it, if you, Mimi, do not?
Maybe I am loosing it but the instructions never stated to cut the fabric on the right side for any pieces and yet it looks as if you cut it different. Now I have cut up fabric that I messed up. 😒
