Great series. I never met Moy Yat but know people who knew him well. Interesting guy. The Kuen Kuit were very useful.

@Anil Rao That's really a shame. They both died too young. I was taught not just fighting but "Kung Fu life". Wing Chun should ultimately be a quest for the perfection of the self, not the perfection of violence.

I've noticed this as well. No real explanation other than WC reduced to its simplest form.

Why do the other moy yat schools play it differently. Also I see some differences here between the two.

when you learn from the moy yat family you learn moy yats ving tsun kung fu. what we trust as to be an expert interpretation due to his vast knowledge and experience. he excels in other art forms such as chinese calligraphy and seal making and has gone on to immortalize the idioms and maxims in the chops. what matters is HOW he was able to translate and teach the kung fu. yip man, i wont speak on cause its complicated at best though hes not the man you see in the donnie yen movies.

Why do you think it is that Grandmaster Ip Ching/Ip Man do not have the tan gerk or bong gerk in their system or lineage,?

No. I thought it was a cool comparison for reference. I did one for all of Yio Man’s students and a few others.
