- We didn't realize ourselves that the influence of the arctic Benguela current is that big in Namibia. Locals tell us we're even lucky with a couple of warm and very blue days. Perfect conditions to play in the sand before crossing the South Atlantic in the direction of Brazil.
Always a pleasure to watch your episodes! Another great one 😉
You do such a great job Mark & Marijke, again and again!
cheers from Austria!
Danke liefjepiefje ❤️
I never thought I would say this but your channel is the only Sailing Channel that knows how to film and edit properly. I have watched several of your videos and never bored for one second. Thanks for another well informed video !!
Thanks! @SailingUma does a really good job, haven’t watched them for a while
@@CatGreatcircle thank you for the recommendation. They had 420.000 subscribers an hour ago, but now they have 420.001. Looking forward to more of your videos!
@mountainwest3444 😎
@@CatGreatcircle You guys do a great job as other mention! Kudos. Yes, Uma is also noteworthy. Another channel with excellent cinema- photography and editing but in more of a documentary format is Sailing Florence. Enjoy you all! Cheers!
I've worked on over 115 movies produced in Hollywood with some of the most celebrated Directors and your videos are top notch. In terms of Production Value and Editing/Presenting your sailing channel is quite a few echelons above other sailing channels. Us 32.7K Subscribers are the lucky ones. Best kept secret on TH-cam.
You must have seen a lot of them in the meantime. Thanks for your warm words. We’re still enjoying both the life and the capturing of it a lot, I hope it shows and will keep doing so ❤️
Thank you for sharing the video , I have been guiding in Namibia for over a decade , I have never had a laugh like that , it was genuine , i enjoyed every moment with you guys.Rudy😂
Hi Rudy we enjoyed it even more! Still laughing when we think back on our time together 🤣
@@CatGreatcircle ❤️
That was awesome to see with all the dunes and all the different activities you can do.
My daughter and granddaughter are living in Namibia. Recently they moved from Swakopmund to Windhoek. It's such an amazing country. Unspoiled, and I hope it will stay that way.
They need chair lifts over those dunes…thanks for sharing your wonderful lives! 😊
YES!!
Great job guys thank you
That was just another fantastic video from Cat Greatcircle thanks guys!.
Very interesting episode, thank you for sharing.
Excellent!!!!! Wow , a unique country!!!
Thank you for this very nice video in the Dunes of Namibia. It's like in the north west of Madagascar with very nice and wild beaches with high dunes and red landscape too, people are happy to share the beauty of the countryside like in Namibia.
Always great pleasure watching your wonderful video’s. Its a little as if being part of it. Have safe continuation of you crossing. So nice having had a chance meeting you in person in CapeTown. Bye daan and carola
All in one day? Looks like super fun.
Nooo, we were there almost a week
Woah what an adventure! Bless🖖
So good to see you’re having fun in Beautifull Namibia.
We were laughing our ass off
Greetings from the Gold Coast, Australia. I love watching your channel, and for those of us stuck in the 9am to 5pm ‘grind,’ living vicariously through your videos 😀 Your boat looks beautiful, out of interest, in terms of ‘livability/ comfort,’ how does it compare to the Lagoon you had, and how do these cat’s fare in storm conditions in blue water? Do you have any concerns about their ability to survive really bad weather, given how high they sit above the waterline (and therefore vulnerable to wind / waves), and the fact they do not ‘self right’ if they go upside down / turn turtle? Thanks 👍
We chose the Outremer 55 in 2019 based on a piece of paper as it was the first performance cruiser we saw that combined performance and comfort / liveability. All the stuff we had on the Lagoon, we were able to install on the Outremer as well without any significant impact on performance.
I think it’s close to impossible to capsize an O55 without sailing her into a cyclone but the more important issue is that there is no reason whatsoever to end up in conditions where you have to prove it.
In 2,5 years and 30.000 miles the performance of the boat enabled us to choose our weather windows. With an average speed on our ocean crossings of close to 10 knots chances of ending up in storms over 50 knots are slim. Our longest crossing in the Pacific took 13 days, all other ocean crossings 9 days or less.
@@CatGreatcircle thanks mate, how does the average speed of the Outremer compare to the Lagoon?
@robertjfsoper overall the Outremer is 20-30% faster. That’s because when sailing around the world most of the legs are downwind or reaching. Upwind the difference in VMG is much bigger than that, more like 100%
@@CatGreatcircle cheers, sounds like the increased speed is worth the sacrifice. I’ve always wondered with the Lagoons, they look beautiful boats, but they have allot of structure (roof and canopy), that sits quite high off the water. It just doesn’t look like it’s been designed for speed and bad weather like the Outreamer has, it looks more like a coastal cruiser.
Great music.
Spend 100s on a downhill board, but have more fun on your belly on a $10 sheet of plywood!😊
Yes that was fun! Except from walking up the steep side pffff
We plan to sail to Cala Millor in sommer
Looks like the GC Crew burned plenty of calories on these tours, were you guys sore? Great video looks like lots of fun. Thank you.
Yes at least I needed a bit of safety margin to my weight limit. Normally just sailing works as well
where in Brazil are you heading to ? Have a safe journey
First we planned to go to Salvador but most boats would be too late for carnaval anyway and it would mean 500 miles extra / upwind
So now it’ll be Recife (after St Helena and maybe Ascension). As the weather is helping a bit we might be able to arrive in time for Carnaval in Olinda
@@CatGreatcircleYou guys made a good choice switching to Recife. I am Brazilian and enjoyed Recife much more than Salvador; I would bet Recife is safer. Thank you for your videos; we ( husbsnd, son and myself) are planning going sailing in a near future as well, and we enjoy that your channel is drama free!
@sgar123 muito obrigado, let’s hope it stays drama free. We just started the leg from St Helena to Recife. Is Olinda a good choice to go to for carnaval?
excelente choice, are you planning Fernando de Noronha afterwards ? It is really worth it @@CatGreatcircle
@andrebrossel2862 yes!
Did you hear about the woman that spent $$$ on a catamaran so she could sail around the world as quickly as possible in a rush.
Anny? She’s wonderful!
