Nice! I hope you find this helpful in setting up later when it arrives! You can still use the Chocolate with the stomp if you connect them via a TRS to MIDI cable (but you lose the expression functionality).
I dont have an HX stomp but I am using the MVAVE unit for NAM via Gigmaker. I'm using it via usb c so the Bluetooth is not being used at all. Only gripe is the flashing light for wireless connectivity. I've put some duct tape over the led as it was just irritating.
Ah I’ve not tried that software for NAM. I’m currently using Genome and the MIDI implementation is so easy. Are you using the USB-C because the battery has become problematic?
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitarno, the Battery is still working after 6 months, I am running Nam off a Lenovo Thin Client type of PC, I was on the cheapest budget possible so I opted to stick with USB connections rather than getting a Bluetooth adaptor. Everything now fits on the pedalboard along with a few traditional pedals and a Zoom G1x controlled via Arduino to handle most of my modulation. I did take your advice on getting Valhalla.... Cannot believe that plugin is free. So good.
Hi there, unfortunately, if I'm reading the Ampero Mini manual correctly, the unit does not support MIDI in/out, so the Chocolate won't be able to interface with it.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar but i've seen guitarist on youtube using it. problem is they all speaks in Spanish T.T Thanks for responding tho. Appreciate it
I used the Mwave for around 3 years or so. I use it to control tracks on Ableton live. I used it wired to my macbook. I found the bluetooth to be not great, otherwise it has been very reliable. It is kind of a pain to setup initially.
What about the distance you can go with the chocolate? I do play in some small venues where the risk of a beer falling in your equipment is a higher than I feel confortable, so having just the Chocolate with me and my pedalboard behind the drummer, 3 meters away from me, would be perfect, but in my testings it got unstable when I got even 1 meter away. (Not sure if got a bad part or if the chocolate and/or the MIDIA could be the issue and should look to upgrade)
I usually prop the controller next to my unit so I haven’t had the chance to test if distance is an issue. My suspicion is that you’re probably in close proximity to things that can cause Bluetooth disruption like smartphones or wifi antennae.
Hi! I don't think it can work, as the GX-10 doesn't have MIDI in for the wireless MIDI adapter. I suspect their Bluetooth support won't include the Chocolate.
Thank you for this video. I have wireless transmitters from M-vave and really like them. I am considering buying Chocolate to use with Xh-Stoamp XL. Do you think we can use it with a Boss RC5 loop pedal? If so, what can we use it for?
Hi, thanks for watching! I’ve just read the documentation for the RC-5, and if you can find the appropriate 5-pin MIDI to TRS cable, I think you can customise the Chocolate to send PC and CC messages for control over RC-5 functions.
Thanks so much for this video! I’m thinking of getting this controller for my Tonex. Quick/dumb question, how do you connect the foot controller to the wireless receiver connected to the Helix. Was that through a phone app? Sorry I think I missed this. Thanks and God Bless!
Thanks for watching! Sorry I didn’t know what a Widi Jack, had to look it up. I think it should connect, is there a reason you can’t use the Mvave dongle?
Thank you for a great video. I'm a bit too scared to rely on bluetooth connections during live performances. Is it possible to control the HX-stomp via USB? I know you can use a TRS to MIDI cable but I would like to use the an expression pedal in the TRS jack. I've search all over for an answer, but can't seem to find it.
Thanks for watching! What kind of control over USB? If connected over USB to Ableton, you can sync the Stomp to Ableton’s clock source, and send MIDI note triggers to the Stomp for Snapshot and parameter automation.
I was wondering more if the Chocolate can deliver the MIDI-messages to the HX over USB. USB to USB that is. Otherwise I think I need to find a way to go USB from Chocolate to MIDI in on the HX by cable.
Hi, I see you have a morningstar, can the Chocolate Plus be used like a much more basic version? I want to control synths and daw with wirelesd midi, but the Plus also adds a USB host port which I haven't seen on a midi pedal besides morningstar
Hi! Oh I don’t have a Morningstar, that was probably just B roll. I haven’t had the chance to look at the Plus, so learning that there’s USB host capability is cool!
Hey man! Thanks for the video; it helped a lot! What configuration did you use in your HX Stomp to use the expression pedal? The MIDI CC option of the bypass/controller assign tab only allows me to choose from CC#4 onwards, not CC1 or CC2.
Hi! You're welcome! Are you referring to the bypass/controller assign tab on HX Edit? HX Stomp and Helix have certain CC reserved for specific functions, so as long as you configure the Chocolate to send expression information over CC1 or CC2 (for EXP1 and EXP2), you should be able to configure it.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar Thanks! I was able to do it setting the chocolate to CC10 🙌 I'm very happy now to be able to use my dual switch and the expression at the same time.
If using the chocolate with the MS1 MIDI receiver, do you know if it will work with a device that only has a MIDI IN port? Example a Boss Katana Head. In other words does the MS1 require both the MIDI IN & OUT plugs to be connected for correct function?
That’s a good question, I should try it out on my HX Stomp with the MIDI out unplugged. From my experience it should still work because the communication is one-way after all.
I got mine bundled together so I’m using the wireless adapter but I’ve seen people use TRS-MIDI cables. The only issue is finding one that works. Apparently there are different MIDI standards!
I followed the instruction and configure Chocolate but the HX stomp won't do anything. I use the stereo 1/4 TRS to Midi cable though .. What do I miss ? is the Chocolate defective ?? Thank you any help/suggestion ..
Admittedly my setup is with the wireless receiver so I’m not sure about TRS midi. Have you tried this video? th-cam.com/video/8exZinln9fw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VOjNSkvrdEXA0C3S
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I Think I'll Buy this one to make some tests, the only thing I'm worried about is that the Meris pedal's Midi input is TRS 1/4 jack, so I'm afraid that a USB-TRS cable wouldn't work
Oh yes that will be an issue, you’ll need a MIDI-TRS patch cable that has the correct specs. Those cheap MIDI-1/4” patch cables might not work. I bought one to try and it’s wasted money.
This would be perfect if the advanced custom mode allowed for at least one extra bank... If possible PLEASE contact M-Vave to upgrade the firmware so we can use banks with the Chocolate 🙏 PS: you're right about the saving option, u should ask them this also 🙏🙏🙏❤️🩹
