I actually recommend checking out poorhammer. They have a very cohesive and well laid out co-op mode. For you to use any faction and play surviving against any faction. It has a hole upgrade mechanic and the poor hammer crew are constantly updating and the discord is pretty laid-back and chill.
I have seen Poorhammer’s horde mode quite some time back. That was a year ago though. But from what you said, sounds like they’ve updated it a lot more. Thanks for sharing!
I thought about getting a second Leviathan box but I play a Blood Angels successor and I already have like 1.2k point's worth of "not jump pack" guys. Shame the Battleforce sucks. Fingers crossed that the BA gets a new Combat Patrol soon.
Thanks for the video, I think you are the first one publishing a video about this mode. I use to play with my son and he prefrers this mode instead of competitive because I usually win. With these mode we can both fight side by side against the nids.
That’s nice that you get to play with your son! It’s a very chill mode to enjoy with friends and family. There’s no feeling of “seal clubbing” with this.
Poorhammer did this but made it a massive new game mode. It is a great game mode that I highly recommend and play if you have new players in your group or getting new players in the game. Also a fun way to test fun army list.
I played a scenario from this with my gf and a mate. We took 1000pts each (Marines/Sisters/Admech), and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We ended up facing a force 25% bigger than our own (as is standard with these scenarios), and because I own a huge amount of endless multitudes, most of our kills kept coming back next turn. This made the game delightfully tense and cinematic, as we were fighting tooth and nail to take and hold objectives without drowning under the xenos tide. ❤
Makes it really feel like you're making a stand against the overwhelming horde, just like what we read about in the lore. Glad you both enjoyed this mode!
Totally could do it. Makes Kill Team feel a little more narratively grounded that way, rather than always playing games against the most elite teams from each faction. Also gives the Compendium teams some relevance than being relegated to unplayability.
That’s gonna be… difficult…. But as the comments above have suggested, Poorhammer has a different horde mode that makes other factions the opposing force.
Honestly, i suggest the Orks. It's a great concept for a clash too. The Tyranids, Evolutions ultimate predators, face off with Orks, the Bio-Engineered butchers. Who comes out on top as the ultimate beast, Evolution or Engineering?
"The closest most expensive unit" Meaning straight for the most expensive unit? Or does that mean the closest unit and choosing the most expensive to break ties?
It will check for the closest, breaking ties by the most expensive and eligible unit. So for example Zoanthropes. If you had a 150pts infantry unit in front, a 180pt tank in the middle, and a 350pt Knight out of range at the back, they would shoot the tank. They won’t go out of their way to attack something further back if there’s a suitable target in front of them.
@@CrusadeHouse cool. I think i played it right, but this is fun. Tbh 40k is not so hard to create custom game modes for! Thank you for spreading the word on co op / single player modes!

You need to check out Poorhammer’s horde mode. It’s a great co-op/single player experience that expands on fight the swarm to contain all factions.
I did see theirs a year ago. But it sounds like there’s a lot of new updates to it. I’ll go check it out again.
Funny thing is that this game mode kinda makes Leviathan an even better starrter set for a player if they have the money.
That’s true.
All the more reason to pick up yet another copy. I have like 2 of it.

your armies are amazingly painted (:
Thanks!
Still got a lot to paint.
I did this but for Kill Team. It was a small squad of Sisters versus Waves of Poxwalkers, Cultists, or Tyranids.

Many thanks dude!
No problem.
Thank YOU for watching!
Thank for the video ☺☺
No problem!
What if I am Tyranid Player? Who do I eat?
Other nid fleet. Survival of the fittest.
That’s gonna be… difficult….

Glad you enjoyed the concept.
Thought this was Horde Mode
Malstrains or otherwise damaged Tyranids?
Possible.
if we use lore then its next to impossible solo tyranids , unless huge cost lmao 🤣😂
Yeah, that's gonna be a problem...
Unless you're doing like Leviathan vs Hydra
Poor hammers rule set is better
A few others have mentioned it. I'll be checking it out.
