Both morally and the lyrics on average have reduced to being that of a third grade reading level. This shift is being pushed by major corporations and who they choose to licence and promote. They're purposefully trying to dumb us down and destroy our moral compass. At some point we have to push back. Taking your example, Korn, their song blind is a deep introspective about losing touch with someone's inner self and the fear and isolation that can come from that. There's a huge emotional lesson to the listener to gain from that message. Or even in hip hop from the same time period Nas's song "the message" talking about a time when he became obsessed with himself and was struck down by his own hubris and ended up in the hospital. These songs have real lessons to be garnered by the listener. They actually had something to say. Music today is just a product to be sold with no substance behind it and honestly bro you should join me in pushing back against it
