The workings look similar but not identical to the scallop/scoop marks on the unfinished obelisk of Ashwan quarry! This is just incredible
if you PAUSE THE VIDEO @ 11:23 on the close-up of the carvings, take a look at the second to the right carving... now look right underneath it and you will see a "Q" - is this an actual letter "Q" or just recognizing something familiar in what is otherwise chaos? (like seeing shapes in the cloud... I can't remember the word for it tho :/ )
- ALSO if you look beneath the surface that the carvings are on, there is a lip to the ceiling of the cave and it seems like there are faded remnants of much older carvings all across it, which you can make out best on the right side... or this could once again just be my imagination..... I just believe this cave system is MUCH OLDER than 2000 years (they say 200 B.C. is when it was initially carved out) - I think this is from PRE-Adamite/PRE-Flood civilization work.... there is just TOO MUCH uniform patterning for it to be made by hundreds of people and they ALL made that PERFECT PATTERN across ALL of the walls we see..... Just like Egyptian pyramids, this was NOT the work of copper tools and A LOT OF HARD WORK BY A LOT OF DEDICATED PEOPLE... pfffttt lol - HOW DUMB DO THE ACADEMICS THINK WE ARE???? This excuse may have worked ONCE, for ONE Ancient site... but they use it for EVERYTHING!!!!! - WAKE UP SLEEPLE!!!!
Hey Wandering Wolf! I went to the Longyou caves myself in October 2019 with some Chinese friends of mine. I was just as impressed by the carved sculptures as you were, but later my friends talked to a few locals who said the carvings are sadly not original... Like you stated they are working hard on turning the place into a big tourist attraction and apparently thought it would be a good idea to add a few things to make the walls look more interesting. The locals had all grown up around the area and remembered visiting the caves long before they were officially opened to the public. Apparently there is only one original carving to be found in all of the caves, located near the ceiling in cave 1. It's a roughly made carving of a horse, and I personally didn't think the craftmanship looked like something made by anyone capable of creating the caves. It might be a later addition by someone living in the area during the millenia afterwards. But that is just speculation on my part. The carvings above the entrance of the cave at 11:30 could be genuine though, I think we missed that one during our visit.
I had an idea of making a short documentary about Longyou myself but my footage was way worse than I imagined after reviewing it. I do have some pretty cool pictures I managed to take after cawling down into a cave not yet open for visitors though. The extreme skill of the craftmanship can be seen more clearly on them and adds more mystery to how they actually did it. If you'd like I could send it to you.

ive been there twice back in 2009 and 2010. its amazing.. no videos or pictures can do them justice when you are standing there yourself. also back then, there wasn't as many lights inside.. so it was pretty dark overall.
It's good they put up some lighting as it will be safer. Walking inside an uneven path isn't going to be easy when it's dark.

I really wish they had kept the caves as they were found. It looks like they’re modifying the caves by adding carvings and other things simply to attract more tourists, but I think they’re a great attraction just the way they are. Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us.
First of His Name There are a large amount of modifications being done...they had towers supporting lighting set ups, decorative ponds, paid picture spots, all sorts of stuff. Outside as well. You can tell they are setting it up for a big tourist attraction in the future. Was really glad to see it before all of that.

You're totally correct. They add all those carvings with images of ancient China heroes and legends and stuff to put their Han Chinese stamp on it.
When who knows who made the caves or when. Easily could be 15,000 years old and have nothing to do with the Ancient China that we know about

Fascinating, whatever the origins and purpose it's a testament to what ancient people were truly capable of. Regardless of the geographic location or culture, they were far more sophisticated and advanced than we know.

Those scoop marks look just like those on the unfinished obelisks in Egypt. Fascinating. We can't state for sure or even anywhere close to how they were actually done.

its said that china was an egyptian colony. google 'china egyptian colony' in google books and you will see it being mentioned over the centuries. its very possible that at one point during hyksos rule over egypt, egypt itself was a chinese colony. this makes sense as there are also chinese pyramids littered throughout the country as well.

The marks are quite irregular. A spinning blade makes much more uniform marks.
@@zephyrprime I'm am no engineer, but they were not carved by any hand held object or tool. If you look at other sights with the same markings, you can see where they changed the angel and direction of the machine being used to carve those colossal halls and passages.

An incredible site and experience! Back then was using a GH5 with a camera mounted led but I shoot everything on an iPhone now. They are just as good nowadays and work great in low light!

Thank you young men for taking me into a place I will never be able to see. I find this to be more phenomenal than the pyramids. Having traveled all over the world, this is awe-inspiring. Personally, I want to speculate that these may have been pre-flood venues for the people to hide in until it was over. Or even used when the meteors struck as a safe place for the people. The ancient civilizations were highly advanced, perhaps way beyond our present age, but somehow were wiped out by some great catastrophe or disease. As the time line moves further back as evidenced by Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, we are just revealing the greatness of the past.

Can these caves be only 2000 years old? They are clearly below the water table now. Would people in the past have put so much effort into making these caves that are so far below the water table? They're so big that it would have taken years to make them so they would have noticed all the water leaking into the first cave during it's initial construction. Could they possibly be from a time when the water table was at a much lower level? Like during the ice age?? Also, I would guess their use was as a grainary or other food storage. They're big enough and cool enough that if you pack them with ice from winter, you could keep food cool year round.

The carving above the cave entrance at 11.15 are the 8 symbols of the 8 immortals. These patterns are often used in decoration, mostly after the Song dynasty. So much later. The 8 immortals or baxian are part of daoist folklore. Interesting is though that the daoist meditate for visits to the 36 divine grottos where fairies/immortals practice dao. The origin of these practices and their myths is thought to be in the Han dynasy. These grottos do not belong to the Chinese heartland of origin. They are too southern, but it was southern daoism that introduced the stories. So perhaps there is a basis in history for that

Those caves are really weird and unknown they have no idea who made it and where all the material went that came out of it imagine how hard that would be today we could probably do it bug it would take a lot of time and a lot of money and specifically built machines and all that to do that
