    We just did a day trip to Florence from Rome last week!!!
    We left Rome at 6:30am for Pisa. Saw the leaning tower, clicked pics and grabbed a quick bite at Posto before taking the 10:30 am train to Florence.
    We walked to the Duomo, around Ponte Vechhio from the back and did Uffizi from 1pm to 3pm. I had marked previously which ones I wanted to see so it was easy.
    From Ufizzi we walked across Santa Croce to a bag store called Moretti and I bought 2 fabulous leather bags.
    Walked to Pino’s and sat there till 4:30pm for a late lunch of some amazing sandwiches, coffee and aperol.
    We then walked to Accademia at 5:30pm where I saw my 2 favourite pieces, Cello by Amatti and David.
    Finally walked to Mercato Centrale for a lovely dinner and dessert before taking our train back to Rome at 8:30pm.
    It was a crazy day, lot of walking and it was dazzling all through the day. But it was amazing as there were very little people because of the rain and lines at Ufizzi and Academia was short.
    I loved every bit of it. But next time I will take more time.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It sounds like you had a brilliant day. You definitely packed in a lot of sites, which is doable if you have a bit more time than I did in my video. I am sure it was tiring but also rewarding. Glad you had such a nice time!

      I just read this comment. I would definitely do this. Thank you for the ideas. I just want to ask what train line did you use from Rome to Pisa?

    • @AM-zing
      @AM-zing 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rubynave322 we took the Frecciargento 8588 at 6:23am from Roma Termini arrival Pisa Centrale at 8:48. Get this atleast 2-3weeks in advance else prices shoot up.
      Buy a bus ticket immediately from the Tobacco store just in front of the main gate of the Pisa Centrale station. The bus LAM Rossa Park Peitrasantona departs just outside the main gate within minutes of the arrival of the train. If you catch that you can get early by 20mins and come to Florence earlier.
      Also, don’t buy the ticket from Pisa Centrale to Florence early. That price doesn’t fluctuate and it’s better to buy as per your time that you reach back.
      Honestly this trip is exhausting but very doable.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@rubynave322 Trains leave very frequently from Florence to Pisa. You could almost just show up at the station and purchase the next ticket.

    Hello, I have subscribed to your channel. Great tips, been learning a lot and you have a nice clear way of speaking and explaining...Alessandro too btw. This video is so beneficial as I will be doing this itinerary in Dec 5 days Rome, 5 days Florence. wanted to take it slow and easy.
    Just one humble suggestion: It will nice if you could include the day, time and perhaps temperature in your clips.
    After watching your 1-day trip to Florence from Rome - noticed you and Alessandro wore so many layers - was wondering if it was that cold!
    Anyway - Good Job!

    • @Romewise

      Thanks so much for your kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed this video. We have more videos about Florence, with longer itineraries, that you may find helpful:
      th-cam.com/video/pc3BAGQHjsY/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/kM1B_x-DQqI/w-d-xo.html
      We often do put the time on things, as we did in this video, to show you the pace we keep, but your suggestion of also including the day of the year/month/week and also the temps is a good one and we will do our best to include that info in future videos.
      Basically how we are dressed reflects the weather while we are filming and we do a lot of filming in winter, so you will see us bundled for those videos.

    Elyssa, We are taking the Sunday, 5:10 am train to Florence from Rome arriving at 6:45 am. I was planning on doing your underground entrance out of the station. However, I'm now thinking I may grab us a taxi (to save us some steps) to take us to Ponte Santa Trinita for some good shots of Ponte Vechhio before the crowd. We have 9 am Academia tickets so I thought we'd walk up after. Your opinion...should we do those pics when the city is quiet OR Duomo area when it's relatively empty? 😆 Again, God bless you for your helpful videos! Such a joy to view them.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and for your kind comments.
      Yes, you should avoid the underground to get out of the station if you want a taxi. Just walk straight out on ground level and you'll find the taxis there. Great idea to head to Ponte Vecchio early. I'd do it more for the light than for the lack of crowds. Of course anywhere you want pix and video super early in Florence will be lovely, again more for the light than the crowds. Just make sure to keep any eye on the time so you make it to the Accademia by 8:30AM. Have a great trip!

    • @Romewise

      I don't know of a delivery service such as you describe. You could use luggage storage at Termini station in Rome, or stop first at your Rome hotel and ask them to store your luggage for you while you go to Florence.
      It sounds like you want to just go directly from FCO to Florence, but either way, you must pass through Roma Termini to get to Florence. So I think the easiest thing for you to do is store your luggage at Termini or at your Rome hotel while you go to Florence.

    I had a grand daytrip to Florence from Rome last spring! Thank goodness the city attractions are so close to each other. Arrived early enough to check out cenacolo di'Sant Apollonia and la SS Anunziata di Firenzia before the Accademia. Spent 90 mins there then it was off to explore the Doumo complex including climbing up Giotto's tower and the museum. Pity the Baptistry mosaics were not in full view. No time for a sit down lunch so I got a sandwich and gelato before running off to spend 3.5 hours at the Uffizi. Got to hang out a bit at Piazza della Signoria and Piazza della Republica. Dinner was the local signature Lapredotto at Mercato Centrale and also bought some inexpensive leather souvenirs before catching the 8 pm train. It was a trip that needed some military precision to pull off! If I had to do it all over again, I would stay in Florence for 3 days, and that would allow me to do a day trip to Siena. It's very unfortunate as an American we simply don't get enough vacation time!

      Wow that sounds like an amazing day trip - packed full of activities! I am glad you got to do so much but agree that it's a lot for one day and that it would be better to have more time to do all that you did. But I completely understand not having enough vacation time and wanting to see as much as possible in the short time you have. Great job!

    How much is the ticket from Rome to Florence by the train because I checked and it was around $50 dollars for one way?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ticket prices depend on many factors such as how far in advance you book, which class, time of day etc. Around $50 one way is very normal but it could be more or less.

    Since you're such a historian, you should visit Santa Croche church in Florence and make an in-depth video of the famous people who are buried there.

      Thank you for the suggestion. We do have a page dedicated to Santa Croce on our website:

      We've also talked a bit about Santa Croce in a few of our other Florence videos, but it's a great idea to have a video just about the basilica. It's full of interesting history and architecture. I'll add this idea to our list. Thanks again!

      Yes, Santa Croce is amazing indeed. Michelangelo, Macchiavelli, and Galileo are all buried there. In the baroque church of Ognissanti, you'll find the tombs of Amerigo Vespucci and Botticelli. Is the leather market outside of San Lorenzo just a tourist trap, or do they actually have quality goods?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would say neither. I am not sure it's a "tourist trap", per se, but you do get what you pay for. This is NOT the place to come for quality leather goods. But if you just want a souvenir or an inexpensive gift, it's fine.

    Do not even attempt to visit Rome or Florence as day trips. Or if you are restricted to a day, pick one attraction eg Vatican Museums and St Peter’s in Rome or Uffizi Gallery in Florence and focus on that and swear that next time, you will devote several days to each city.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2
