The torpedo on dapples is significantly better than auto bomb on tetra imo. But the similarities between the two does deflate the excitement for the new kit.
Yeah, I do think it feels weird to say that Dapples is "low tier" just because tetras exist. That isn't what makes a weapon low tier. It just makes it currently have less of a point since there is another weapon that is better but fills the same niche. But that isnt what makes a weapon "low tier"
@@ZariLutus ProChara generally rates for top level competitive play where optimal team comp and weapon viability is most stringent. If youre doing solo queue, weapon choice really isnt whats holding people back until like top rated X rank. The new dapples in that context is pretty good since tetras require tons of skill and practice to use effectively. In comp play however, dark tetras have a higher ceiling and are more versatile and if a person isnt comfortable playing tetras theyre probably going to play a more general slayer wep like splash or shot rather than go dapples.
@@ZariLutus In this game it is. If a weapon is outclassed heavily then it never sees competitive use. Anyone intrested in that niche learns Tetra. This has been the fate of other weapons like forge pro in s2 vs foil squeezer. Once squeezer was shown to be better forge pro was never used in significant play.
Maybe if it's Reefslider had a few points needed to charge Reefslider knocked off, it could put it in a similar spot to Tetra, being a faster close range option for players that prefer to be up in their opponent's faces rather than hanging back and spacing rolls to play at a safe distance
@@ZariLutus Ive seen many people make similar arguments for why Marth is low tier in Smash Ultimate. On paper, he has a lot going for him but he's also directly outclassed by Lucina so because of that some top players don't even consider him viable, not because someone couldn't find success using him in a tournament or something similar, but because why didn't they just pick Lucina for likely better results.
A lot people disagree for the reasons you stated but there is precedent for this low rating.
The new kit for splattershot junior is too fire, torpedo + Wave breaker is literally made for combos. This is probably my favorite weapon + kit combo out so far, quite pleasantly surprised that it’s not picked up by that many ppl
Ttek showed that ink strike is underrated, I needs some changes most notably being able to submerge between shots but other than that it's a great area denial special
I think being unable to submerge while using it is important, it means you can't swim around and cover tons of important areas with one special, and makes it a worse panic/combat special. This all makes it much more balanced.

My only issue with triple ink strike out side of not being able to swim with it is that booyah bomb exists.

I don't think they'll do that, Chara is majorly underestimating mist. Yes, a bomb would be better, but mist is still very good already and doesn't need to be made better. If they did this, mist would become absolutely broken, and considering some of the best main weapons in the game have it, it'd absolutely break the meta and just break balance in the game in general

Chara did touch on this a little bit, but I feel like RG is easily top tier for Turf War. The original Aerospray was already an excellent painter held back by its limited ability to contribute to a fight, but with RG's ability to put out constant Booyah Bombs as well as having even better painting capability thanks to Sprinkler it's nearly unstoppable. You're starting to see at least 1-2 of them every match.
I was hesitant on how I feel abt this kit (also probably cause I dislike aerospray lol) but I started seeing this kit with 9-10+ kills, and I think that alone speaks for itself on how much this kit is loved rn
I mostly play Turf War (and Salmon Run but weapon choice + kits are kinda irrelevant there) and I mained the Aerospray MG in Drizzle Season. I really enjoyed it, but I'm liking the RG even more - I tend to play Aerospray a little more aggressively than is probably a good idea, and Booyah Bomb is great to help with that. Plus, I'm using more specials in a match, since with the MG I'd save my Reefslider until I needed it for a defensive/aggressive move, but I'm more likely to put out a Booyah Bomb shortly after charging it. I like both Fizzy Bomb and Sprinkler for Turf War, so I don't have a strong preference in terms of the sub-weapon. They're both great for painting, and although Fizzy Bomb is good at poking, I appreciate not having to charge Sprinkler when I'm trying to get some extra paint in the opponents' base, so I think they equal out in my personal opinion.
Ink brush is another top tier turf war weapon, because it disrupts extremely well

Carbon Deco has been so fun to play that I picked it up! I'm still getting used to the lower damage output compared to Splat Roller tho.
The Carbon Roller Deco is only really damaging at close range. To get more out of it, either rely on its quick vertical swings to poke at opponents - especially when beneath ledges - or rely on Burst Bombs combos (7:59) to either lead off attacks or finish off weakened opponents who attempt to flee.
I was a wasabi main on splatoon 1, so watching the weapon come back its really nice

I'm an Inkbrush main and I'd been having a ton of fun with the new kit, Stamp is kinda meh but brush doesn't really get specials that much anyway with how aggressive it's played, and I love Ink Mines. Also they combo insanely well with the main weapon, unless the opponent somehow manages to react and get out of the circle fast enough to only get 35 damage they're a two-shot.

I feel like tetras are more inclined towards skirmishing and dapples are more inclined towards slaying, so i wouldnt say its totally outclassed
I feel like any weapon they and in the future with Tenta Missiles will INSTANTLY become hated, I feel like when they decided to add it back to the game they just got lazy

I think if the new Dapples kit got something like Zipcaster or Booyah Bomb it would have been a great offensive Dapple Kit. I actually think I prefer the vanilla kit as I can spam Beakons everywhere and support my teammates with Tacticooler. Also I found it helps spec-ing into sneaky tactics with the Dapples like Ninja Squid and Hidden Super Jump to sneak up on unsuspecting players and pick them off.
As a brush main, I totally agree with his placement for the new ink brush. The mine is actually fantastic with the brush by keeping out base invaders who sneak past my team and combo with the brush. Although the hammer doesn’t really compliment the brush play style, I mostly use it as a throwing tool. The brush really needs a range attack. Prochara mentioned this before, a brush weapon with a storm which I think is fantastic because it helps put pressure on range weapons who find their comfort spot.

I’ve been maining the Inkbrush Neuveau since it first released in the original Splatoon. Im so happy it’s back again!
If I could make one kit in Splatoon 3, I would make a Dynamo Roller with burst bomb. Imagine how cool that would be.
Imagine you are in a tough spot and your feet get painted, normally you just accept death because there's no way you will have enough time to do a swing and paint your feet, but now you can quickly throw a burst bomb and get away.
Also, if your swing deals 95 damage or something like that, normally you would have to do a second swing, which will probably be too slow and you'll die. Now you can just finish them off with a burst bomb.
Just the sheer amount of mobility and combo potential that the burst bomb would give this weapon is insane. Dynamo Roller needs something that can help with these weaknesses, while also being cheap enough to not compromise its ink tank, burst bomb is everything a Dynamo Roller could ever hope for.
Sprinkler works for the Dynamo Roller because people learned to use it like a discount burst bomb to paint their feet, but it's about time we get the real deal and finally give the Dynamo a chance to be a good weapon again.
As for the special, Booyah Bomb would work well to keep yourself alive, as it did in the previous game with the Kensa Dynamo Roller. Other options could be the Triple Inkstrike, as a reference to the Gold Dynamo in Splatoon 1, or the Ink Storm, to combo with the main weapon and apply pressure to the other team.
Personally, I've been enjoying the Dapple Noveau Kit a LOT. Tetras just were never that appealing to me for whatever reason and I've always stuck with the dualie Squelchers up until now, but Torpedo + Reefslider with the great mobility and killtime has just been tons of fun and the first time I've really delved into a Slayer weapon.
Also it's blue, which is always a plus.
Dapple players: we need a way to counter dark tetra, but we don't have a good kit.

As an ink brush main, I was hoping ink brush would get ink storm, or wave breaker. The ink brush and ink storm seems like a good combo because the ink bush itself is weak and when used correctly the ink mine and ink storm combo is VERY effective when you aren't paying attention and you use it properly against ranged weapons or as defense for the Splat zone.

I can kinda understand the disappointment for the new Dapples kit but I'm personally really glad its here. I've never been able to handle the Tetras well, the way they control just feel off for me and I can never get into their groove. That is something I however can do with Dapples so I really appreciate the option being there.

While I do agree that it’s not in the best place rn, as a Luna main, I like the idea of ultra stamp on the weapon. As a special for Luna it needs to provide a way to win fair fights against longer ranged weapons (aka basically every weapon in the game) as the main weapon is only good when you are fighting on your own terms (around corners or surprising enemies). Hammer helps fight all possible situations not in your favor:jump swing for people too close, rush for mid range weapons, and throw for backline.While it doesn’t do any of these especially well (partially due to it being a weak special in general) having actual options is very useful. Plus, Luna doesn’t have many good special options anyways, with the only specials that would synergize with it being trizooka(which works to an extent with anything) and reefslider(which is also very bad rn).
And if nothing else, the special is just fun to use. I’ve been enjoying learning it over the past few days

ttek splattershot was an instant main for me when it came out because i was a wasabi main in splatoon 1, so glad it made a return
10:04 an easy fix is simply to jump then roll which will sens you back onto the ground fast and you can continue shooting but I use the Dualie squelchers

Has there ever been a vid on ink management with pros? I was really excited for ttek after playing a lot of vanilla Jr. because I play really aggressively with the splat bomb/shooter combo, but thought shot would be much better at it. What I found is that I was running out of ink too fast from bomb and ink strike doesn't help with getting YOURSELF in most of the time. I mean obviously there's sub saver, but I feel like when I watch pros play it's like they're able to reload faster or something (without IRU)
Best advice I can give is swim between shots whenever possible. You'll still have moments of downtime every now and then, but it's a good habit that increases your output by a lot. There's also gear that helps recharge ink faster - even one sub of Ink Recharge goes a long way throughout the match.
Something to make note of is that you still recharge ink while squid rolling, so finding ways of using it consistently in your movement while being safe will also improve your ink managment while allowing you to play more aggresively.
How I see it, there is two classifications of kits. There is a rounding kit that helps the weapons main weaknesses. And an enhancing kit that gives the weapon an alternative, stronger way of fighting similar to how it already fights

I want the forge pro to have a tower control/splat zones niche so bad but every time I think about it I remember oh right the machine exists and is a direct upgrade in every single way.
I’m relatively new to the game (2+ weeks playtime) but my favorite main is Splat Brella. Let’s say Splat Brella gets a new kit. No adjustments, just different sub/special. What’s the kit you want to see on brella?
At this point Brellas should just get burst bomb if the devs have no intention of giving its 90 damage back, if its not getting burst then most lethal subs would work for it but suction would probably be the last "lethal" bomb it would want bc of ink cost (lethal bomb in this case refers to Splat, Suction, Torpedo, Auto, Fizzy, & burst) and in terms of supportive subs the only 1 I could really see working for it is Beakons bc wall is completely redundant on Brellas (aside from maybe Undercover), ink mine is -- JUST NO, and most of the other supportive subs are just bad in general.
In terms of Specials, honestly most of them would probably work, although Zipcaster would probably be too janky with how the Brella's fall off damage works, + Stamp & Slider are just under tuned in general right now.
An aggressive Brellas I would want is burst bomb & inkjet (or crab if we want it to have a special that carries it) and supportive would probably be Torpedo & wave breaker or tacticooler (wave breaker is if we're trying to make the weapon actually good)

The ttek splattershot is the perfect weapon to me so i'm so happy they made it
These all definitely feel right to me, having dabbled. I can't quite get the c. Jr. to work well for me, but I'm solo Q so it's hard to get people to capitalize if they don't have good map awareness.
It feels like when played well, there will always be Torpedos and Wavebreakers for every single push or enemy counter push.

Don’t play the main weapon. Literally that’s it. I didn’t understand the hype for junior at first so I gave it a shot and I realized it’s good bc of its bomb spam and special output. U kill with the bombs and the special not the main weapon. I actually almost dropped a 30 bomb with the v junior before the update

Dapples can’t catch a break, the poor things. Hopefully something changes for them in the future because of how outclassed it is (although I jinxed the brellas when I last talked about weapon changes, so I hope it doesn’t happen again)
With stamp weapons, use it like a “silenced” shot of trizooka with less range, but is easier to aim with, whenever possible use it up close, but most of the time it’s better off being used as a tri zooka shot

I have a question for the new BIG SWIG roller what do u recommend as gear for big swig ive been testing out qucik respawn and special charge up. the perks have been inconsistent and underwhelming so i wanna change my build but i dont what is better for such a supportive roller like this since u cant spam the special and it cant kill its been an odd change of pace trying it out?

As an aerospray main when I saw it had booyah and sprinkler I thought that they could have given it curling instead so it can actual move in with its short range
I love the Carbon Roller Deco, I get kills on Clam Blitz, but I need to get really closer, also Tentatek Splattershot, Zink Mini Splatling, and Forge Splattershot Pro where my favorites, like Zink Mini I need to master, I must get Sub Savor for Toxic Mist and Ink Recovery. I like the Custom Splattershot Jr too I got 25 Kills on Anarchy Open Rainmaker on Flounder Heights today.
I'm on the fence between Forge and CJR, both weapons are incredibly fun but CJR has Wave Breaker
Idk it feels a bit weird to say that Dapples Nouveau is "low tier" JUST because it is competing with Tetras. That isn't what makes a weapon low tier. It might mean it is a bit pointless competitively but that isn't something taken into consideration typically when determining the "tier" of a weapon or character in a game. Generally more of a side note about where the weapon lies rather than actually determining where it lies. It leaves me not really knowing where it actually ranks in this list
I’m a Luna main, and honestly was honestly really disappointed to see it had stamp. HOWEVER after playing the new kit I can say the stamp isn’t all that bad. If nothing else, you can pop it off and just throw it, giving you an option for dealing with long range annoyances that Luna wouldn’t have had an efficient way to deal with otherwise. Tho like you said, this vid’s about team composition potential and on that front I’d probably agree that the special overlaps with the main weapons capabilities in a way that feels like a waste. Then again, I’ve never touched organized comp play nor would I ever want to.
I can’t wait to see the kit for the Krack-on splat roller.

Honestly i adore the custom jr. Its EXACTLY the kit i feel undercover would benefit most from and its just tons of fun.
Usually i just play brellas and the odd match of blob and stamper and yeah. Cjr is fantastic because while it does shut down playstyles you said its not oppressive and can be dealt with.
Honestly I agree, Torpedo worked so well for KUnder in 2 that it really needs to come back on its next kit and Wave Breaker would be great for softening up targets to compensate for Undercover's weak damage.

@@Brandon-xc2pk Nah for a Kunder kit it wants a support special, give it bubbler if you dont wanna give it the same kit (although two weapons are allowed to have the same kit)
I've been playing with the standard Mini Splatling since release and have been having a rough time trying to get used to the Zink kit. Not having any extra damaging ranged options sucks and bubble just seems a bit too expensive right now (imo). I guess I'm not really used to having a long draining special too.
The exasperated sigh at the brella is almost expected at this point
I love the new Ttek. Only thing holding it back right now is Splash exists.
Hey just asking, where would you put snipewriter, big swig, and splattershot nova on this list?
you know, the top 3 weapons feel like specialisations for the vanilla Jr kit. Zink Splatling gives you the range to capitalize on Bubbler, Custom Jr gives you an answer to ninja squid, and Custom Splattershot has the arguably better gun with slightly less bombs, but not really because the special feels like just 3 free bombs and an refill
I get it. Aerospray RG is not really a great weapon in the competitive side of things, but I really enjoy it for what it is. I literally am an Aerospray Main myself.
Ok I got a team of Custom JR’s in splat zones today and we did not stand a chance. It was almost like they had wall hacks because you can’t do anything when you’re always spotted or getting sniffed out by torpedoes.

The custom Jr is my favorite. I have gotten so many defeats with it. All you do is hide the wave breaker behind the wall and watch it get people lol
Despite the ranking, I love the new dapples, its dodges quick and its a three shot kill at best. Torpedo compliments it very well as they can't deal with you and the Torpedo at the same time. The range isn't perfect but at close range the fire rate and damage more than make up for it. Reefslider isn't good on this kit and, as someone who loved the Clears in 2, I would like to see the same kit but with a different special instead, maybe triple inkstrike, zipcaster or crab tank to offset the range.
Just thinking about toxic mist, what if toxic mist restricted you in that you can't enter swim form while inside it. If you enter it, you're immediately kicked out of swim form.

2:29 to me honestly I feel the ultra stamp clashes with the Luna blaster rather than helping it.
Based on this video, I feel like a decent Toxic Mist buff would be to have it cancel Squid Rolls/Surges into it and prevent their use while inside. Would fit the sub's identity as a mobility reducer. Maybe add a slight health drain while inside, too; I honestly thought it already did that for a time.

imo they should reduce dapples end lag to make it have something over tetras, where you could seemingly almost nonstop roll and then maybe its piddling range would be more manageable
Chara, I have three total ability slots that are filled with special charge up. Could you do a comparison video to show the difference between having that, and not having any?
I know this is mostly opinion based, but what weapon would you recommend most for solo q? (Besides squeezer brush or charger)
Regardless of what this tier ranks the weapons, trash or not, they will always be that one loyal user who will stay loyal to said weapon.
I think it kind of makes sense, unfortunately, that we got 4 shooters. It seems like they were giving kits to the first weapon in each targeted class (dapples for dualies, mini for splatlings, carbon for rollers, etc). Since they're such a diverse class, they kind of did the same, just for the a spray shooter, support, shorter range slayer-esque shooter, and longer range shooter.

imo dapples and tetras both have a different enough playstyle for napples to be not outclassed by vtetras. dapples like to go out and flank and they like to get kills, however tetras are generally skirmishers, not slayers.

Manifesting my E- Liter gets it's bursts bombs back. They should give it a good sub weapon to fend themselves against really aggressive players.

No matter the weapon I used, I could barely keep my last 50 record better than 22 - 28. Since Gold Aero dropped, I'm at 30 - 20 for the first time since Splatoon 2.
It's not for Ranked/Anarchy, of course. I've known this since Splatoon 1.
Personally I really like the new forge pro kit, line markers were never really my thing and while crab tank is fun I always forget to use it. Glad they gave it bombs and stuff cause now it’s way more versatile as a weapon
It’s really unfortunate that the new dapples are only being considered “bad” by the community because of another weapon having a similar kit.
