The best song of Arkona, oh my gods ! This song is so beautiful, I almost cry in front of love for their homeland ! Don't forget your traditions !!! Slava !
Just love that song, I had been searching for a translation for months (google translate is just terrible), until I discovered this video, thanks a lot. I just love Arkona!
This song is a trip through Slavic,Baltic,Germanic, and Viking lands-almost complete tour of European Heathenism.Only thing that's missing is Celtic and Hellenic paganism-but hey nothing's perfect. This is great.
Well he obviously stayed away from the places where he would be taken as a slave....but if you listen to the end instrumentals sound like he is running from something... someone says THIS IS MY LAND in which they get NEIN in response
Such a shame that all we see from Russia here in The Netherlands are fail compilations, dashcams and drunkards, while I think it has so much to offer. I've never been there myself but a country with 143 million people can't be full of stupid drunkards. It's a shame that we get such a weird image from Russia here.
Не важно кто это придумал.... Гениальный проект и исполнено невероятно здорово , талантливо !!! Огромный плюс в доступности , для понимания многих людей , из разных народов ! Спасибо !!!
i can relate to this song, though i want to see other lands for myself i know my happiness will and stay here in Holland, Na Moey Zemle, In My Land, In Mijn Land. and i always feel honoured when someone wants to learn my language, it gives me also some sort of happiness to share what My Land has in stock for them. Hail The Gods!!!
This whole song is pretty damn awesome, but the part at 5:20 or so when we get to Lithuana and Obtest has to be some of the most powerful metal vocals I've ever heard. There's just something about them that really gets me going. I think most impressively of all, I came here just as a Heidevolk fan and left a fan of four other bands too.
wow :3 only the greatest folk metallers could do something like this - I don't speak any of the languages but have seen a couple of translations. This is the best!! Next time we can have a Gaelic speaking band, and a French, and a Bulgarian, and....
I love so much Arkona, the pipes the riffs and every word expressed in here... there's no way to express the feelings and memories emerging from the eternity
I had much respect , to this song . For me it has personal Deep meaning . Cause i ve got germanic and also slavic ancestors. Arkona made with this song such a briliant work . And thats why this is my fav track
4:31 - 4:45 DAMN, I LOVE THIS MOMENT. Just imagine: ships full of proud vikings floating to the distant shores, while wise raven silently follows them and fill their hearts with the joy.
This is great, thanks for this long searched translation! Regarding to the song, I think happiness is not in the land, but in the people you love, wherever you are!
Amazing! I know I'm coming in late to this comment section, most tcomments are from years ago, but what is the story behind this song? A collaberation with other bands such as managarm? I see only Arkona credited with writing this song. Are the other muscians just guest perfromers or what? I hope this song gets the credit it deserves in musical journals, where we often see the same songs listed as greatest rock songs of all time; Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven, Freebird etc. A song about an epic journey, and at 15 minutes long, this has to be the greatest rock song ever written! Only 108k views?!?!
Ive tried to show it to as many people as possible....its about a young man(woman?) leaving russia. And traveling most....of central northern Europe. Each vocalist is actually a vocalist representing their native country and explaining about their land to the traveler. It ends in Germany before he(she??) decides to head back to russia...but i dont think he makes it.....
They asked every other band to write a thematic piece of song about their land, addressed to a foreign traveller. After that band made the whole canvas from these pieces connected by the words of a traveller.
Tana is a lot like the Celtic Goddess Cerridwyn/Ceridwen in a lot of ways. Veles reminds me of mixed attributes of the Germanic God Loki and the of the Roman God Pan. Mystery, Magic, Nature, Mischief. Peron/Perun is like Ares and Tyr. It's fascinating how similar different deities in the region are.
I'm not all about Russia and Russian stuff but mentioning the One-Eyed is quite charming I like that there's someone in Russia who likes the One Eyed as much as I do
Can't fucking understand people who says that we, are the Russians did have nothing with Vikings and scandinavian culture, like the Varyags never existed... we are the one nature inside and we are strong! Fuck the principle of dissociation, if they (you know who) will keep moving it, i swear, one day they will say these words again: "Save us, oh Lord, from the wrath of a Norsemen!"
There are some more translations on the official Arkona site (linked above). I worked on most of them, with other members of the Arkona forum (also linked above).
Thank you for the translations. I have been researching my Slavic heritage and it is appreciated that someone takes time to translate these songs for those touching base with our roots.
This is my first experience with this band, I most definitely don't speak the language, but hugely impressed regardless. Think it's time to brush up on my Russian(?), Czech(?)
+Metallicanofawesome It's Russian. It's probably old Russian though, and the vocabulary is not the one you learn in a classroom. Also there are parts in Dutch, German, Latvian and other languages that have nothing to do with Russian...
I had my glasses broken once a week! I was an intelligent kid from a good family! Reading all the time! And my mom brought me to a boxing club in 1990. And after that I knocked some street boys down
That is a very good translation! But in the end there are the two same mistakes: She sings "Zemlja moja!" and this means "My Mother!" and not "My Land!", but the in many Lyrics from Arkona the Word "Mother" is used for Russia. But still a very good translation. *applause*
+UncleVanya21 In Cyrillic, it looks like земля мая. That means "my land" with the archaic word that nowadays means Earth. Behold my comprehensive understanding of Russian right there.
Khaorix The word zemlja is not archaic at all, it still means soil, land, and yes the planet Earth as well. TrueDemonPictures claimed that "Zemlja Moja" means "My Mother", which of course is incorrect, since it means "My land" just as I've said. I am Russian and Russian is my first language.
It'd be nice if there was a transliteration of the lyrics. Anyone know where to find them? I've tried searching on google but I only got to websites in Russian and I couldn't really get anything..
If you can find the Russian lyrics then try putting them into google translate, it has a transliteration at the bottom of the page. it seems to be a lot better at that than trying to translate the actual meaning. It's a bit hard to follow, because it doesn't break it up into lines, but it's ok if you can't find anything else.
Learn a bit of Russian and study Slavic folklore, if you want to really understand Arkona. It's worth the time investment, and you just may learn a few things. The music is amazing in its own right, but seriously, they're doing amazing storytelling in this and many other of their songs.
+Artjom Morozov GRAI is wonderfull and "In Arms Of Mara" is fuckin' masterpiece... And those Slavic, Russian Beauties from Kazan... :) Sława Słowianie!
+LastDrakkar82 I'm glad I chase up comments like this as sometimes they're not bullshit. 'In the Arms of Mara' IS a fuckin' masterpiece! Thank you :D I only got pointed in Arkona's direction a week ago, Masher is without a doubt a legitimate Legend! That celtic folk, souped-up by Viking Metal..... Hmmm, forbidden Bagpipes...It's just perfect.
The best song of Arkona, oh my gods ! This song is so beautiful, I almost cry in front of love for their homeland ! Don't forget your traditions !!! Slava !
Best Folk Metal song ever forged, true European Wentanchaaung.
Perhaps the greatest, and certainly the most epic, song ever recorded.
Welkom in mijn Vaderland!

A true masterpiece of its genre

I just love Arkona!
google translate is only good if you have a sense of humor. their translations are ludicrous.
Nice, Heidevolk in the vocal lineup too, brilliant track, Masha always sings with such passion.
Really? I thought I recognized their voice. Thanks for the info!

America needs it very much
Now with that perspective....think about what the rest of the world sees of the US or any country sees of any other country.
Most definitely the best mix of bands I've ever heard in one track, even though I only really can pick out the German and Dutch parts.
Hero's Journey: Arkona's version

Great to have the song translated in full. Many thanks from Iceland.
Would love to see Iceland! Here in Europe we fight all the time. Sick and tired of this.
This song is truly an EPIC!!!
The transition at 7:16 is my favorite part for sure. One of the most moving moments in any song for me. It's so beautiful.
I feel honoured that my own language is in this song and that it is translated correctly

maybe u russian are mix of scandinavians aka variags but we poles are not. we are slavs but we are occupied now.
