I just turned 60 and I had 2 hernias repaired with laparscopic surgery exactly 3 weeks ago and yes I agreed to mesh for both hernias. 1 more week and I am going back in the gym. I'm not gonna lie and say that it was not painful or uncomfortable but it wasn't THAT bad. The first 4 days were the worst and I took the codone pills the surgeon prescribed. After that I dropped back to Advil for a couple more days. Just get plenty of sleep and every morning when you wake up the pain is a little less. I made myself get up and walk around which I think helped. On day 7 we went to a boardwalk and watched fireworks and I did a lot of walking that day. When I got home that night it was hurting and burning so I took 1 more codone pill. There was a lump about the size of a golfball where the original hernia was. That lump has reduced itself down to the size of a marble now. I still fill some pulling pain here and there like if I twist or pick up a case of water or whatever, but it keeps getting better day by day. Don't worry guys you got this! I was a nervous wreck about the anesthesia and surgery but everything went smooth. The hospital staff were like a well oiled machine. Don't put it off and suffer with hernias. Go ahead and get it fixed so you can back to your normal routine.
Thanks for sharing this. I’m having a surgery for my inguinal hernia and I too am nervous about the anesthesia but I also miss working out and cleaning or gardening. So I’m doing it and I know I’ll be stronger after. Again thanks ❤
@@charalambos Good to hear. Whatever they do during the surgery will cause constipation. I did not take a laxative before and so no bowel movement for 2 days. Also dont het in too big of a hurry to get back in the gym. I went back on the elliptical after a month and had a scare thinking i pulled the surgery repair or something. Its ok now tho. The anesthesia has advanced now and they do it with computers. So that was no issue. I woke up 30 min after the surgery. You will be fine. Good luck!

I’m 66 and exercise and have a hernia. Thanks for the post. Still worried about the loss of everything I have worked daily on by having the surgery. I appreciate your post and information given about the after effects of the gas. I hope all is well. Thanks again sir. Be safe out there
One thing to keep in mind is while delaying sounds good, the hernia will only get worse. It's easier to repair a smaller hernia. I know because that is what I did and I ended up have 2 surgeries ( the first one failed) to fix the really large hernia.
Glad to have found this video. 29 here, I was diagnosed with two indirect inguinal hernias, one each left and right sides. After my consult I made the decision to have the mesh repair. Had the robotic laparoscopic repair for both in one procedure. First day fully home, I had the gaseous pain, bloating, and pain where the actual repairs were done. My incisions don’t hurt. Yesterday, Day 2 recovery; still had the above pain, bloating; but the gaseous pain is starting to subside; I had my first bowel movement yesterday late morning. Sleeping is rough as I can’t sleep on my sides yet….last night felt slight nerve pain twice, once was a tingle and then second time it shot up the right side of my torso to under my right arm. Today; Day 3, gaseous pain is pretty much gone, still have minor pain; passed a regular bowel movement this morning and had a nerve shock go down my right leg. Just hoping my recovery goes well. I know it’s not 100% fool proof repair but I hope I can get back to my normal life in a month. Was great to see I’m not alone.
@@jacksonroltgen464 yes, 4 weeks post op now and no more pain from surgical sites. I do still have minor tingling every now and then at the incision sites, still feel as though I can’t push it, like I don’t trust myself right now to lift a 50lb bag of concrete mix. I may have overworked bending quite a bit getting my zero turn mower and snowblower switched out yesterday and doing their oil changes…
Thanks so much for this video. For me, an old f*rt, this is the kind of video that makes you tube so great. I'm having the surgery tomorrow a.m. and I'm super reassured thanks to you for sharing your objective and educated perspective. I know that not everyone has exactly the same aftersurgery experiences so mine may not mirror yours. But I won't be nearly so surprised by any of it if it occurs. Many thumbs up and thanks.
In my sixties. Had inguinal hernia repaired by renowned specialist Dr. Shadid at Hoag in Newport Beach, California six years ago ~ robotic with mesh. Hasn’t ever said a single peep since then, although doing gnarly hiking, lifting weights, riding a heavyweight motorcycle, yardwork, etc. Thank you kindly for this posting, good Dr! Very reassuring as I need him to go in for the other side, now. Same program 👍
I am 1 week post op, laparoscopic inguinal repair. Still having pain in the abdomen and right side groin. Be prepared for longer recovery than you may think.
Just had my rare Spigelian 20mm hernia repaired August 7th plus an old 2.5mm Umbilicus while he was in there. I am a very active 78 year old. Think I got this from doing McKensie exercises after back surgery two years ago. Your post surgery videos were very helpful for my recovery. Still in the hurt locker from the gas in the gut but better every day. Went to our brand new Special Surgery Center here in Lewes, DE and had the Robotic, went in at 7:30 am and was back home by 10. I wish I knew about the bowl obstruction a year ago. I lost my younger brother (62) last October due to a incarcerated/ strangulated bowl obstruction. He went in Oct 9th and they treated him for two days for food poisoning, then he had emergency surgery, spent 47 days in the ICU, always incubated and sedated until they pulled the plug on Thanksgiving Day. Which is what encouraged me to get to my Primary and get a C Scan. Thanks again!
@@frugalfoot4973 5 weeks out and back to my normal routine. The last thing to go was the feeling of a burning sensation where the mesh was. Taking some colostrum to help it meld in. I do have a problem with my right hip now and don't know if it is related to how they strap you down for the Robotic surgery?
I had same surgery and my recovery was much different. I was groggy when I came home but I took pain med ahead of anesthesia wearing off. I did not experience any pain but I had a catheter put in. My pain has been fairly minimal and igo for walks once or twice a day. My restriction are no lifting over 15 lbs. for 6 weeks.
I had same surgery. Bilateral. No pain. Never used the meds they gave me. Worst was not pooping for 2 days. I followed doctors orders. No sex for 2 weeks. No gym for 6 weeks. Again, I had zero pain! UW Hospital staff did a phenomenal job!
Thank you for sharing. I had my gallbladder removed, and an umbilical hernia repaired last year. I asked the surgeon to repair while he was removing my gallbladder. He didn't use mess. Saw him again today and have bilateral inguinal hernias and another umbilical hernia. He decided to mess it all this time. Hopefully, I will not have another issue.
I had two right inguinal hernias. 2011 and 2019. Lapriscopic with mesh and open repair with mesh. First hernia failed and now I am having a lot of pain complications after the second surgery. Don't celebrate too soon. Recurrent hernias are much worse than the first. Don't think that you can just start doing competitive or very active sports just because the pain goes away. Hernias have a way of slowly sneaking back up gradually over time and the older you are the weaker your abdominal wall becomes. In addition, any subsequent hermia surgeries weaken it even further. Be careful. I learned the hard way. DONT LIFT!!!!
Thank you for posting about your hernia repair experience! Today is my 3rd day post op from a complex ventral hernia repair and robotic abdominal reconstruction with transversus abdominis release. They installed a 30x30cm mesh. I’m doing the half dose of pain meds as needed, otherwise it’s Tylenol. I came home with a drain which is the most painful part so far. I definitely agree with the “no sneezing, no coughing, and no laughing” recommendation. I would also add “clearing your throat” and “blowing your nose” to that list! Again, thanks for posting and I hope you heal well!
Just had bilateral surgery done laproscopically yesterday. The surgeon felt using mesh was apropos on my 64 year old groin. When I was 5 1/2 had the first bilateral hernia surgery and about 27 years ago had an abdominal surgery so it took a bit of effort to unbind those adhesions before the surgeon could fill me up with gas in order to creat the space to work. I'm pretty sore, the gas is pretty bothersome but nothing compaired to the downright agony I experienced after the abdominal surgery which included a duodectomy and vagonomy which lasted for a few years. I can't wait to go home tomorrow and play the guitar although singing might need to wait a bit. I play between 2 and 5 hours a day and just this small time away is almost as painful as my tender belly. Thanks for the fine video!
I have already watched a couple of your later postop videos. I am an RN of 34 years and I also have a hernia for years that I usually just chose to ignore it with no increase problems. I did leave comments on the other videos.
TFS your experience! Hearing this information from a doctor/patient point of view is very reassuring. I can't imagine the "gas" pain on top of being sore from the surgery - jeepers! You look amazing & I would've never guessed that you are only 3-4 days post-op. Glad you were able to get both hernias repaired in one operation. Best wishes for a prefect recovery!🤞🚴♀
I've had 2 inguinal hernia repairs several years ago, at different times. Mine were done laparoscopically and I did have some soreness for the first few days, but it wasn't bad at all. Nothing at all like you described. In fact, I've had several surgeries, (knees, shoulders, appendix) and I felt the hernia repairs were easier than the others.
Gr8 video on your post op experience...my laparoscopic inguinal surgery was a huge success. I am fully active again but lift weights more cautiously. I dont want the mesh to tear.
I’m exactly one week in on my laparoscopic mesh surgery. I feel pretty decent. Still have a bit of discomfort in the hernia area. I can sneeze and cough if I lift my weight off my leg it hurts a lot less. Coughing is still rough. I’m feeling good. I did mow my lawn yesterday. But the mower drives its self, all I did was walk behind it. Get your steps in everyday it will help!
I had my hernia done June 14 Rochester, New York. This is my second one. They are no joke however it had to be done. I am an advocate runner. I am retired RCSD SSO I’m turning 62 in July health is one to me. The doctors are very professional. I had them before job well done. like you said doctor. Rest it’s been one week since my surgery I am feeling good little sore however, good thank you.
I am 6 days post op, i can stand up straight and walk decent amount of distance a day before the bloated feeling returns. Pain isolated to where the groin hernia was, it burns sometimes but is tolerable. I still feel physically un mobile if that makes sense. Awesome video
I just had open inaugural hernia repaired a week ago. Recovery has been tough as my partner who was going to help me got a bad case of the vid. For me sleeping on my back seems to make any pain stop. I'm constantly icing to reduce the swell. I heard this was normal in some cases my boys blewup 5 times their size and a ton of bruising in my groin region. Yes pjs are the way to go.
Thanks much for your video. I just had the same procedure done yesterday and it’s nice to know what to expect with my recovery. Good luck with your recovery!
I had open surgery just over 3 weeks ago. First week is pretty painful.Pain goes after a week but that feeling of being kicked in the guts stays. Move around but slowly and just sit without pushing going to the toilet. Be patient and take it steady.Your body will tell how much is too much. Back to work this week but having a physical job bit nervous as there's weakness as the muscles heal.
Thank you, this was very informative. I really appreciate you posting this and I hope that your health continues to improve and please continue to follow your doctor's restrictions. I guess it's a good opportunity to catch up on your reading. Take care.

When I came home from surgery last night around 9pm I felt good, but not today, I have a lot of gas and bloat also feel like I am hunched over. I hope tomorrow is better, second day post op. absolutely correct do not cough, sneeze, or laugh, it will hurt like hell!!!
Thank you really put my mind at rest after my NHS UK mesh inguinal hernia repair to hear your experience ....exactly the same stuff I'm going through just 2 days after op.
I just had this procedure performed yesterday. It hurts a lot more than my prostate surgery a few years ago. Mine was a robotic surgery like yours. Im bloated now and it hurts to sit up and im getting dizzy a lot for some reason. my shoulders were killing after surgery. I'm also going through this without pain meds... its all tylenol for me.
I’m 2 weeks post surgery . I was NOT prepared for the pain of day two through day 7 . I couldn’t even lift my feet to get on the bed , I was screaming in pain and needed assistance . Needed assistance to get to the bathroom also. I still have a severe stabbing pain in my left testicle and penis , the doctor said that is caused by nerve damage and will hopefully go away . I’m still taking stool softeners to this day for the pain of straining is awful . I’ve been shot in combat and had some severe injuries but I’ve never felt pain like this before , thank God it’s starting to ease up on day 14 .
@@YousafKhan-ik3cv Thanks for asking! I’ve healed up and am back to normal, with no pain over the summer. Everything has been great. However, over the weekend, I deadlifted a heavy object and pulled something on that side. I’m hoping it goes away soon. It’s a reminder of how important it is to lift properly. I was on the farm and needed to move a 300-pound barrel, but foolishly, I did it without using proper lifting techniques.
@@jackblack579 I’ve made a full recovery and I’m back to normal , I did do some heavy lifting recently and over did it, but I think I’m fine . Didn't start looking up all these videos tell after my surgery. I've been home for 12 hours now since my surgery that was 15 hours ago. I had inguinal surgery on my left abdominal area and decided to choose the mesh too. Fingers crossed it will not have any issues with that down the road. I'm experiencing everything you mentioned. My surgery went quick, only an hour in half, so prayers my doc knew what he was doing. Lol How long was yours? I'm 37 and play golf regularly and enjoy biking hiking and many other outdoor activities and sports. I've been experiencing some gas but glad I took a Gel Gas pill shortly after I came home. I've been taking my oxy 5 MG every 6 hours and IB 800s in between that 6 hours to help with swelling and inflammation. I also been icing all day off and on. So far the pain has been manageable but I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I'm praying I don't sneeze or cough in these next 72 hours lol. The pain from just a light cough earlier when I got home was pretty sharp and intense right where they did the repair. I was able to shower and move with the same discomfort you described. I also been taking solar plunge showers regularly now for the pass 8 weeks. I even did it today but don't think that the shivering and tightening of the ab muscles was the best idea but I tried to control my breathing to help the shivering subside and will continue to do this. I'll check back in the next 4-6 weeks with an update. I'm sure others are curious too. Thanks for posting I like and commented and you'll get my subscribe after your response. 🍻
Thanks for sharing your experience. But it's, sad to think that there's no guarantee the hernia won't come back, even with the use of a mesh. I had my double hernia repair 4 days ago. I didn't have as much pain as you describe, but at the moment I'm worried that I somewhat "feel" the mesh when I do certain movements like standing up or getting out of bed.
I heard that is normal. The mesh has to grow into the tissue which takes awhile. A guy I work with had it done 2 years ago and said every once in awhile he could feel it for up to a year. Now he feels nothing and no pain at all. BTW I am having an inguinal hernia repair and an umbilical hernia repair in 2 days.
@@mermeflorez Thank you. I had the surgery yesterday, it was laparscopic. The pain was pretty intense when I got home but feels slightly better today. The worst part of it all was trying to pee after the catheter. I was a little worried for awhile but it finally straightened out last night. How is yours after 5 days.?
If, after only four days, you "somewhat 'feel'" the mesh, then you're lucky. My mesh felt like a playing card, where the guys at the playing card factory forgot to round off the corners. That feeling lasted a couple of weeks, until it healed. Eventually, I couldn't feel it at all.
@@georgegravette1132 I really was lucky. It's been just 2 months after my surgery and I never feel any discomfort at all. It's like I had never undergone the surgery. I can work out again with complete confidence and don't even feel the mildest pain or discomfort. I read somewhere that the success and speedy recovery after hernia repairs lies in choosing a surgeon that really masters their technique. That's what I did-my surgeon is an expert in the field who's even devised improvements for laparoscopic procedures, and he uses this really advanced mesh. I really feel lucky I found him. Hope you're getting better by now.
Had a hernia repaired thirty years ago open surgery mesh was bowling 15lb. Ball two weeks after no problem. Now at 65 have to have the other side fixed probably going with the robotic mesh had my gallbladder removed last year robotically no issues there either
The shoulder pain might of been from when they had you on the surgical table. I’m sure you know they tilt you backwards and your weight is on your shoulders. I wondered about shoulder pain and the tilted surgical table.
Having had the SBO and now the reoccurrence I think if I were to do it all over again I would probably lean towards the open procedure. You just never know..... There really isn't a right or wrong answer. Reoccurrence after an open hernia repair is a possibility as well.
I had it done laparoscopicly in 2012.. the mesh ripped off in 2015.. i just had open surgery for that again.. I'm sick of this.. Yes, the shearing and burning and swelling.. then i have an enlarged prostate as well. Omg.. going to the toilet is a killer. Back pain from lying is terrible too. I can't move on my side as that increases the pain. I'm at home just wearing a t-shirt with nothing else on.. taking movicol to aid any movements down there. I wont doing anything for a week
Is it recommended to activate the coremuscles in order to stabilize the core a bit and maybe take pressure off the peritoneum after laparoskopic surgery?
The gas pain and abdomen punching pain sounds scary The mesh free shouldice method sounds less damaging to the tissues even though the sacrifice is that it isn't quite as strong of a repair
I am on day 5 of laparoscopic umbilical hernia surgery and when they went in they found inguinal very close to it so they made it into one and put the mesh inside. Day 1-2 was painful. I started coughing the 2nd day so that sucked! Talking was painful too. Nothing but Ibuprofen and Tylenol through. Did you have a binder? How often did you use it of you did? Had BM 2nd day and every day since but also started stool softner on day 2 but i have constipation issues. I am a single mom with no family to help so I am doing what I can for myself. My only issue is I've just been so tired and sleeping a lot more than usual. But I also worked the last year so much that I was on the verge of a meltdown. I am just so terrified that something will happen and I will have to go through another surgery. But I guess so far so good.
You're a better man than I . I am so afraid that Doctors will hold back on the pain killers that I am avoiding many needed surgeries. I have seen a terminal cancer patient, where the Doctors lessened her meds and she was literally dying. If they would do that to a woman on death's door with most organs removed from cancer surgery, I just don't trust them.
Hi I'm 69 going for large umbilical hernia repair next week, I think the surgeon is going to do a mesh repair as it's a large one with another hernia just above, I won't lie I'm very scared, and worried about the recovery as I'll be living on my own.
I hope you recovered well. I’m 4 weeks post Op and there was no way I could have gone home and be alone . I needed help to get in and out of bed and to the restroom. I could not have done it alone . Hope you did well.

With a robotic repair, can they see everything, a possible other hidden hernia? They found an inguinal hernia today and have a lot of referred pain. They missed this for over a year-I had a lousy ultrasound tech. I had a thorough tech who brought in the radiologist.
My inguinal hernia wa lyposcopically repaired 2 years ago and my testicle is still inflamed. When do I seek medical help over this or when will it finally go down on its own ?
Hi there, I had an open inguinal repair done, with mesh. I’m 7 days post op. I can’t wait to feel 💯 again. Did you feel any direct pain or soreness on the inguinal site? Even though you had robotic? Obvs I feel everything on my surgical site cause mine was opened.
I had a hernia repair same thing 3 days ago. I am into alot of pain. Can't move much. Can't breathe, laugh and talk much which will make my abdomen stiff and hurts badly. I am on pain killers vicodin but I don't want to keep using the meds and it make me have palpitations if I fall asleep. Please help any recommendations 😭
I decided to do both at the same time primarily because doing one would exhaust my deductible. So it was like two hernia procedures for the price of one. Plus: I don't like the idea of being in the hospital, in the OR and under anesthesia more than I need to.
Therefore was the Second Inguinal Canal mesh cover an Ellective procedure? ie -you didnt Need it, had no hernia, But decided to cover it? OR you actually had a Double Inguinal hernia(s)?
What diet dud you eat prior to surgery? What did you take to prevent constipation? How would you rate the pain with bowel movement? I have been under watch of a surgeon for over two years and will probably have surgery.
I was just wondering do you think you cycling might have caused the hernia? I am an avid 66 year old mountain biker and out of commission. Due to a inguinal hernia.
@@frugalfoot4973 i was afraid you would say that. i went on a 5 day mountain bike excursion. a couple weeks later i started getting pain in my right testicle no bulge though. kept riding daily, riding didn’t antagonize it though. finally went to see 2 doctors one said i bruised my testicle, one said it could be attributed to i prior back injury herniated discs.Neither said it was hernia. finally got a ultrasound and found out i have a inguinal hernia. the pain in minimal to none with the hernia belt without the belt pretty painful. been toying with the idea of going for a ride. also now a hard decision on mountain biking moving forward after the surgery.
I was told six weeks no exercise. I followed those directions. In fact the final week was when I had my SBO and I couldn't have trained as I was in the hospital. After I got out of the hospital the six weeks had expired. I started training extremely easy for the last three weeks of 2022. I started light training in January (30-40 hours per month). Nothing of significant intensity until about April. That is when I started ramping things up. I hope your recovery goes well. If you haven't watched my other post op hernia videos you should do so.
I had robotic laparoscopic inguinal hernia mesh repair 6 days ago and did not experience up to this point what you describe. I took one narcotic pill at 5pm after returning home and converted to two 325mg Tylenol Q6H for two days post-surgically. The surgery was not bad at all the constipation was the toughest part of the ordeal. You are 1 month post-op how are things going now?
I am six weeks post op. I developed a post op complication (small bowel obstruction) three weeks ago and spent a few nights in the hospital. @@frugalfoot4973 Sorry to hear that! Did they repair the obstruction with colonoscopy or a repeat laparoscopy? Although small bowel obstruction is rare complication of laparoscopy it, most unfortunately, does occur. Best of luck going forward!

@@petemayes1940 yes the open surgery was, and I’m not putting this lightly, 100 times worse then the laparoscopy.
Any updates?
@@jacksonroltgen464 yes, 4 weeks post op now and no more pain from surgical sites. I do still have minor tingling every now and then at the incision sites, still feel as though I can’t push it, like I don’t trust myself right now to lift a 50lb bag of concrete mix. I may have overworked bending quite a bit getting my zero turn mower and snowblower switched out yesterday and doing their oil changes…
day two after my operation. you description is exactly as I feel, spot on😮💨
Thanks so much for this video.
A speedy recover to you. Thanks for your comment.
Hi I'm 66 years old I I had inguinal hernia repair and I must say 4 Weeks later I'm still in pain my knees massage all hurt very uncomfortable 😅
I am so sorry about your brother. That is terrible. I do hope you recover well.

Thank you for your input! Much appreciated.
Yeah I probably won’t lift for many months probably 6 months just to be safe
Thanks man! Youre gonna make a better recovery next time!
Can i play football ( just freestyle) i had the surgery 3 months ago
Thank you for posting about your hernia repair experience! Today is my 3rd day post op from a complex ventral hernia repair and robotic abdominal reconstruction with transversus abdominis release. They installed a 30x30cm mesh. I’m doing the half dose of pain meds as needed, otherwise it’s Tylenol. I came home with a drain which is the most painful part so far. I definitely agree with the “no sneezing, no coughing, and no laughing” recommendation. I would also add “clearing your throat” and “blowing your nose” to that list! Again, thanks for posting and I hope you heal well!
You as well Lisa. Thanks for your comment. I have a new update video probably tomorrow. Thumbs up to you.
Just sneezed twice on day three. Ouch!!

@@winstonsmith3685 hahaha. Yes it is!
My plan was to pick up my mandolin while out of work recovering that first week... Happy healing to you.
My surgery is tomorrow. Same procedure. This video really helps!
All the best to you. Heal up well!
I have already watched a couple of your later postop videos. I am an RN of 34 years and I also have a hernia for years that I usually just chose to ignore it with no increase problems. I did leave comments on the other videos.
Day 5 postop for me. Everything going well. You nailed it with the laugh, sneeze, cough comment! 😂
Much appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you sir, I’m scheduled to have a surgery in 2 days and this is helpful
All the best to you!
Im scheduled for a non-mesh repair within 2 weeks. No chemical treated foreign object for my body thanks! U First clinic in Ft Myers, FL.
Had three done at one time. You nailed it. Thanks
What type of test did you do to find all three?

I am 6 days post op, i can stand up straight and walk decent amount of distance a day before the bloated feeling returns. Pain isolated to where the groin hernia was, it burns sometimes but is tolerable. I still feel physically un mobile if that makes sense. Awesome video
How are you now?
I just had open inaugural hernia repaired a week ago. Recovery has been tough as my partner who was going to help me got a bad case of the vid. For me sleeping on my back seems to make any pain stop. I'm constantly icing to reduce the swell. I heard this was normal in some cases my boys blewup 5 times their size and a ton of bruising in my groin region. Yes pjs are the way to go.
Thank you so much for sharing. Sobering description.

Great video, thank you. How long has it been since, and how are you feeling now?
Six month post op. No further issues. I feel fine. I'll do another video update soon.
My surgery went quick,
only an hour in half, so prayers my doc knew what he was doing. 🍻
You are right. Sneezing and coughing isn't fun... Good luck with your recovery.
@@dirtwhisperer658 Thanks for sharing this and good luck with your surgery.

This procedure is performed under a general anesthesia.
Did you go to Shouldice hospital in Canada 🇨🇦 for hernia surgery
Maintaining BMI is important
Had a hernia repaired thirty years ago open surgery mesh was bowling 15lb. Ball two weeks after no problem. Now at 65 have to have the other side fixed probably going with the robotic mesh had my gallbladder removed last year robotically no issues there either
The shoulder pain might of been from when they had you on the surgical table. I’m sure you know they tilt you backwards and your weight is on your shoulders. I wondered about shoulder pain and the tilted surgical table.
Do you wish you had the other open surgery instead of laparoscopic now due to the gas? Why did you choose laparoscopic?
I was told not to lift anything that weighed more than a gallon of milk for four weeks. My surgeon prohibited me from even walking with ski poles.
I wish you the very best. You sound like a real fighter so do your best to stay tough. 👍

No mesh complications whatsoever.
With a robotic repair, can they see everything, a possible other hidden hernia? They found an inguinal hernia today and have a lot of referred pain. They missed this for over a year-I had a lousy ultrasound tech. I had a thorough tech who brought in the radiologist.

I am on pain killers vicodin but I don't want to keep using the meds and it make me have palpitations if I fall asleep. Please help any recommendations 😭
Any pre discussion to do one hernia at a time? Was it 'belt and braces' to both or did you have double inguinal hernias the same time?
I decided to do both at the same time primarily because doing one would exhaust my deductible. So it was like two hernia procedures for the price of one. Plus: I don't like the idea of being in the hospital, in the OR and under anesthesia more than I need to.
Therefore was the Second Inguinal Canal mesh cover an Ellective procedure? ie -you didnt Need it, had no hernia, But decided to cover it? OR you actually had a Double Inguinal hernia(s)?
Thanks Doc !

So, how long after surgery did you start exercise like normal again ? I am a runner, had the same surgery on one side three weeks ago.
I am six weeks post op. I developed a post op complication (small bowel obstruction) three weeks ago and spent a few nights in the hospital. I am currently trying to advance my diet as I have been on a very low fiber diet ever since. It has been a challenge. The hernia repair is doing quite well. I do wish you the best recovery.
@@frugalfoot4973 Sorry to hear that! Did they repair the obstruction with colonoscopy or a repeat laparoscopy? Although small bowel obstruction is rare complication of laparoscopy it, most unfortunately, does occur. Best of luck going forward!
@@albertbrooklyn No further surgery needed. And hopefully never. Thanks for the well wishes.
@@frugalfoot4973 Why the low fiber diet? I was encouraged to eat as much fiber as possible. I'm 2 days post-op and I've had zero issues so far but I also haven't had a bowel movement yet.
@@JohnnyFukcup Thank you for your comment. Can you direct me to the place in this video where I said I was on a low fiber diet please? I was on a low fiber diet after my SBO complication but that was a different video. Are you confusing the two?
Are the mess dissolvable type, you got? There are claims the body can get into an autoimmune situation that causes fatigue and mind fog (ASIA), bu having foreign plastics inserted.
this text is for the creator, so i waited 5 years for my hernia to be repaird amd im about to go get it set up in a week so im just wondering if you have any suggestions or foods or anything to help me through the procces because im a little afraid that it might come back and that it might cause chronic pain afterwards, what should i do before and after?
Follow your doctor's orders and pray for the best result possible. No other secrets. All the best to you.
Greetings. I just had the surgery, first one ever. I have a bandage half covering my vagina, tender gas feeling in my belly, first 3days was lightning feeling when using toilet. Tomorrow be week, bandage change
going in for my 4th inguinal hernia repair (I'm 28) after 3 previous open surgery repairs one on the left side 2 on the right side and I'm getting this one done laparoscopically on the right side again.. nervous because idk what the doc is going to find inside after 2 previous repairs on that side... whatever it is it can't hurt worse than the open surgeries.
I hope the best for you. Thanks for your comment.
Hello buddy was the open surgery pain a lot worse tban your keyole?Good Luck
@@petemayes1940 yes the open surgery was, and I’m not putting this lightly, 100 times worse then the laparoscopy. I was up and able to gingerly walk around 2-3 days after surgery with 60% recovery 2 weeks after. My situation is a little different as this was the 3rd repair on the same side so he did run into some complications once inside. For a first time laparoscopic surgery I’d assume you’d be fully recovered in 1 week.
@@nf4322 Thanks, guessed so im 8 days in from open still flippin painful , funny enough my man a prof was a pioneer in original laproscopy, but he said he needed to access my groin from top as it was an explorotary,he found inguinal hernia and did other stuff, woke up saw the wound covering and sighed, had open before horrible pain ....how long were you till pain free buddy?
Thats acary! I am due for inquinal repair hernia.. but I am told I am "high risk Blood clot" so on medication for three months before evaluated to perform operation! Seems worse pain is the gas dispersion! Sounds horrible!
