The Atal Rohtang Tunnel - This Changes Everything!

  • 3rd October 2020 is a historic day for all Himachali's, especially for the people of Lahaul, Spiti and Manali - it marks the inauguration of the Atal Rohtang Tunnel - a 9Km long tunnel, burrowing deep under Friendship Peak. This tunnel will give year round access to the otherwise inaccessible Lahaul Valley, which remains shut during the long winters.
At the moment the future seems bright, yet uncertain. There is no doubt that Lahaul can develop into a world class winter sports destination - we just need a champion to spearhead things.

Development; socialy and economicaly.. but still afrais of the fact that as the number of tourist may go its extreme limit which can have negative impact regarding the beauty of both the valleys, pollution, crowd, traffic etc.. so govt. Need to make the plans in advance to handle all these issues... Our Himachal is known for its beauty and culture.. need to preserve it...

This is a world class achievement. I salute the vision of PM Atal Bai Vajpai and the other Politicians followed his Party agenda. He is no more but his this great idea and vision will make the lives of millions easier and a milestone for India’s safeguard. This is called LEGACY of a great man. Now the Rothang pass could be only for those who want to explore it purposely otherwise the Rothang pass is a very difficult part, despite its magnificent beauty, of communication if someone in hurry or if someone is ill... Congratulations India.... Greetings from the beautiful Switzerland. I know Kullu Manali is equally beautiful as Switzerland even more when I think of the Apple orchards in August and September... Whenever I enter the valley, I recognises it with its wonderful smell.... I have crossed the Rothang pass more than twenty times heading towards beautiful Spiti valley and Ladakh region..... I have then sometime wondered, looking at the Rothang Pass or at the beautiful Rothang Mountain, and a wish penetrates through my mind thinking, how easy it could be if there is a tunnel going through the Rothang.... It is now in reality and I can’t wait to explore it. As soon as the Corona issue settles down, I will fly.... Oh I can’t wait...

@@samuelboon2277 you think you are the only one smart in here? The 3 professional organisations with decades of work experience who worked on it, didn't know what you are talking about?
There wasn't even this much space for BRO to work with. These are hilly areas with severe space constraints. Hell, there was even a big water channel continuously flowing below the area where this tunnel has been built. They had to manage that in the first place.
And the serious snowfall that happens in winters blocking one side for almost 3-4 months a year.
Btw, FYI, this is not the actual width of the tunnel. There are parallel exit routes on both sides beside the walls where one can walk and come out in case of any mishap.

When I had visited Manali in 2017, every one was talking about this tunnel. More than any body else, this will immensely help local population. Looks very well built. Under earlier central government, the tunnel was being built at 300 meters/year. Then later the project was fast tracked to 1400 meters per/year. Just shows that if there is a will and intent is shown by the administration, India can build world class infrastructure projects. We need to build more of these infrastructure projects (tunnels, bridges, roads, hospitals, cities) which people can use. Don't build statues.
Edit : I have nothing against building statues. But I am against using public tax payers money for it. Have you studied how other such projects are built around the world? Statue of Liberty was gift by French to US. French didn't use their tax payers money to build it. They issued bonds and asked people to buy those bonds to raise money. The same was done to raise the fund for building Effiel tower. Even in India Jatayu in Kerala was built like this. If the people feel passionate about statutes, let them show it by buying such bonds and raising money for it. It's not like you have to use the public money to create tourism opportunities. Let's assume that you live in a village with no water and electricity inspite of paying all the taxes. One fine day government says that instead of providing water Nd electricity, they will build a statue in front of your home, what will be your reaction? If your answer is still statue, then you deserve to live in thag waterless and powerless village for many generations 🙏🏼.

Just landed on this vlog last evening, and trust me I am back here after 24 hrs again just to give a small token of support by commenting .
R&b you both are gonna change the perspective of travel vlogging and specially video editing and man those tracks in all your videos. Soul trail series featured the ethical way of doing a trip the right way. The only thing I envy you is that you got a crazy hardcore adventurous and open hearted group of friends . All in all love your content you have a new creepy follower to your vlogs🥂

Whenever I watch your vlog I feel so happy. There are numerous travel TH-cam videos but yours keep me hooked till the end and so pleasure to watch it. Your voice is so soothing and also wants me to practice english more. Your videos is not only a pleasure to the eyes and soul but also inspires me a lot in many ways. It’s good to see barty in the scenes. Barty has opened up a lot, she didn’t appear much in earlier days. And as always Arjun is like sunshine, cheers up the people near him. He is very unique, humorous and adorable. You are blessed with so many good people in your life. Tell me you’ll try is one of my soothing, chill song to go with. Keep making vlogs, music and inspiring people. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Great video! I'm so excited about this tunnel! I have always wanted to travel more in my home state but i get terrible terrible motion sickness and traveling in the hilly roads had always been so difficult. My dad visited the tunnel few days ago, and once I am little more free from all this study/work from home thing, I can't wait to drive up with him! Great video, as always guys! ❤️
