So happy they got the deal done. Plus both goalies seem to add something very positive in the locker room as well. Blackwood has been playing out of his mind.
These guys should be in the WCF at the very least year-on-year. The advantage teams around them like Vegas and Dallas have had was the goaltending. Wedgewood is a great backup too.
The Central is staked! The goofy @$$ playoff format in the NHL means it's mutual destruction for the division to ensure they'll beat each other before seeing the Oilers or Vegas in the WCF. Any of the top 4 teams in the Central i could see making the WCF and Stanley Cup

First time watching y'all. Thanks for giving Blackie some love. He may be the best tender the Avs have had since at least Varlamov's tenure. Probably before Varly even.
Give Joe Sakic all the praise for this. He’s literally the mastermind of this team. Just need to find a way to keep Mikko! Hate to say it, but maybe this is the year we free up $$ with Gabriel Landeskog…
Don't have to. They already have cap space for Gabe. The made sure of it at the start of the season. This is why they got rid of the players they did at the start of the season.

Injury problems here,& there? Dude-we had like 7 of our top 10 forwards,& 4 of our top 6 out for weeks. AVS at 1 time had like 11 or 12 guys out for multiple games. None of that is even counting Landeskog for obvious reasons. They not only have had insane injuries this year- though they are in better shape now-knock on wood-but terrible injury luck for basically 5 yrs. With "only" currently having 5 guys hurt not counting Landeskog. And I'd argue for a huge portion of the entire 2020s-weve arguably the most injury/suspension (Nichuskin) cursed contender in the NHL. Remember the 2020 COVID ,bubble when we got to OT of game 7,2nd round-despite having like 6 or 7 regular skaters out,& were down to 3rd string Michael Hutchinson in net-games 5-7. They actually did a phenomenal job even getting to that far,& would've advanced to WCF-despite being decimated-if not for Kryvanta hat trick of all things-back when he played on Dallas.Injuries are the main thing I worry about with the Avs-especially after solving the goalie issues. But I agree anything short of WCF this year would be extremely disappointing-assuming reasonable health. And as somebody who works at Ball arena-I need a deep AVS run cuz as soon as their season,& the Nuggets seasons ends-our more than fulltime job-becomes a part time job for concerts,& such over the summer. And while I'd never completely count out the Nuggets cuz they do still have the best basketball player on earth-its looking like they will probably have a short playoff run-1st or 2nd round-if they don't make a trade. And I at least need 1 team to go deep to put off as long as possible-having to get a 2nd job for the summer-lol. No question the AVS have the better shot of the 2 at a deep run this spring. If only we can just get a lil help from the injury hockey gods. But they don't seem to like the AVS too much...at least for most of the 2020s-lol.
If Sakic or MacFarland call, hang up and burn your phone. You're about to get jacked. All kidding aside, I think Kovalenko will do great in San Jose and Askarov is looking promising, so this was a win for both teams.
Fingers crossed we can keep the current healthy players and then add Val back in. I can't imagine what the 2nd half of this season is going to look like...if we can keep our health. Most importantly, playoffs and hopefully getting Landy back. (Great channel, just found it today, keep up the great work boys)

Ya, looking like a better trade for the Avs right now. But trades are almost always a risk, and had Blackwood just been on a bad streak for a few games, we might be saying the opposite. One thing was for sure: Avs needed a shake-up.
@@InkDSocietyz maybe thats exactly what you want tho? And I wouldnt be surprised if the Avs and Blackwood talked about an extension even before the trade actually happened.
