  • Former AMA Supercross and motocross star David Pingree comes out of retirement to race a replica of his Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX125 in the Super Evo class in the VMXdN at Farleigh Castle.
Riding against 250s and 500s with riders like Billy Mackenzie, the Californian rides hard and talks about the fun of two-strokes.

    "It's a little slow."...maybe it's the extra 40 lbs that 125 is lugging around! ;)

Im pretty Sure it is very slow, compared to a pro circuit kx125.

@@backwithabang5842 Not as slow as he says it is I am sure. That extra weight makes a huge difference, and I doubt him running about last place is because everybody else is riding a PC pro prepped bike. :)

Why do all of these awesome vintage 2 stroke videos have to play music. Let the smoke ring!!

It corners better, because the bikes were not too tall as they are today. Not a matter of opinion. It's a matter of physics. The new 2-stroke YZ's are the tallest probably. But I lowered mine a bit, and I don't even need a rut or berm anymore. High handlebars are not good for cornering either.

Legend in his own mind. The guy had to get a job with the state after MX retirement, (which means he lives off of other peoples productive skills), so he is really a parasite who loves the "community" that pays for his life. If you can't keep enough of the money you may earn fair and square, you can blame it on the parasites. Any communist nation hires some "workers", and piss on the people who actually make the money in free enterprise.

Weird. I see quite a few cars/trucks around the track, but hardly any people 0:10

I actually owned David Pingree's 1996 Splitfire Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX125 race bike in 1997. It was fast. Fast, fast. I remember taking it to Hangtown Amateur Day in 1997 and watching Bones Bacon come and look at it and then go tell Mitch and having Mitch wheel out of the Trailer and come and look at it. Mitch is very secretive about his specs on his motors and someone forgot to take off the Race Cylinder and put on a Practice Spec'ed Cylinder when it was sold to me. They were offering me a new cylinder to return that one. I sold the bike to a guy from Oakley Ca or Bethel Island Ca named Cody Metzger. I have been looking for him since 2000 to try and buy it back. Cody if you see this please email me. I will trade you all 5 of my bikes in my garage for that bike back.

I'm from New Zealand and a mate of mine got hold of shayne kings ktm250sx practice bike. Man did that thing haul ass. Holding it wide open was difficult. It just kept on accelerating when you thought it would tap off. I had a stock 97 kx250 and it ate it up for breakfast

I would guess you bought it. Ping never owned a bike he rode. His parents bought him bikes. Then as he got fast enough, teams gave him bikes to ride. And even today, everything he rides is put together by others so he can promote their products. He was living off of other peoples profit then, and living off the "communities" (ours) profit now. What ever money he eared while racing is great. But other than that he has always been a parasite, living off the efforts of others, (Everybody who chants "I am here for the community" does. Politicians and people who work for the state.). It is immoral to consume more than you produce.
I port 2-stroke engines for a living too, (small ones), but I see what we race because I don't care who wins with my work. I used to be sensitive about somebody copying my specs, but I found out that the people who copy still can't do the work correctly,--or else they would not copy I guess. That would be a nice bike to have, for historical nostalgia. I see a possible problem with your story though. If it was Mitch's build for Ping, you would have to have run some pricey high octane fuel.
Wanna bet Mitch was not running Splitfire plugs? They turned out to be a hoax sales gimmick. But even more today, we take money from anybody.

Like road racing! Yea, I am glad there are no bumps on a track anymore. All the skilled guys just kill everybody else, and it is not fair. I think we agree that MX tracks should be paved!
Man,---I hope that sounds stupid to you.
