His voice is amazing. And everything flows together so naturally and the xylophone was the icing on the cake. Hell..the peice in its entirety is breathtaking.
when i feel sad, i listen to beirut and i feel great.when i feel great i listen to beirut and i feel even better.and when i feel nothing i listen to beirut and i feel.
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was 2:00 am and quiet in my house and I was in a terrible mood, and I clicked this vid randomly and it cheered me up so fast. It was almost magical.
My god I love it, the random and informal mood of it all, Zach's quirky little dances and everyone sort of wandering around. It's kind of ironic how together they sound
Nice work. Musical theater without the single overview perspective of the live theater-goer. Fun to look at, great voice and interesting musically. True to the medium.
The DVD explains it pretty well. If you watch the DVD front to back it strings these songs together in a way that it looks like zach walks from room to room with the band meeting him at each spot performing a different song. If you're in the U.S. you can still order the DVD-- just work your way thru the French ordering site :)
beirut are the best band in the world simple as.zach is a genius,it's so nice to see someone so young with so much talent this is my fav song from new album just ahead of nantes
This is my heart in love traveling in the circus swimming in hidden coves riding near windmills dancing in sunflowers skipping barefoot down an alley...kissing with tears dropping.
This is something I would do; I love Zach's voice; opera in this day and age. That, and the young following of this band is just more proof that I can't hate all humanity.
wow now that i think about your idea, i think thats an awesome idea and i think i might try it and maybe if i do ill put it on my profile because it sounds really cool
i like this video, it's almost like the band was only in his head.. and he walked out humming the tune..as if they were leaving the room and going back in.. you know?
@ihave2 haha i just clicked on the sevent page of comments out of boredom and there it was. being a drummer it definetly looks to me like a bass drum skin attatched with metak screwss to a wooden lid. this lid is removable and is what separates the skin from the physical barrel of the bass drum. usually the screws would go through the skin the lid and then into the bass drum.
@MrFlameYou its basically a shaman drum, or a frame drum.. its just a circular piece of wood with (usually animal) skin stretched on top, you usually hold it in you hand. watch they're take away show of "The Penalty" , its more obvious what it is in that one . cheers =)
My band director gave me the O.K. to do a cover of this song for our spring concert ! It's going to be so fun and I already have the lyrics :D !!! And I'm in 8th grade lol
yeah! i feel like making a movie out of the idea or something lol a musical, a lot like those old disney cartoons, but with this kind of music. people will all of a sudden have instruments and it'll be like a monologue, where he spills the thoughts from his head out in song..
this is the best song on the album...or at least my fave. anyone know if zach or blogotheque will be selling this on their website or in the us anytime soon? flying to europe to pick one up takes a few extra dollars from the bank account

I VOTE YAY! The album should come with a DVD of these.

This is something I would do; I love Zach's voice; opera in this day and age. That, and the young following of this band is just more proof that I can't hate all humanity.

it's almost like the band was only in his head..
and he walked out humming the tune..as if they were leaving the room and going back in.. you know?
they are releasing one and selling it once they start their tour of Europe (which actually started yesterday, i think)
I guess people don't understand observations because Beirut is one of my favorite bands.

goosebumps and hairs on end. In a good way.
