Whirled Publishing The temperatures were mild in the southern end of the Inside Passage, but in Glacier Bay NP (our most northern point of travel), we needed our heavier coats. There was a 20+ knot wind, and I had to use gloves, toboggan hat, thermal underwear and winter coat to combat the cold.

Methane levels are skyrocketing in the Arctic Circle so we are closely monitoring the effects. Methane traps the heat 100 times more than CO2. For us, the cruise was for our 30th anniversary and our last "official" family vacation, since our three boys are in the process of leaving the nest. At last count there were 1,045 glaciers in the Park. There are over 50 named glaciers, 7 of which are active tidewater glaciers that calve icebergs into the sea."

Pardon me for asking but why is it called Glacier Bay? Did you see any glaciers?
