33:59 "Oh, Wolf. You, ginger looking canadian...That acts like a native guy." "He doesn't act like a native guy, he acts like a crazy person." So basically, he's Pat.
Pat needs to be an announcer in a fighting game. "Perfect" "Nice Tech!" and if you do well with a new character "Why don't you play this guy? You should play him."
Virtua Fighter is so ridiculously complex, technical and yet simple. I haven't even begun to understand one of the characters yet. The martial arts also look really accurate imo.
+TheSamuraiGoomba I knew a good group on Xbox 360 who knew this game to the core. I was good because they taught me so much. When I found out how to play, I was on the game 24/7. I just hope they're making another. At least a remake or something because It just died so fast. I know it's simple, but when I learned how to do Akira's hogekiun shinshokosho, I liked to do cheeky things at the end of the ring. I bought an Arcade stick just to do his one frame knee consistently. The characters in this game are well crafted too. Just a beautiful game.
Execution is simple. You don't do much juggling or linking combos. Most of the fighting comes down to footsies. Basically: - You got your crouching guard and high guard - You got your throw/grab, which has two variations: one for standing opponent and one for crouching opponent - You can also jump (and attack in air) - You can side step, back dash, front dash, etc With that you got quite a bit of options. Most importantly: - side-stepping is good against most straight forward attacks or vertical attacks, but may be vulnerable to throws and any horizontal attacks such as roundhouse kicks and sweeps. - throws can be countered by crouching, a quick attack that interrupts the throw, or by inputting the corresponding throw escape the moment you are about to be thrown The game might not look fast, but when you really play and juggle the amount of options you have it can be quite demanding. Spacing plays quite a big role as you can move in 8 different directions + hop
@giveagoodsong Yeah the game does have some unrealistic elements however the animations for the moves and the actual fighting styles themselves are pretty realistic tbh... also the moon jumps from the earlier VF games are not really apparent in VF5...

Seeing as how Jeffrey was around before kazuya, and was wearing that costume since the first game, wouldn't that make kazuya the "Japanese Jeffrey"? Lol
@@nawraskhalil2712 it probably depends on the char, but the first VF is a couple of years older than Tekken ahah. I think even Virtua Fighter 2 came before the first Tekken.
I wouldn't call Akira a Ryu rip-off since he doesn't play like him or have similar moves. He looks like him but it's not as if Ryu's appearance is a particularly unique. He's just an average looking dude in a gi.The only reason I would consider calling Akira a rip-off of Ryu is that he is also the main character of his series. On the other hand, Ryo is probably the most shameless rip-off in fighting game history. He looks like Ryu, his moves are almost identical in appearance, execution, and function, and even his name is almost the same.
Well, originally Ryo was a joke character and a parody of Ryu. Think about it, his fireballs dissipate quickly, he shoryukens with the wrong arm, and he can't to a real Tatsu. And then Capcom made Dan, a parody of the parody character.
Josh W I personally don't have a problem with Akira, but Taka can go kindly fuck off in my opinion. Not just for ripping off Honda, but also because I hate that "sumo wreastler" look in general.
They should have made it now, we’d get the trio of 6th entries to 3D fighters: SoulCalibur VI Dead or Alive 6 And Virtua Fighter 6 That would have been awesome.
Anyone else want to see them play Mortal Kombat Armageddon just because of its insanely large cast and how much they love to talk about MK games and how much they can say the multitude of different characters are dumb and which ones they actually like.
Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when we do it for the team! :D You must understand it had to be done so they could get it out of the way and sate us with shitty MK game before MK X comes out. Also so they can comment on which shitty characters made it into the game and are actually fucking cool now and which ones are super dead in the comics which would make them happy.
Honestly, Low punch is really only a good option if you use it unpredictably. It has almost no range, it doesn't actually hit low, it isn't plus on block or on standard hit, and because it's fast and hard to react on, most players won't be able to capitalize when they get advantage on counter hit, instead opting for another unrewarding low punch, or at higher levels, a fuzzy guard. If you see someone doing low punches, there are tons of things you can do when you see the first punch. In general, the best option is a backdash after you block or eat a standard hit. After the back dash, you can go for a quick mid - 6p (forward punch) is usually the best choice. You can actually do the 6p without the backdash and beat a second low punch if you blocked the first and your opponent is mashing, but a backdash is a bit safer if your opponent is using a low punch to bait you or to setup a throw or mixup. The backdash also forces many options (specifically low punch) to whiff, so you can whiff punish most throws and some launchers with the same 6p follow-up, albeit at a different timing in some cases. Even if they block the 6p, they won't be able to punish it, so in the worst case scenario you may have to block a mixup or scramble to avoid a setup. That said, there have been times when I honestly didn't expect the spam, and ended up eating the spam and the setup. So yeah, it's only good if you don't expect it, or don't know how to beat it. The good thing about VF is that there are always tons of viable options . Besides backdash 6p, there are also reversals, sabakis, low throws, jump attacks, and even standard attacks that can beat low punch consistently. The hard part is reacting to the low punch and using your counter at the right time. Then you have to worry about getting baited...
Yeah execution wise the game is pretty simple. Most of the challenge comes from the decision making, footsies, frame recovery knowledge and throw escapes.
@giveagoodsong I agree with you on that one... it's such a shame that none of the Virtua Fighter games are on PC apart from the first and second game... SEGA should really port VF5 to PC at some point though...
I like how when Pat does well with characters he just stops picking them to make it fair. But when Woolie has his best all he does is pick them until someone calls him out.
So yeah, I looked up Akira's fighting style, and it's not Karate, but a Chinese martial art called 'Bujiquan' or something similar. Blue light means recovery hit. You've hit the enemy while he was recovering from either a missed or blocked hit. Stagger is signaled by the moving joystick icon

Akira is not even a Karate guy. He practices Bajiquan Kung Fu. (same as Kokoro in Dead or Alive 4/5) So it was really a confusing move to give him a white Karate gi from the start, but if you notice, besides the blue Bajiquan outfit in this game, he's had one since the first.

ZEeduardo94 There are apparently a number of different standards for ranks, which is rather interesting, I was under the impression there was only one way as well.
This video has some of the funniest Matt lines of all time. "Woolie should kiss his muscles and say he's gonna fight the prime minister and say his name is Clobbersaurus. Oh, you sat on meeeeeee…"
Okay, we all know 'American' Matthew 'The Shockmaster' McMuscles, Grand Champion of the Order of the Storm Feelers and CEO of the Super Best Friends Zaibatsu is hype. BUT... is it just me or does this series bring him down a bit? I mean, it seems like every week the competition is between Pat and Woolie and then Liam comes third...
I find this to be one of the most entertaining fighting games to watch ever! More than SF, Mortal Combat, Mahvel, Tekken or whatever else. This is golden entertainment! First case of a fisticuffs where I call for an encore episode.
Haha, Woolie is right about that Aoi thing, my friend was once translating a song and was stumped at a part that brought up 'aoi' because he didn't know whether it should be blue or green in context.
Here after the new VF showdown release on PlayStation plus. This was fun watching being that this is one of the few fighting games Ihavent played a lot of when iwas a kid it is still nostalgic though
VF showdown is one of the few fighting games where I'm never salty when I play. I actually rooting for my opponent, and if I lose all I gotta say is "Wow, that was dope, GG dude. Ya got me :)"
Ah Virtua Fighter 5, my favorite fighting game of all time. Probably the easiest fighting game to learn as well. Shame it isn't as popular as other fighters.
I'm amazed at how much picking the boss upsets them. My friends and I always thought the boss characters (not in this game specifically, but in a bunch of others) were easy baby characters. I guess why we thought that was because the guys who took the bosses were usually terrible at the game. Even though the bosses are super powerful, it couldn't help them win. I had never seen a person win with a boss character until I started watching FNF.
Speedwagon_Corporation Well, Yamazaki is possessed and CONTROLS an ancient Japanese demon god, and Goh is just an asshole. He's a Yakuza assassin Judo asshole, but he doesn't have the Orochi advantage. That's the problem with comparing VF with other franchises, is that they don't have shit like the Satsui no Hado, which makes good fighters pretty much superhuman.
Huy Dao in VF4 she looked super glossy. like, glossier than a girl from an ecchi harem anime. and that's pretty glossy. also, her country of origin is unknown.
+Sanobearon Correction: As long as it got Africa root, its straighten out . Also, don't really remember any gloss, u could have thought of teh Rock's baby oil or something since VF is more like a sport thing. But what I do remember are: 6 packs, choco black, 6 packs, Storm hair, 6 packs, high muscular skin exposure, MUST main. Unique physical traits for a 3D chara in FG anywhere, even now. Did I mention the 6 packs?
Huy Dao all I remember is that gloss and that really fucked looking face. she just looked weird. VF5 really improved her design, and she still looks black. and how can you not tell how glossy she looks in VF4 when there's so much light reflecting off of her skin? hell, they even restructured her face in VF5. and yes, her country of origin is actually unknown because that's what Sega has done with her story. she might be black but that doesn't mean she's from Africa. that's really racist to say.
+Sanobearon Two things: Racist? Is that how it come across, goodness me. What I meant was that a kick-ass black female is very cool. Where her from doesn't matter tbh, keep the origin ambiguous is better, brilliant even. And the gloss, after booted up my PS2 version, I still thought that's what people with baby oil on look like. Not that I even dislike VF5 version or anything, but just 1 thing tho, she noticeably leaner, the lack of muscle strain bother me more than I should have. Also whiter, just saying.
Because the Zaibatsu got word that the world is ending tomorrow morning, so they wanted us to see at least one more video from them before we all die in a fiery inferno.
Fun fact: despite looking like the stereotypical karate man, Akira's fighting style is actually bājíquán.

Never played VF before but it seems like the world's most respectable fighter. Is this series just seen as a "unsung hero" of fighting games?
Pretty much, it's super solid, but it doesn't have enough flair to grab the attention of a casual viewer, you kinda have to figure out just what it's about to appreciate it. At first glance it looks like a martial arts simulator. lol

-gray belt
-blue belt
-yellow belt
-orange belt
-green belt
-purple belt(where I'm at)
-brown belt(not an official master, but you can legally get paid to teach judô, I think, I'm not sure)
-black belt(master)
and 10 dans(degrees) later.....
-red and white belt(grand-master).
That's interesting, that's not the same order we use in Finland. Here it goes white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black.
MikkoLovesGaming well, that's odd hehe, I thought it was universal
ZEeduardo94 There are apparently a number of different standards for ranks, which is rather interesting, I was under the impression there was only one way as well.
Pat getting super hype over the idea of seeing sumo wrestlers is a highly underrated moment
Damn, Ya'll weren't lying, Pat's pretty good at VF
Damn Akira doesn't use Karate. He uses Bajiquan, and it is a Chinese martial art. It is annoying how ppl keep calling it karate.
This video has some of the funniest Matt lines of all time. "Woolie should kiss his muscles and say he's gonna fight the prime minister and say his name is Clobbersaurus. Oh, you sat on meeeeeee…"
I Want Makoto To Cradle Me In Her Strong Arms
Me too.
I Want Makoto To Cradle Me In Her Strong Arms
too
35:40 Woolie makes a sincere, unironic appeal to his waifu. Not sure if cute or sad.
Is anyone else reminded of the ancient Proverb of Pat: "This is going to be a curbstomp symphony."
A wrestler actually used a Wolf Hawkfield gimmick in Japan
Oh boi, that waifu little rhyme made me geniunely happy.
Virtua figter is back so l had to wach this again because l know more about this game now... And l love these guys...😭
Liam- "Ultimate Rising Superstar".
Smooth Liam, smooth
Okay, we all know 'American' Matthew 'The Shockmaster' McMuscles, Grand Champion of the Order of the Storm Feelers and CEO of the Super Best Friends Zaibatsu is hype. BUT... is it just me or does this series bring him down a bit? I mean, it seems like every week the competition is between Pat and Woolie and then Liam comes third...
Well Pat and Woolie are just a lot more into fighting games.
Ayrton Braam All fighting games are mostly different though. Just because you're good at street fighter doesn't mean you'll be good at blazblue.
Matt's actually just a Pro Blaze Blue fighter, and he doesn't understand these games anymore.
I'd give the third place to Matt this time.
@@sloshed-rat wholesome
24:34 That's like the best Michinoku Driver in any game ever.
Virtua Fighter 5! For! The! Win! I need to play this again.
"You can't have to many wifus, it will ruin your lifu." Give Liam a raise.
I love all the Ippo references they do now :)
5:28 - 5:49 This description deserves its own video.
Great game! i love VF 5 one of the most rewarding fight games out there.
Gotta give it to Woolie for not taking things so seriously the past few weeks.
This is the one I've been waiting for!
I never realized how much I missed Liam.
It's been the Woolie Channel for a couple weeks now.
Akira doesn't fight with Karate though......Jean does......
The boat story had me rolling. This was the FnF yet.
Dudes and Lady Dudes... What if Goh met Yamazaki and they decided to have a fight to the death? Would the world explode from their battle?
Speedwagon_Corporation Well, Yamazaki is possessed and CONTROLS an ancient Japanese demon god, and Goh is just an asshole. He's a Yakuza assassin Judo asshole, but he doesn't have the Orochi advantage. That's the problem with comparing VF with other franchises, is that they don't have shit like the Satsui no Hado, which makes good fighters pretty much superhuman.
+TheEditedOne Depends on if you're talking about KOF Yamazaki which is the orochi possessed one or FF Yamazaki who isn't.
Maxamillion accidently spoiled this on his stream. I was super hyped to see u guys had played this.
I actually like that they lightened Vanessa because in VF4 she looked like a woman who tanned too much...
+Sanobearon Curious: U thought of that instead of, Idk, she might be from Uganda and such?
"Having too many Waifus will ruin your laifu"
-Pat the GInger
"Talking is bullshit. Fuck this channel." -Woolie
Woolie only knows the lyrics from rewatching "Make a Dan out of you" so much, doesn't he?
So Lei Fei is basically Zaheer from Legend of Korra.
You would think a guy wearing a gi named Akira would be doing karate but he's not. Those thrusting elbows are Bajiquan specialty.
I don't understand. Why is Saturday Morning Kerfuffle being posted early?
Because the Zaibatsu got word that the world is ending tomorrow morning, so they wanted us to see at least one more video from them before we all die in a fiery inferno.
"Your tastes are shit!" Woolie 100% right. Vanessa best VF character.
Hearing them talk and laugh like friends.........what happened? Why did it have to end
Sigh...i miss it man, miss the good old days...
Woolie: "Bitch Nigga Shark!"
Matt: "I was waiting for it! I was waiting for the reason we keep you around!"
These tears.....are flowing...
I'm gonna be an ugly nerd and inform everyone Akira uses Bājíquán, not Karate.
Sexual preference: karate
*****
Gender: Karate
And that would be Kung Fu, Jean uses Karate
Riskbreak you can clearly see that his stances are not karate at all
i just love a good round of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Virtua Fighter 5!
Akira > Ryu.
Also Brad Burns > Brad Wong.
Ada Wong > Brad Wong
Well duh. Brad's an ass, and he's no match for dat ass.
What's wrong with brad Wong?
bitch please. Brad Wong is #1
Classic game, been playing since the first one. good times.
It looks like Aoi is using a form of Aikido not sure which school .
