It feels like the media are realizing many are turning their backs on them and finding out the news themselves without the biased-ness of the mainstream news we have on TV / newspapers etc.

Perhaps it is time to insist that all news is factual, unbiased and not sensationalised. In an ideal world, journalists should be in search of truth, questioning narratives and non-partisan.
