    Scania V8 pure power...R730 model that's 730 HP straight from factory. In EU trucks are built for quality in N.America they built trucks for quantity;) I've been driving here 26 years and in N.America we still in Stone Age compare to EU or Australia...simple thing cab noise level, after 20 years no wonder truckers have hearing problems or back problem because this such fantastic seat ( National 2000 ) are so great I wouldn't personally installed in my farm tractor:D
    20-25 years ago there were some dealers of Scania in PA and in NJ but they close its location... Scania engines are still present as marine engines for N.America...
    I remember some 20 years I've seen Mexican drivers coming to Laredo,TX terminal with Scania T-Cab model
    Congrats to JJ for visiting us in Canada & amazing recording to BigRig Videos.... Thank you for making happen! Cheers mate... Mike

      +MikeVN680 i agree to one point but you have a big advantage. you have much more space in your cab than european trucks. and thats a very important point. think about that you are on the road for 3 or 4 weeks with space thats no more than your bed. Other important difference are the roads, your roads can take much more trucks in future, your roads are wide, bigger, more lanes. EU roads are full, truck stops are full each night, no place to park and sleep and that is now. Think about that there will be much more trucks on road in future to transport all that stuff. You may be something behind european trucks, but overall - my opinion - you are far in front.

      I also agree with you respectively...Each continent have own advantages when it comes to truck comfort right. Old continent ( Europe ) it self is small roads, crowded and no room to park yes that's true but when it comes to technology of truck building Europe is way ahead of the rest.Drivers in N.America are spoiled but lazy I've seen this on roads every day because I drive here for 26 years...in N.America yes trucks are big with big sleepers but why ? Did you ever ask you self that ? Because all this truck manufactures are push by trucking company's ... Reason ? They want you to sit in truck like slave for a month or two so the dollar can roll towards their bank accounts... No one care about a driver... You as driver are just a number in that company...nothing less nothing more. In Europe you have trip to do and you back with your kids and family for the weekend..
      A Cowboy always going to say all the good things about His horse....respect ... Mike

    I drive a V8 Scania across Europe. The newer 16l V8 is a good engine to tune too. Without many changes you can see over 1000bhp / 2950lbft at the crank. Only sad thing is the newer V8's are loosing their bark thanks to emissions. In 170,000km mine hasn't gone wrong. Just had its second oil change with the dealer. My V8 Scania before this 1 last 9 years & 1.5 million km with no issues. It was only sold as the emissions weren't the best for cross Europe running. I'm regularly away for 3-4 weeks doing up to 13,000km in 1 trip. It returns over 7.5mpg US (9mpg UK/31.4l 100km) running at 40t (88k lb & 5 axles) & a little less running at 44t (97k lb 6 axles) in the UK

      I think they are made in Mexico so run freqently into places like NM TX and CA, also the 2 and 3 series were once sold in the states, just CoEs don't sell very well in the USA, which is why Freightliner made the Argosy into an Australia/NZ/South Africa model now.

      @@Its_Me_Romano well, try tried but failed. In 1985 the Scania 112M was introduced to the US. The problem was that the truck itself was too heavy and scanias big lack of infrastructure in north america lead to its failure.
      The only thing scania makes in the US are marine engines. Ranging from 275hp (9L Inline 6) to 770hp (16.4L Turbo V8).

    • @tcb1017
      @tcb1017 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So Susan, many reasons why American truckers did not like them. I could write a book about that. Me being from California, I bought one back in Illinois drove it to California used it there for 3 years could not get anymore parts and service so I drove it to New York and shipped it to Sweden and picked it up there and drove it to Finland and sold it there wow, so much money and time waisted because I wanted to won a Scania. Yes, great truck, I know all about it because I drove them in Scandinavia back in the 70sh ok that's another story so anyway, many reasons why Scania did not make it in America. TCB.

      That wasn't about the turbo, that was about the open exhaust, he can close it so that it isn't so loud for when he's driving at night or in the city and he doesn't want to bother people... over here you can actually get a ticket if your echaust makes too much decibels and i think it needs to not be too loud when it has it's anual check up.

    • @tcb1017
      @tcb1017 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Björn Göransson Bjorn, yes you are right on. And not just being registered as an RV it's only a Temp special permit being and using it in the US. I had my own Scania ones in the US and that was a legal one those Scanias that was sold in the US for a short time but them all being only 112/113 six cylinders no V8's like this one is. So anyway, I used mine in California I even installed a like they say in Europe BOGGIE axel since all those export Scania's come with only American style TANDEM axels so anyway, my story could be a long one but life goes on. Take care now Bjorn. Sound's like you are a Scandinavian man with your name so maybe you live in the US or back in Scandinavia or ok anywhere else. The name yes, is Swedish but the person could live anywhere LOL. Take care now.

    I beg for the big balanced v8, been tortured by everything weird for years. The last balanced v8 was in a mack, by scania. Today the 3208 lives on as a smaller version. I hope something bigger comes of this journey. Fulfill a long running dream.

      Actually the last Mack V8 was made by Renault. The E-9 525 HP was a true beast of a motor. My dad a 93 Superliner with one and took it out and did some work and put it in a 96 CH613. He could drop a gear, gas on it and break traction at 75 mph under load. It was insanely powerful when he was done with it. Put something like 1200 HP to the ground. I miss that truck.

      Mack v8 not made by Scania, they just had similar firing order and sound

      @MrJpsj 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The E series (1990's) Mack engines had the Renault insignia on the block on both sides of the motor (next to the fuel pump and directly below the turbocharger) so yes they were built in buy Renault in partnership with Mack.

    How do Americans react when they see the Dutch license plate? Do they know where it's coming from? How do they react when they hear an European truck is driving through America? How about parts which you need in case of a breakdown? Are these available in the US? I keep watching this video. :D
