    I still think it's funny that I did this whole girl using different products (paint pens, alcohol based and wax pencils) all from just the Sharpie company! What's your favorite Sharpie product??

    Love love the toned paper and her gorgeous face!! Was so happy to be able to see your reference picture. It’s always amazing to me that you have the ability to take any picture and put your own style to it. Love this video💕💕

    I had a “Noooooo” moment. Decided to use a paper bag for tone. Decided to use charcoal, too. no. I closed the unfinished piece in my journal, came back to it and the charcoal literally disappeared! 😂 All That work rubbed right off. I should’ve known better. You live you learn. On a happy note, I stole your charcoal in a sock idea. Only I use burned wood coals from our wood burning stove. It works beautifully & I have endless charcoal supplies... for free! If only I’d known you years ago.

    Hey, I wasn't sure how to contact you. I came across your videos of fashion drawings... I was going along learning with you and feeling the frustration and laughing along... I had to stop and deal with life for a bit and when I got back home I had a video on my suggested list from a very dapper looking young gent that was also doing fashion drawing..... I had to just let you know cause I followed his little 9:18 minute video and had myself a dang 9 head drawing done in that time..... I wish I could've shown you this video back then!!!! I just couldn't believe how quickly he broke it down!!! I just wanted to share... Ok. Back to your art school vids 😁

    I love using the toned tan paper for drawing faces. I feel like it gives me a head start☺. Your sharpie girl looks great!! When you got out that monster sharpie, I was thinking "yikes", but you made it work beautifully Karen☺

    Love her! This made me think about making some toned backgrounds in my mixed media journal. I think I'll mix a little acrylic ink into gesso to make custom grounds. You ALWAYS inspire me. XO

    Hi Karen! When you said you were using only Sharpies, I had no clue Sharpie made the pencils featured in this video. Can you tell me more about them? I feel yet another Amazon purchase coming on.......the project is beautiful btw, I gotta try this technique on the brown paper pad wasting away in one of my bins.

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Greta! Yes those are called China Markers (USA Generals also makes them I believe, I have link to them on my website: karencampbellartist.com/supplies). They are most frequently used by carpenters to write on wood! They aren't that expensive either!

  • @marinazanotta
    @marinazanotta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you usually use a fixative (spray for example) to keep the pencil lines and shadows unaltered?
    Good work! :)
    Good night.
    Marina

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marina Zanotta great question! Actually foe these I don't because the China Markers are super waxy, they honestly don't budge, even if you wanted them to!!

      Bridgett Wonder it's so super satisfying!! Think big thick grocery bag! You can see it in my list of favorite supplies on karencampbellartist.com/supplies (I think it's the Brown Bee Co?)

  • @katf3836
    @katf3836 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Karen, I've been meaning to ask you. When you draw these beautiful women, do you have her already in your head and she just comes out.... or does she make herself known when you put the pencil to the paper? I know me, it's just what comes out of putting that pencil down. I rarely can get exactly what I have in my head and I can never really do the same girl twice. lol BTW, I think my favorite sharpie product the metallic marker. It's ALL PURPOSE but so is the black and all the colors. I've always wanted to try the art pens. Thanks!

    • @katf3836
      @katf3836 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ooooh, and do you always go off of a reference?

    • @KarenCampbellArtist
      @KarenCampbellArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Kat. I used to ONLY draw from my imagination but over time I notice what a better drawer I am if and when I use a reference so now I almost always do. And honestly it's not for copying as much as for references shadows and shapes. If it looks the same, cool, if not, even better!! Then it's my own!

    • @katf3836
      @katf3836 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Karen!! I'm going to have to start using a reference to refine my drawing I think!!
