    It wasn’t completely accurate, Some things were taking out of context and for entertainment purposes only, but I do respect the accurate things that were in the movie, As a Christian I give it an honest 7/10.

      To be honest, I struggle think of many aspects in the movie that were accurate, but I'm glad you enjoyed it overall more than I did!

      @@TheCollisionbmi lol, yeah, I mean I read the Bible almost everyday so I heard a lot of things I’ve heard from the book itself, Now for example……the part in the movie where the devil constantly messed with Mary wasn’t completely true, yeah the devil bothers us all but Mary was extremely important to Jehovah aka Yahweh so he wouldn’t allow the devil to have direct contact with Jesus earthly mother, so no Mary did not speak with the devil like she did in the film, that’s purely false information, that was completely entertainment purposes, I like how they tried to make her normal, because Mary was a normal human also the so-called spirit-beings in the film weren’t accurately depicted as I hoped but it’s Hollywood, not a real religions network, Furthermore, I don’t hate the movie……but I can’t say it was all bad, I wish a lot would have been better and more accurate but I understand it’s difficult to so when Mary isn’t talked about a lot in the scriptures.

    My fiancé and I read the relevant passage in Matthew and Luke before watching the film which was nice because this way we could easily spot which parts of the biblical timeline and narrative the film got wrong. The biggest issue I had with it is that the temple and the way people interacted around the temple looked way off (It seemed like Mary was on multiple occasion in the holy place where only male descendants of Levi where allowed). Also Gabriel looks weird and his conversation with Mary is at the wrong location and his conversation with Joseph near the water is just weird. I found the full assassins' creed moment with Mary on the rooftop hilarious because of its silliness. The film does have some nice acting, the characters (Mary, Joseph, Herod) where portrayed in a way I could imagine them to have been and it has some great visuals. All in all I think it is a decent attempt at the film industry making a film about a biblical story, I hope they keep doing that.

      I really appreciate this positive and thoughtful approach. I’m with you on your last point too. I wasn’t a fan of this attempt, but I do hope Hollywood keeps trying to make films like this.

    Just watched it - beautiful cinematography, lovely costume, wonderfully acted but the story line was just not gripping enough. 5/10 from me.

      Thanks for sharing. I agree. Some of the visuals were good, but not an engaging story. Which is odd, because it felt like the movie goes out of its way to try and add action and spectacle into the story, but it still comes across so flat and unexciting.

    I really loved it. I watched it today. I was gonna cry at one part. I forgot what it was but that king was such a psycho and I’m a Christian. I loved it. It’s 10/10

    the first line "only know the story as it is written in the bible" .... it is the sole source of definitive information.....

      Tradition dog. Tradition.

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah tradition, and just plenty of apocryphal texts and legends. Lots of material out there, but as you say, only one definitive and historically reliable source.

    It was not true to scripture. The immaculate conception and her interaction with Gabriel was wrong. It was a romance story and that's all.

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not even really sure it even works as a romance. I found Joseph’s quick pursuit and marriage of Mary to be almost unsettling. The whole movie is just a weird one for me.

    This movie came right from the Tree of Knowledge, it certainly didn’t come form the Tree of Life.
    It should show as fiction or Si-Fi
    So much was just made up garbage

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not necessarily made up by the filmmakers, since they were themselves drawing from different ancient texts, but certainly fiction. To me it had the feel of legends or myth, rather than being based in the true history of the biblical text.

    Is this worth watching even from an entertainment perspective?

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe, just in the sense that you don’t have to pay for it if you have Netflix. But setting aside the biblical stuff, I just didn’t think it was an entertaining or interesting movie.

      Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to. I’d wanted to, but with all the other movies coming out before Christmas, I don’t think I’ll have time to catch up on it. I haven’t really heard much talk about it either way if it’s good or not

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just saw an ad and realized I got mixed up on the release date somehow and thought the movie had just come out, but see now that it doesn't come out until Christmas Day. So there's still a chance I do a review for it, although the Christmas releases are tough, I wouldn't be able to catch it until a week or so afterwards.

    Its a what if story.. what if mary stayed in isreal and not fled to egypt .. the whole temple proclaimed him . .. a fan fiction

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hadn’t thought of it in terms of a “what if” story, but that’s not a bad description for it.

    It’s not at all biblical

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, very few moments feel drawn directly from the biblical texts, and those that were have been altered enough that they may. as well have come from other sources.

    Probably roman propaganda

  • @firebearfl643

    It was a dismal fabrication.

    • @TheCollisionbmi
      @TheCollisionbmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And to me, the fabrication part would be more tolerable if it wasn't, as you say, dismal. The whole thing just felt really misguided to me, trying to please all audiences and seeming to please none as a result.
