False positive Stannous test | troubleshooting & tips

False positive Stannous test may wrongly cause you thought you have gold in the solution and waste your time and chemicals to drop thing that actually doesn't exist.
i just made this video for many requests about failure to drop gold..even after boiling for a few hours...
i tried to troubleshoot one of the most important reason for this...

Hi, I wanted to see how much gold was in one regular desktop computer..after adding SMBS the next morning i saw the black gold oxide dust forming on the bottom of the beaker.. but the same morning I went to the vacation, leave it for 2 days, when I back I was accepted the separation going well due to times but strangely I saw the gold are totally gone.. nothing on the glass.. more strange the tin chloride test shows no trace of gold in that solution..I can’t understand what’s happening..

How do you neutralize nitric acid in aqua regia to precipitate gold?
I personally have found that gold will not precipitate if the nitric acid is too strong. I have seen gold form as spiked crystals in a resting transluscent green solution then disappear. I did test with stannous chloride and with the jewelers platinum solution test. The purplish colour indicates gold, the yellow orange indicates platinum, the reddish orange indicates paladium.
