I agree that pre timeskip is more consistent, but post timeskip has way better pay off and world building. Fishmen island and punk hazard could have been better, but dressrosa, wci, wano and egghead are just as good as most of the pre timeskip arcs imo and by the time one piece will be over I don't think it will be as easy to decide which half is better.
@YouzerseifYoucef then why are you making videos about one piece. As far as I know nobody says fishmen island or punk hazard are better than marineford and I've never heard anybody saying that
Listen if you can watch or read One Piece past Arlong Parc it you're still not hooked, just drop it. You're not gonna suddenly like it anywhere else in the story just because the stakes are raised. Nami's backstory and the take down of the Arlon Pirates are the blueprint for (almost) every other arc that follows, but done differently with higher stakes and more visual spectacle. But if the "please help me" line from Nami and the badass walk to Arlong Parc that follows don't get you teared up and then immediately hyped AF, then this story just isn't your thing, and that's ok. Doesn't mean the show is bad or that you have bad taste, it just means it's not your flavor.
I actually enjoyed watching One piece, even the worst arcs still have great episodes ( mostly comedy ) the begining and ending of each arc is always worth watching, the begining is the funniest, while the ending is the most dramatic
At no point during my video did i say that i didn't enjoy One ^piece, I mean why would i watch hundreds of episodes if i didn't like it? that is just not right
@@YouzerseifYoucef I didn't say you didn't enjoy it, but the whole "it gets better after this or this arc" is usually an argument of OP fans trying to convince people who are starting to watch it and are not liking it as much as their OP fan friend is hyping it up. I never got the whole "it gets better after this or this" argument because the show is pretty consistent in its quality from the very beginning, although it does ramp up the drama at Baratie and Arlong Parc.
As a one piece fan, I really agree what you're saying. It made me realize many things about one piece, especially when you showed the similarities between arcs. I do believe that the similarities are probably the biggest problem, as the pacing is probably going to get completely redone (as fishman island is doing right now). Recent arcs like Egghead have been feeling more complex and diverse compared to arcs like Dressrosa, so hopefully one piece will become a good show like it once was in pre-timeskip. Although I am worried that Elbaph will be similar to arcs like Dressrosa, Alabasta, and Fishman Island.
Oda is a genuis for keeping a show alive for over 1100+ episodes without backlash, and he will always find ways to adapt, I'm looking forward to see what he has coming next because he tends to always surprise me
Like Who expected Gear5 to be the way it was? it was a unique and risky move by him, it didn't resonate with everyone but it sure as hell fitting for the character of luffy
@YouzerseifYoucef and gear 5 is perfect for one piece. It's not a serious anime 24/7, it's supposed to be funny and light hearted until something big happens.
@YouzerseifYoucef don't skip anything. It reveals sanjis backstory and has a bunch of great moments. Also luffy vs katakuri is insane. The emotional Rollercoaster is perfect.
I don't really understand the Dressrosa hate, because some of the battles (including macho man vs diaper man) genuinely hyped me up. But at the end of the day, guess everyone has different tastes.
I agree. Dressrosa was mid and I stopped watching during whole cake island, Big Mom was a major let down and it felt like the villains were going out of their way to let Luffy and co win.
I think this isn’t as huge of a problem if you read the manga instead. I can get behind the argument of repeated story tropes. Marine ford fore sure did something that the story has never done since. But a lot of pacing problems I feel only applies to the anime. An interesting comparison is jojo. Jojo has 957 manga chapters, with part 1-6 covered in 194 anime episodes. Even when all of jojo has gotten animated, it won’t even reach half of the total one piece episodes that are out right now. With one piece having almost the exact equal amount of manga chapters compared to anime episodes.
I liked One Piece more before Haki was introduced as a counter to practically everything that the series had previously set up. Once Haki came along, Devil Fruits lost much of their fear factor and trivialized them. Previously battles took some kind of ingenuity (in the form of utilizing a devil fruits weakness" if not overpowering it with raw willpower. Then with the introduction of haki as a literal manifestation of willpower in the form of essentially magic power, battles became about who had "the stronger magic". Luffy was a character with an unexceptional devil fruit, that he utilized in such a way that it made him a contender in a sea of seemingly way stronger foes, the underdog way, which a lot of people naturally respond to. Then the reveal that actually he ate one of the most, if not the most powerful devil fruit in the whole story...so might possess two of the most powerful forms of in universe magic... Even now, the future of the story is mainly hedged on who is going to have the strongest "magic" and what they decide to do with it. Then you think back to Luffy vs Crocodile and you learn that Crocodile is an advanced Haki user, even back then when he fought Luffy... The more thats added, the mor the original pattern frays around the edges.
@@RottenFilmProduction I think Oda wasnt sure how people would fight the likes of kizaru lol, to think that everyone has to counter them is surely a headache, Haki was a solution but, in my opinion if he added restrictions on it it would've been perfect
I think getting better is a very broad thing to say. It really depends on which aspects that you are looking at. I would say that it gets better in some aspects, but if were talking about just generally speaking I still think Marineford and Enies Lobby are the most iconic arcs. So as far as story progression goes, I think post time skip does "get better", but if were just looking at pacing and padding, then I would say its worse. This is a Toei problem though, in the manga the pacing is so much better. Hopefully this argument makes sense, I didn't want to be one of those defensive One Piece fans that just says you are wrong. You are right in some ways, but I believe you would either enjoy the manga or one pace more.
He got Sage mode during Shippuden tho, and that's after Jiraya's death, Naruto is my favorite Anime and my gate to anime in the first place, but man, it was very underwhelming how little he improved, Sakura in the other hand got so much stronger, so it kinda distracted us
