I applied during the 2021 Christmas season. There were four jobs listed on the website. One was seasonal, the other 3 were permanent. I applied for one of the permanent golf jobs and I got it but I never worked a single day in golf. I was on the front end register every day. When I asked about this after my first few days, they told me they needed most people on the registers and that after Christmas was over, I would be fully placed into golf. This went on for about three weeks until I asked again why I still hadn’t been transferred yet and I was told that my job was temporary. So not only was I lied to about the job I would be getting but I was also lied to about being a permanent worker. All they wanted was another ringer for the Christmas season. Never in my life have I worked for a company so deceptive and dishonest.
I gotta say that I 100% agree with what you said about Dicks. I work there right now for 15 in NY, but the scheduling is always an issue and the managers always want me in different departments. It's a lot at the end of the day. I still enjoy it though, its a job for now
The scheduling is annoying for sure. I tend to get stuck in one place and spend all my shifts in the soccer section. I wish I made more money but it's not too bad.
@@nicholasbeskow5295 Very straightforward no longer than 10 minutes, They asked what my working experience was and about my availability. They asked where I’d hope to work and I told them the footwear department, I should be starting after memorial day because the manager emphasized that’s when the sales tend to go up and my help would be more crucial then. Hope this helped, good luck tomorrow!
I agree with 90% of what you’re saying. But there’s definitely room to move up with the pay. I’ve worked for the company for roughly 3ish years, I’m a lead now making just about double per hour what you’re making. I’m obviously now seeing this was over a year ago so assume you aren’t working there anymore but for anyone watching this, if you do the work, put in the time, you can indeed increase your pay to a good enough pay. Along with that, when yearly reviews come out, you typically get a yearly raise as well. So on top of just normal raises, you’re always guaranteed a raise yearly. So. It’s not all that bad. They’ve definitely gotten better with giving part timers more stuff as before part timers never got holiday pay which they switched in 2022, so that’s really nice since 90% of the staff is indeed part timers. They company is on the rise. So if you’re watching this now and thinking about applying, definitely give it a shot. Might be for you, might not. But it’s definitely worth trying out for all the reasons he said.
That is true. My Dicks days have passed me by. I would also agree that people should give it a shot. I came out with some close friends which made it worth it. Thanks for the comment beast
I would personally be super tight if I get denied from jobs that only pays $11/hr or what so ever. Denying me from minimum wage job means showing utter disrespect towards me, which I don’t take too well. Moreover, ghosting me after job interview for no reason is a problem. Also, the minimum wage nowadays is atleast $14 hours, in some place $15 an hour. So I would laughing on those people that pays at $11 in my city.
@@DaveedNation It went really well. I got the job on the spot, 15$/hr. She first asked “why Dick’s” and I talked about how I researched what former employees and what the reviews of the store are and said I was impressed by how many people said it was a good environment and such. Then I went on to say how I like their message/ mission statement (you can find on their website). I also went on their instagram for extra research and saw what they were doing for pride month and brought that up too and she was impressed. Then I asked the “tell me about yourself question.” Be careful what you bring up though cause I accidentally said I have siblings then she asked a question about them (it was unexpected). Specifically I brought up “emotional intelligence” which is big in customer service and she said she loved that. She said she likes my energy and had a lot to write down and offered me the position. At the end I asked “How is my success measured?” and she said thats a great question. It was my first interview ever too so I was nervous but fake it till you make it! Definitely prepare the answers to the most common questions in advance and do some basic research that you can bring up before they ask about it. It seems like a lot but it didn’t take long to formulate my answers and they’re reusable for other interviews. Good Luck tomorrow🤗

I mean I just want full-time I should be getting a raise in August where I'm at now and maybe if I'm lucky full-time. But where I'm at I have other issues like I took money out of my 401k to pay some debt off if I leave that company I'm be right back where I was at. Having a bunch of debt.
