- This month we have three exciting HO scale products to unbox! First up is our long awaited NH EP-5 with incredible operating pantograph, followed by our latest steam heater car release and last but not least, our GLa coal hoppers.

Great Video! Ok, now that you have those pantographs perfected on the EP-5's, you can now start using the EP-5's as a template in making GMD GF6C's for BC Rail! 👍 Oh, and don't forget us N Scalers! 😇
Pretty sure an operating pantograph in N scale would net us a Nobel Prize!

Very impressive! Noticed the prototype EP-5 videos had old baggage cars behind em, that's a badly needed model. Can't wait for my Jets!!!
We have our New Haven "County" baggage/coach cars in tooling now! Samples should be arriving before too long.

Regarding the experimental paint scheme - McGinnis has a locomotive painted with yellow and another painted in red-orange. He asked his wife - who was with him at the unveiling ar the GE plant in Erie - which one she liked better. She like the red-orange scheme. Source - The New Haven Railroad in the McGinnis Era by Marc J Frattasio, page 63. I highly recommend this book!

Love the Oprating pantographs. Hope they are more reliable than MTH'S atemps (roting rubber bands)
If you ever do NH washboards those Oprating pantographs must be used on those as well for GCT mode.

Excellent box size being compact and close enough to the size the freight car itself. Hopefully you guys could make the box for the locos small enough and compact too. Topping it off with many details Rapido makes!
It's a delicate balance to make small box while still providing adequate protection. We're working on it!

Awesome. Love the moving Pantagraphs on the EP-5s. I do think I've seen that on a model train before. Also out of curiosity, can the EP-5 be powered by overhead Pantagraphs as well? I've seen some folks have layouts where electric locomotives operate this way like the prototype.
Thanks! Unfortunately these are track-powered only. We just don't have the engineering capacity to have operating powered pantographs. Yet...
So I am guessing they have arrived, and if so thats good then! I shop at Otter Valley railroad and their ETA date was March 18th 2022 so its good they arrived early then!
Everything but the EP-5 has arrived. Those are due in mid March
I love steam heating or steam in general. Shame the new steam gennys don't make mist unlike the old ones which I own
We found the mechanism to be problematic, so thought it was best to drop it for this run.

Those EP-5's are very nice as well as those GLa hoppers. The strip of paper with the passenger silhouettes must've slipped down in those passenger cars though. Very unrealistic without actual passengers in the windows.
Adding figures at the factory would add a considerable cost, but fortunately there are many suppliers who make passenger figure sets for modellers to install.
Yes, correct. I was just making a funny about how far our hobby has come in the last 30-yrs. Rapido's models are advancing with each passing year as well. Good stuff old chap!

speaking of electrics, I hope you do some EMU's in both N and HO as a multiscale release. I hope you guys do the CCF CN EMU's and the MR-90s in N and HO(yes I bombard the suggestion form)and just hope people can take notice of them and buy them.

The Bachmann HHP-8 has a little switch to operate the model via the pantograph instead of the tracks. Is that something the EP-5 can do?
Unfortunately not. The EP-5 will only be track-powered.
Why do some of the EP5 have 2 white things per panograph and some have only one?
It's an optical illusion; they're tilted in certain shots so they appear to only have one pad.
Is this loco a Little Joe? No plans for a Milwaukee Road unit?
This is a New Haven/Penn Central locomotive that ran in the northeast. The Little Joe is a also a fascinating unit that we may explore!
What are the issues with the old style of steam generator cars? I haven't noticed anything wrong with mine. Also wondering if the shells from the new run will work with the old ones, should I choose to swap one out?
The older mechanism from the first release wasn't as reliable as we'd hoped. The shell should work on either chassis in any case.
Will you be doing a run of molten metal rotary ore cars
Anything is possible in the future, but we don't have plans to make those at this time.
