I want one. You can’t beat a covered wagon. E8’s are a very nice looking locomotive too bad it didn’t have the double headlight which means one of them would’ve been a Mars light that would’ve been so cool but I know you gotta do prototypical.
I’ve taken the shell off, it does have the provisions for a MARS light but since it wasn’t on the prototype then it won’t be on this unit.
I would love to see this come to N scale
I got mine and I absolutely love how it looks and the look of the box. The only part I nock points off for is the sound. I wish they could’ve been offered as a silent model. The speakers and sound decoder will be replaced with superior offerings when available to do so.
Thats great! During amtraks opening. They took e and f units from other railways with dying passenger service. Pretty cool.
Just got mine from Rapido directly--ordered via Rapido website. still appears to have an order option for 4316 on Rapido website, so maybe more still available. Great loco and I love the presentation case.
I was very excited to see mine came with not one but two pins! I wasn't aware they came in the box until i saw them... Top notch stuff!

This is the must-get Amtrak locomotive for the year, no better way to put it. It would've been cool if just for the 4316 and Amtrak units if functions 21-24 were Amtrak related sounds.

I got mine yesterday; it came from a Retailer from NY all the way to Merida, Yucatán- Mexico. Very well packed.

One thing I think I have to complain , although I have not an image from the rear, but is a DIAPHRAGM suppose to be at the rear door?

I was debating whether to leave mine unopened and treat it as a collectors item. But I just checked a major retailer and the Loco is in stock now. So if anyone that missed the initial preorder you can still get one. I guess Amtrak E8 #4316 is going to be rolling under the Christmas tree in a couple months. Now I need to get some passenger cars!! Good job guys.

@@rapidotrains I did. I haven't seen it available for purchase yet.
One thing I will say about this is it runs very well. Our layout is very demanding and has some steep grades and difficult vertical curves, and it took all of them like a champ.

Took a while from announcing/preorders to delivery. Thanks to covid times we live in I assume. But the customers that preordered it are more then happy with them. Should have ordered a extra one for myself. Hope my distributor has a extra one when I do my weekly order.

On Amtraks 100th Birthday, all their Units (Both new and old) should be painted in the Day 1 Livery of 4316.

Why no portholes? You mentioned that there are no portholes but why no portholes.
Some railroads had the portholes removed on their E8 diesels, often in during overhaul in the late 60s and early 70s. This was likely to save on maintenance costs.
I really wanna work for repeater trains but i’m too far and my parents won’t let 😢❤
