    I just bought this smoker this past Saturday. My two favorite features are the removable firepot and the taller cooking chamber. You effectively have two full size racks and a third smaller rack.

    I just bought mine.. I've had it less than 2 weeks .. super stoked about it. I bought it for ALL those reasons you listed, plus the 32 lb hopper and all the fold up trays.
    BONUS: it's got a lot of stainless that cleans easily and won't rust. My biggest selling point though was the VST .. it really does a great job.

    Looks like it will do the job just fine. How are you liking it? I just picked up my first pellet smoker and man is it nice to just be able to set it and go. I'm coming from a WSM and Kettle charcoal setup for smoking. Plus with my propane, i got four grills on my patio lol. I would have went pitboss if it wasn't for a friend who gave me his employee discount on my new SmokeFire Sear+. Keep on smoking!

    @grillsergeant I just purchased & assembled one hoping you or anyone else could help me out, my question is the bottom of the barrel on the inside is it supposed to be welded or siliconed? I’m talking about where the side walls meet the bottom of the barrel on the corners and where you put the seat plates on top of. Thank you I called pit boss couldn’t get a straight answer. Mine has a black silicone and I’m worried about when you bring it up to 500 degrees the silicone will replace chemicals or melt off. Thanks again

  • @time5805
    @time5805 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just got one myself. My understanding is you have to adjust your P setting in “Smoke” mode at start up. Then theoretically when you put your grill into VST during the cook you should see the difference.

    • @timjones147
      @timjones147 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love my pellet grill. But it’s not a smoker. So I have a basket and a hexagon tube which I can patch with my favorite wood chips and pallets to create smoke. With that simple modification my pellet grill now I can totally control my temper and the amount of smoke I want so get yourself a basket or an additional smoke tube to help you with a true smoke flavor.

    • @GrillSergeant

      So the PSE is short for Pro Series Elite. The difference between the Pro Series 1600 and Pro Series 1600 Elite is a stainless steel parts, along with the new rapid fire ignightor and VST (smoke mode)

      You can put pellets in a smoke tube and burn it for 10-15 minutes then blow the flame out also. I lay mine on the front lip edge of the drip tray under the bottom grate. Gives a lot more smoke.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know some aftermarket companies will make a heat diffuser that covers the burn pot but if you use it you loose the ability to open sear your food. I have a video showing a biscuit test to see the “hot” and cold spots of the grill, so you really don’t need an extra heat diffuser under the sear plate.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I could only have 1 smoker, it would be the Pit Boss Pro Series Elite 1600. Rapid Fire Ignitor gets the smoker up and running in no time. Add in the pull out racks and smoke mode, this smoker is a beast. I cook on it 3-4 times a week.

    I bought mine a couple of months ago. I had to order it from lowe's because they are not in stock here. I have owned several pit boss smokers and I tell the warranty service is the main reason I'm still buying them. If you ever have a problem you😢 can call them and they will quickly send you what you need without any hassle. Now I go and spend around 1500 for this 1600pse and not very happy so far. The first day I have it I do the burn off and when I go to shutdown it stays in the shutdown mode. Two hours later I finally unplug it. I wait 30 minutes and turn it back on and set it for 250 degrees. Once it reaches 250 I go back and shutdown. It still does the same thing and won't come out of the shutdown mode. Called pit boss and they explained to me I needed a new control unit. Now I haven't even been able to cook on my new 1500 dollar smoker because I have to wait on a new controller to get here and then I've got to install it. Hey, things happen. No big deal. I tell my family it could always be worse. Now I've cooked a dozen or so butts twice that many ribs and chicken. A week ago I was cooking 2 slabs of ribs and when I went to take them off for the wrap I noticed a upside down pig on the control display. It says fan not working properly shutting down. Luckily the smoked part of the cook was complete so all I had to do was finish it off in the oven. Called pit boss and am told I needed to replace the fan and they had it in-stock. A week goes by and I called them back only to learn that the fan is on backorder and have no way of knowing when it's coming in. This is not the response I expected from pit boss. As much as I hate to I guess it's time to call corporate.
    While this unit was working I was really satisfied with it. I used 6 temp probes to check temperature regulation and hot spots and was impressed. My family has really enjoyed the meals I've cooked on it. I'm still not sure on how to use the smoke settings but I'll learn. I'm really hoping to solve this problem because I don't want to have to go with a Yoder or trager.

      @@GrillSergeantI just bought mine last month and I’m having inconsistent temp readings unlike my old 1150ps2 which held exactly where it was set.
      On this new Elite, do you run it in smoke mode all the time or do set the smoke mode/P setting and go back to PID? I’m having are hard time keeping consistent temp which is off by 50-100 degrees Higher than I have it set to. I had it set to 225 and P setting 6 which was around 350 on my ambient temp (pit boss temp said 225) then I set my temp to 150 with the P setting set to 6 (my pit boss said it was at 150 but my ambient probe was reading 250)
