You can do steel cut oats on a pan on the stove it just takes a little bit to boil them. They have a chewier texture even when fully cooked.

The artichokes are good on pizza and they're good in salads and eggs so they're good on everything.😊

Nice haul. I'm so glad channels like yours are out there trying to take the stigma out of food pantries. The amount of judgment and misinformation about using them is crazy. I've taken over running our church's blessing box and even my pastor made a comment about a family who stopped in a nice car to take food "not needing it". I'm not sure if it was proper of me to correct my pastor but I told him we can't judge by someone's car.

Put the artichokes on a sheet pan or cookie sheet. Put olive oil, salt, pepper on them. Roast in 350 degree oven until lightly brown. Yum

Really good haul. Love the Girl Scout cookies. Thin mints is the best. Brings back memories from when I sold cookies. ~ Money Saving Mama

Those artichoke hearts can be either
    - mixed with cream spinach, cheese, parm, and seasonings + paired with chips as a dip
    - steamed, chopped, and maybe flattop grilled or baked alongside other veggies (either hibachi style or roasted veggies) or
    - my personal favorite, combined with cream cheese, spinach, garlic salt, onion powder (and/or sauteed onions), and black pepper and used to make a spinach and artichoke quesadilla, which pairs great with bang bang sauce (like the kind you'd get on fried shrimp, made of mayo, sweet chili, and sriracha)

I haven’t made steel cut oats in a while, but when I did, I liked to add chopped apples, cinnamon, and some sugar (you could use sweetener of your choice):, and cooked it overnight in the crockpot.I ate it warm with a little milk on it. It’s also good cold, almost like a baked oatmeal. Not everyone likes it cold, but I do.

Could you mix the artichoke with spinach, cream cheese, and some shredded cheese and make a dip? You can even stuff chicken breast with the dip and bake it. Turns out really tasty!

I just harvested a bunch of garlic and leek scapes. That’s the flower and stem part that shoots out and curls over. Omg they are so tasty! I baked them with a little bacon grease and salt and they were very similar to asparagus and greens beans, except the leeks were very sweet. I’m looking forward to trying them with different flavors like butter, herbs, Italian seasoning, soy sauce, teriyaki, and with Parmesan cheese.

Artichoke hearts are good dipped in mayo, you can also cut them up small and put on a pizza or add to ab omelet, or salad.

I use artichoke in our fav recipe weekly!! Chicken breast, dump a jar of pesto on them, throw the artichoke and tomatoes on top and bake! It's amazing, we also throw cheese on top bc the kids love the broiled cheese on top! Serve with rice!

Look at from scratch teriyaki marinade and sauce before you open that pineapple and its pineapple juice. Both the pineapple and the limes have juice which is a flavored acid that provides the tenderizing in marinades.

You should definitely soak the steel cut oats overnight in water mixed with some plain yogurt. This makes them digestible. Sally Fallon wrote a book years ago “Nourishing Traditions” that helped me learn this trick and many others. Great haul. God bless 🙏🏼❤️

I was going to suggest pizza topping for the artichoke hearts. They have an aftertaste but I love it. They are also good in salads and with white pasta, like you would use broccoli or chicken.

My first thought for those pineapple tidbits was ambrosia salad. Pineapple with mandarin oranges or really any fruit you have (I've even used canned fruit cocktail if I didn't have any fresh fruit) and mix in Cool Whip and it is a nice cool salad for the summer. My Mom adds small marshmallows and flaked coconut, but I prefer just the Cool Whip and the fruits. Lots of great items in the haul today. So many ways you can use it. Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

Steel cut oats 1\3 cup oats to 1 cup water bring to a boil then simmer for 25minutes until water is evaporated. Toss in raisins or cranraisins before boiling adds sweetness. Serve with a scant tsp of sugar (brown adds flavor) instead of milk i like unflavored yogurt. This is for one serving. I prefer steel cut over rolled oats because there is texture to it. If i have leftover, no sugar added, i add it to my chicken treats. Mine free range but come when they are called because they get treats (veggies, the oats, banana)

Hey, we enjoy your videos. I have really been thinking about going to find a local food pantry, because I got laid off January 30th. But I get laid off every 4 years do to elections, the kind of career I have, state and federal contracts depend souly on weather the Democrats or Republicans are in office. Such as pipeline vs green energy and the kinds of contracts either generate. But I do worry about me going because every 4 years, I end up turned down or the government run places giving them want me to pay back, because of my income previously to that date. Not sure how far back government or state food pantry goes back. But regardless I have not had any income in around 4 months, but the government or state has given me so many issues in the past for trying to go through them. Just food for thought on people that ain't working but made 44k a month previously
