    this was a fantastic game when it came out! the multi-layer feature was very unique and as a kid I remember being very excited because it represented a new type of game at the time.. It was like combining checkers with Stratego...

      Castle and Kaylin it's still a smart design. I'm shocked no one else has thought of implementing it into others board games before?!

    I had this game when it came out, along with Sub Search and Carrier Strike. I loved all those strategy games, but oddly enough I never had Battleship. Great memories.

    Oh I actually barely remember this game as I was under ten yrs old around that time,but I think I recall it from the giant Sears Christmas catalog book toy section. Its interesting game with the two levels.

    I remembered this game! Kinda like Stratego! I wish I still had my Dungeon Game and Crossbows and Catapults!

      Just subscribed to your channel earlier. LOVE vintage games! You've convinced me to buy Carrier Strike and I'm debating on getting the Destroy Death Star game as well. (Love you dice additions to the game)
      You have an impressive collection AND a fan of Star Wars! We have a lot in common sir!
      Thanks for the comment!

      Yes Thanx for Saying that! I Sub’d Back. I don’t have the best vocal delivery and a vid takes a couple days to do lol But I do try to make it informative and interesting.
      Pick up DDS if you can. You’ll like Carrier Strike for sure. Someone on BGG put two boards and fleets together to recreate the Battle of Midway ;
      I also have Tank Command which is cool. Most of my stuff is original. I got some stuff on eBay or some for parts then sold the what was left. I also did that with a tin Marx Fort Apache playset.
      I got into board game mode now because I watched recent D&D Adventure system board game play on YT. I picked all four up for less than $40 each and two were MIB. I uploaded a couple vintage TSR D&D vids so that’s how I got the DDS D&D dice mod idea. That’s one where I could just flat out talk it thru without multiple takes or voice overs lol
      Your vid here is a good overview way to do it. i always end up getting detailed though ;
      I have cool games like my sister’s Which Witch? my WDW Pirates of the Caribbean game frorm the ride’s gift shop in 74. Huggin’ the rail racing game from the 50’s which was my Dad’s that has lead miniatures. And a Star Trek game from the Motion Picture you don’t see all the time.
      I think the next one is going to be a 90’s Hot Wheels NASCAR Electronic Race game I shot a couple years ago. I’ve shot a lot of stuff but never completed them. I also broke out my 80’s Entex Electronics Galaxian and Baseball games. Kidnda hard to shoot the electronic games but fun. i still have my original ColecoVision ; Dark tower is one I got on eBay because my friend had it growing up.
      I’m going to go back thru your vids. the Donkey Kong card game was fun!

      Tank Command is a GREAT game! I thought I had a review on it already until you just mentioned it! Man! I could've sworn I made one too! I'll have to correct that in the coming months. It's a great game!
      Just bought a copy of Carrier Strike today! Can't wait for it to come in.
      Speaking about electronic games, I bought the Omega Virus for a steal at an antique store a while back, only to find out the electrical part didn't work. Pretty bummed about it. But I guess electronic games don't age well when it comes to board games.
      I plan on reviewing a lot more vintage games on my channel, but will put in a "newer" review every so often. I really like your videos. Filmed very professional and are extremely informative. I doubt I could do any better. But I try to put a personal touch on the reviews whenever I try.
      Have you played any of the 3M games from the 60's? I recently reviewed Feudal on my channel but Mr. President is a GEM I can't wait to do a review on, later down the road.
      Do you play board games a lot? I'm headed to GenCon (again) this year to look for newer games to play. Sadly "vintage" games do not get much love there and it's a shame. There's some really enjoyable stuff out there in the vintage market!

      Nice! I'll be anxious to see a Carrier Strike vid.
      My friend fixes 80's arcade games and makes multi-cades. He's an appliance repairman who trades service calls with people he finds out have 80's arcade games that don't work. He very often fixes it with a $2 part then has a $2,500 game to sell on craigslist! He lives out of state but ironically gets a lot of his parts from a place down the street from me.
      I held my breath with the Entex Galaxian game. It takes 4 C batteries. But it works. Demo mode didn't seem to work so I can live with that.
      Yeah your personal touch on your vids makes a big difference so you don't have to get super detailed.
      I actually haven't played a lot of my board games until recently doing these vids. They literally sit on bakers racks right in front of me if I use the laptop upstairs. I think I show it in one of my D&D vids at the end.
      I've never been to Gen-Con but some of the old D&D modules were made for those conventions I think in tournament play.
      I'm playing the 195 Huggin the Rail race car game right now. It goes left to right instead of turn left lol It feels like a horse race game because the track is an oval dirt track. It has a neat Lane Locator that's hard to explain but will be fun to show.
      Have fun at Gen-Con and I look forward to a vid!

    It's not a clear tray, but Spinderella uses a mechanism kind of like this.

    intersting game. Used to play it with my dad in the early 70's, which was kinda weird , as he had been a chopper pilot in Vietnam , and saw alot of combat. Plus my God-father and his best friend died flying a Huey , shot down over there.
    I still got the dice from my old game, not the game though.

    Hey Matt! Digging the old school board games! Got a POTU question. Why is it that everyone seems to be hating on the Ghostbusters Rebooot/Remake but are perfectly happy with The Force Awakens which largely took its plot from Star Wars A New Hope?

    Kinda like a mix between checkers, Stratego, Sub Search, Battleball, and Queens Gambit (with the multi levels). I dig it!
