As much credit as we give to Geoff Tate, Queensryche as a group is just fantastic. Geoff is not the only one that deserves praise and accolades. Although I love Geoff and he was the voice that helped me all through high school, the songs/albums should be given credit as well. These guys were such good song writers and no one seems to appreciate the band/songwriting ability these guys had.

    • @terryc7142
      @terryc7142 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@philkakid5617 Exactly! The songwriting is actually more important than the singer. When you get both the songwriting of DeGarmo and the voice of Tate, you make history. Once DeGarmo left, the songwriting clearly wasn't what it had been.

I've been saying for years that the greatest music is where there's a blending of genres and styles. In this case, we have a band who normally trades in heavy rock showing that they have roots in both Folk and Classical as well as being versed in the semi-Psychedelic of the later Pink Floyd. I'm not normally a Queensryche fan, but this is a gorgeous track. I'll even use the over-used term, a masterpiece. Musically and lyrically, absolutely perfect.

Geoff Tate reveals his vulnerable side.
Orchestration by the late Michael Kamen. If you hear similarities to the orchestration of Comfortably Numb as performed by Pink Floyd, you are right ✅: he orchestrated the music for that and the remaining songs of The Wall.
In 1990, the sane year when Queensryche released Enpire, Kamen composed and orchestrated the music for the soundtrack to the movie 🎥 Die Hard 2.
The next year, he worked the same roles for the movie 🎥 Hudson Hawk, again starring Bruce Willis, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, writing ✍ Everything I Do I Do It for You with Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange, and Kamen also orchestrated Nothing Else Matters for Metallica.
To get the essence of the late Michael Kamen, I played 6 songs consecutively, which he had some involvement: 1 Daryl Hall singing Dreamtime 2 Metallica performing Nothing Else Matters 3 Pink Floyd performing Comfortably Numb 4 Queensryche performing Silent Lucidity. 5 Bryan Adams singing Everything I Do I Do It for You. 6 Bryan Adams (again) and the late Paco de Lucia performing Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman 👩

a possible reason for the comparisons to Pink Floyd was the fact that the composer of the orchestrated section of this piece was composed by Michael Kamen, a composer who had worked with Aerosmith, after this recording Queen for the Album A kind of Magic, and who scored the original Highlander score as well as scoring the Orchestrial pieces in Pink Floyd's The wall. He had helped Geoff and Chris Degarmo with the arrangement, and would do so again for their track "Real World" The Voice speaking guiding you to achieve the Lucid dreaming is Geoff Tate with his voice pitched down to give it that dream like quality.

Record it in the present tense.
Put it into a permanent form.
If you persist in your efforts,

@@palantir135 - Thank You. I researched it and I stand corrected. In the end if you look at all the words to the song it is about a child having a bad dream and how to control it.

2 songs per stream, and you could knock out the legendary Queensryche's classic "Operation Mindcrime" LP fairly quick, and it would be the most epic Reaction series, ever done on the Y-Tubes!

Operation Mindcrime, yes. BUT, do Operation Livecrime instead. It's too easy to say what he pulls off on Mindcrime is the result of post-production. When you hear Livecrime you hear the slight imperfections that highlight just how amazing how his voice is. Or was. He probably can't do it anymore, but it's been 30 years.

What I love about true artists is that you can’t fit them into one clear box. I love when people discover that the same group that brought you Into the Eyes of a Stranger also can switch it up entirely and level you with Silent Lucidity. That’s the power and palette of an incredible artist such as Queensryche and the vocal performance of Geoff Tate in particular! Enjoy!

I think it's Geof Tate himself who does the spoken part, but I'm not sure. I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever made. Thank you.

When I was a preteen I started having a recurring dream that got more vivid when I began taking LSD in my midteens. It ended in my late 20s when I quit doing drugs and started self schooling myself for a career working on various types of vessels. I remember the dreams main character was a Yeti being chased by cops in the hills of northwest Reno. It got away by hiding in a huge bullfrog hole dug into the bank of a leech infested pond. 😮😮😮

You might also give Moody Blues "Nights In White Satin" a reaction...if you can find it in some versions (probably not any of the live renditions) there is a poem after the song. I think you'll enjoy.
