Power is inevitable. If real brothers can not get over it, a step brother wouldn't definitely be over it. Secondly Osman didn't have a mother that means Kosem was her mother as he called her Valide. If time permits, go back to the series and watch carefully when Mahfiruze was alive, Kosem did not pay such importance or love to Osman, she still considered him as one of Ahmed's son but no such affection but after Mahfiruze's death, things changed and she started seeing Osman as her son. Therefore, if Osman ascended the throne, she assumed he would not do anything to her sons as she would be the Valida and she could guide him but we saw how things turned out with Osman killing Mehmet. Also, talking about Mustafa, Hurrem could never trust him, big reason being Mahidevran and how easily he was manipulated by her. I don't know if you remember or not, one of Hurrem and Mustafa's scene in the garden where they walked together. There Mustafa said to be careful of him as he knows she has children of her own. Before this, Hurrem was never against Mustafa, she never tried to do anything to him but this statement of him warned her that if time comes Mustafa however a great brother he seems to be upfront, will not be there for her children. Remember after this particular scene only did she try to poison him.

anastasia and this kosem is my favorite character literally ever written in any type of capacity bc she's the epitome of a strong-minded, caring, empathetic, sympathetic person. she took in a little baby when she could've schemed to have him killed. and in return, he kills her first born biological child and sends her away. but, bc her love for him was so strong she still chose to forgive him and see past it so she didn't lose two sons at once. this kosem would've never done any of the things the older kosem did. but kosem as a character is sooo well written. the writers outdid themselves. they didn't disappoint, even until the very end. also, this edit is so gorgeous and heartbreaking. very terrific job!

Osman soon became suspicious of kösem, but if you look at the beginning of the second season, Murad did not even suspect that his mother had done anything against him. I think Murad and kösem's love was more beautiful, but I can not say which one was more, because we can not say which child the mother loves the most !!
She did not predict the future...this is one of Ottoman's laws.. as soon as a Sultan rises to the throne he has to kill all the remaining heirs of the throne...Ahmed was an exception coz he was a minor around 12 when he ascended the throne that's why Mustafa's life was spared in case something happened to Ahmed so that the Ottoman bloodline would not be jeopardized.
