    Queens of the Stone Age is one of the best rock bands out there. And they are still together releasing new music, like even this week. Amazing band.

    Band is still together, they are releasing a new album this week, samples are posted on their socials. Great sound, all the way back to Kyuss.

  • @MrDeadstu
    @MrDeadstu ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Josh Homme is a musical genius. He was in Kyuss, formed Queens of the Stone Age, formed Them Crooked Vultures, AND formed Eagles of Death Metal (but, ironically they are not death metal, more groove-rock?) with his friend Jesse Hughes. ( EoDM were the band playing when terrorists attached the Bataclan theatre in Paris, France November 13, 2015. 90 concert goers were killed.) Josh also made The Desert Sessions, collaborating with seemingly random artists, secluded in the desert, composing and recording whatever music they create. There are some real gems.
    "Little Sister" & "Go With the Flow" are pretty popular QoTSA songs too. I recommend "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" or "Better Living Through Chemistry".
    QoTSA's music is quite varied, Josh is quite imaginative.Almost any song by QoTSA is damn good, take your pick, you won't be disappointed.

  • @lindacoy7165
    @lindacoy7165 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    This is their commercial hit. Dave Grohl and Josh are friends. When the Foo Fighters were not getting along and having issues recording one of their albums, Dave took a break to work with QOTSA before coming back. He drummed on this album and briefly toured with them. He also drummed on some songs from their masterpiece album called …Like Clockwork.
    Josh learned guitar from a polka teacher. However, this is the only song where I hear polka rhythms. “Mexicola” is very badass. “Keep Your Eyes Peeled” is very dark.
    The band is together. Their new album comes out next week, and they just announced a tour. I’ve seen them live three times. Great every single time.

    • @Xeroforte
      @Xeroforte ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, it's really weird. I get that it isn't to everyone's taste but the level of negativity is strange. It's like people forgot it doesn't have to be some technical progressive cookie monster metal or Ariana Grande singing in order for it to be music.

    This is an iconic song... amazing riffs and Dave's drumming is out of this world!! And an insane video!
    Also that small bass solo always reminds me of "Flash Gordon" from Queen when they have a very similar tune when the say "Flash Gordon approaching... What do you mean Flash Gordon approaching?..."

  • @ignoblesavage5559
    @ignoblesavage5559 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    re: that riff sounding "polka" to Rick Beato--Josh Homme learned polka-style playing from his earliest guitar teacher, i believe, which fires a lot of his slightly off-kilter riff writing. they've always had a unique sound. also, it's always been a 4, 5, or even 6 man band (when Screaming Trees' Mark Lanegan shared vocal duties with Homme).
    so they have SO MANY killer tracks throughout their history.

    I really like this song, when I first saw the video all those years ago I did not click that the Drummer was Dave Grohl, but I was really impressed by the drumming in the song, the video was fun to watch. This song has been in my play list for years and will continue to as well. Now I'd like to suggest to you that your return to The Warning, especially their live performances at Teatro Metropolitan of their songs Disciple, Enter Sandman, Animosity and Choke. See just how far they have come and how fantastic they are. Just a suggestion.
