This has finally clicked in my brain. Dat and dit end in "t" like het. Deze and die end in "e" like de. As long as I know the gender of the noun, I will have it. 😀

De auto is 'the' car, die auto is 'that' car. Also, die is used in sub-clauses, for example: Het is de auto die ik gebruik. (It's the car that I use). Hope it helps!

Very interesting Video. Did I learn correctly that (unlike in German) you do not have a differentiation between female and male articles?
If the answer is yes, my actual question is (the more interesting one): Is there any gender debate in the Netherlands?
To explain: In germany folks are currently going crazy about not differentiating between male or female in order to include all thinkable sexes in linguistic genders.
For example Instead of "der Bundeskanzler" or "die Bundeskanzlerin" it is asked to say or write "Bundeskanzler*in"

Yes, that is a lot less fanatical compared to Germany. We have Universities that do not accept doctoral thesises unless the include the female terms. Even if the topic is about prostate cancer.
