I absolutely love how you personally can not enjoy something at all (like Heat here) but still be able to recommend it for people that would like it, so many other people fail to do this and just see things on a personal scale for them.
Yeah - agreed. As someone who owns and enjoys Heat, it was a really fair and straightforward shake. To me the quality of Heat comes from all the extra stuff - modules, weather, championship. The base game itself is fine and if that was all there is I’d not enjoy the game as much.
The appeal of the gameplay of Heat is the gear management, the heat management, and how you take turns. It’s definitely more than just play cards and go around the track. It’s a game of card counting and resource management.
good reviews! I have tried Agricola on BGA and wondered how ot would play at 3 or 4. We played a 2 player. I like Caverna too though, but Agricola seems more of a puzzle to me, but might be lack of familiarity. I liked it though!
You can't tell me what to do! I've decided to purchase all of these games without hearing anyone else's opinion. Just try and stop me! For real tho. I love Agricola and I'm a big fan of the Farmers of the Moor expansion. I don't really play it enough to need the variety that the abc decks add but if you do end up getting them I would love to see a review/comparison video.
Boy, you've almost convinced me to purchase Agricola (not this monster). I've heard it is too long and too boring of a game in the past, but your review has me intrigued. I would try it on Board Game Arena, but I feel I am way too rushed when playing any game there. Thanks for giving me something to think about with this game.
Thank you for the video! I agree! Orichalcum is fantastic - a delight of wise design decisions, snappy and fun. I disagree (respectfully)! I think Heat is a fantastic racing game. I disagree with how you describe it, which makes me wonder if you approached it with the right mindset. It's not a "deck building" game; it is a hand management (or deck management) game - you need to navigate what's in your hand and deck. And "heat" is not to be avoided - it's a resource that is meant to be wisely spent at opportune times, though at the cost of it now being part of your deck (and needs to be navigated). Did you try any of the upgrade cards? The are fun powers with which to put the "pedal to the metal"! Enjoy!
I misspoke perhaps calling it deck building that's fair. But my expectations were very open going in, I wanted to enjoy it but I just found the card play and the actual movement around the board to be boring. I really didn't enjoy the game at all, but I do understand that others love it and that's fantastic. The other modules will be fun to explore and I'd play it if that's what people wanted to play, it just wasn't for me and that's OK.

Excellent stuff as always Matthew. Glad to hear a different review on Heat. I've not played Agricola either. Farm Club looks interesting.
The pig game looks great!
I get the same vibe from heat.
Orichalcum though ive nearly pulled the trigger on, maybe you have helped me pull that trigger now.
Orichalcum is indeed great.

Farm Club was fun to play twice, but I don´t think I need to play it again.
a family game really!
Farm club feels like it would fit nicely into my collection. Had passed me by, thanks Matthew!

@@MattyJude Sounds good - fortunately, so many great games to enjoy. Best wishes!
Awesome as always
You literally call Orichalcum a racing game at 1:10, and then say you hate a racing games when you get to Heat. I'm confused.
He said it's a "race to get 5 points fastest" whereas Heat is an actual game about racing cars down a track.
In Tennis you race to win 3 sets first. I wouldn't call Tennis a racing sport.
Either your hearing needs testing or you don't understand the definition of the word literally.
Ok. I can appreciate that. Thank you.
