@@csquaredboxing Hey man, awesome video! I was wondering if home depot cut the pinewood for you, or did you have to do it yourself also? Again thanks for the video. Im looking to create a home gym. I have 3 boys who have gravitated towards boxing but the gyms closed here due to covid 19.
I did the same thing last year, I highly recommend placing a bag anchor on top of the 3 plates, it makes it so much more rebound resistant. I used the everlast double-end anchor (the one that has 'greatness is within' on the side). great video.
@@Living_Gr3 It's literally an anchor that connects to your heavybag, or double and bag from the bottom. If you type in "double end bag anchor" in Google you will see exactly what one is.

You definitely go all out and put a lot of time and effort into making your videos and you always post informative and amazing content. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I can tell you’re an awesome guy with a good head on your shoulders and you’re highly knowledgeable when it comes to boxing and you also come across as having a very outgoing, likable and friendly personality not to mention the fact that you’re not stuck up on yourself or think you’re better than everybody else like a lot of these bloggers are on here and that alone says a lot about you as person. It would be a privilege and an honor to actually meet you one day if I can ever make it to the Phoenix area. All of these other guys with their channels posting boxing workout videos and reviews could learn a lot from a real gentleman like you!
Thanks brother, appreciate the kind words. I’m just a student of the game like everyone else and appreciate everyone that supports the channel and our sport.
@csquaredboxing your reply just proved I was right about you. You have no ego and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being modest m’man and one of the reasons I put your channel a step above the others is because of the way you can breakdown and explain things in detail. That shows me that you’ve done your homework and research. Btw, I’m a student of the game myself. But due to the fact I’ve never had any real coaching and no gym training/experience even though I try hard at it I’m still a beginner and probably always will be one simply for that reason
Excellent build! Rebound looks solid, very little vibration, and I love the woodgrain-finish; it looks like it should have a Cowhide Reyes hanging off it - real lavish!
VERY DETAILED VIDEO. ONLY ONE COMMENT MT, ITS GOOD THE THE ANCHOR BOLTS ON TOP TO THE WALL ARE AS STOUT AS THEY ARE, BECAUSE ( I CLD BE WRONG ONG) BUT THE LOWER BOLTS GOING IN ON ANGLES CLD BE JUST CATCHING THE FRONT OF THE STUD. MAY HAVE BEEN BETTER TO HAVE MARKED HOLES BEFORE HANGING! EITHER WAY,GREAT JOB!
Great video! I've been using like a $100 platform that is extremely thin and rattles every time I hit the bag so this is a great solution for that, thanks for taking the effort to do this! :D
Hey, great tutorial! I had a slightly different set of circumstance, but used your basic template and just riffed off of it to meet my needs. Came out great and I thank you for it. You have an excellent channel here.
Thanks for all this, sir. Just now starting the research & formulation process over here. I'm in Germany (american, from Illinois) and we have concrete walls & the like. So I have a different set of challenges but the general design you show here to get the actual structure is fantastic. Thanks for your contribution.
If one wanted to get fancy the could rub in some wood filler on the sides and sand it down to a smooth edge then stain. The result would look like one piece (store bought)
Getting ready to start this project and really want it to look like one piece. Do you have any suggestions for the filler (ie. Bondo vs. DAP). Does the color matter since it'll be stained afterwards? TIA.
Awesome Work brother!!! Thank you for sharing this with us, keep up with this amazing work. I hope I can make my own platform this weekend, have a great week!! Regards!
I just made a weights bench from wood my nephew seagulls from the factory where he works. I paid $14 AUD for some brackets and screws. My bench will last me forever now. The price of Gym stuff since the lockdown here in Australia has become outrageous IF you can even find it. Making your own gear is the way. Great stuff, big thumbs up buddy!
Prices as of 12/30/2023: GRAND TOTAL $132.60 3 24" round boards (Menards): $17.48 X 3 = 52.44 swivel (boxer point brand on Amazon) 21.59 5/16* 3 quantity of 2 4-packs (Menards) 2.78 3/8 washers 24 pack (Menards) 1.89 shelf brackets (same as in video) (Home Depot) 2*7.98= 15.96 title speed bag , Amazon(looks similar to one in video) 37.94 grand total $132.60
well theres also a different a set of lag screws smaller ones that fit on the other side of the L bracket. He noted that it was 17/16 or 7/16? Isnt that bigger than the 5/16" hex head? from what I see it looks like 3/8 because 5/16 cannot fit on the other side of the L bracket.
I love your speed bag platform you built and I always wanted to do one like that, but I had no idea they had the perfect sized 24 inch round board already cut at Lowes and Hope Depot so that is awesome! I have limited tools so I was worried I would have to cut one out by hand. I may try and attach one to my Everlast stand also to see how that works, which would be a lot more sturdy than the particle board one, and ad pro swivel. Then maybe put one on the wall or two together since I have drywall, and not sure if the stud is in the right place yet as I need to buy a stud finder. I have been doing boxing, full contact karate, and kicking boxing for 40 years now since age 7, and MMA since 1993. But yeah great videos man keep it up!
@@csquaredboxing hey I watched your review on the gyro balance speed bag and I got one and I noticed you really have to hit it right and go slow and then I bought the title yellow bag that you did the review on, and that one's pretty much effortless and I noticed that it doesn't spin as much, but what would be a good bigger size bag to practice elbows and karate movements? And should I get a traditional swivel such as the cheap one that came on my Everlast platform or should I go ahead and buy a title traditional swivel?
Thank u for this I want a speed bag but could never found one that might not break but I seen this video and I’m going to build one thank u and u got a new subscriber
No vibration is nice. I like the 3 inch platform pal impressive. I'm thinking of taking my platform apart to add another slab of wood. That platform online is top dollar with that thickness. Thanks for the idea pal.
It's a pleasure to see young people making things themselves, rather than buying everything. One tip i would give you is to have pree marked and drilled the holes. Than you could use a hand ratchet to fit the screws. More difficult but they go in at 90° And you may need an extra pair of hands. None the less a great video, I congratulate you youn man. Ps, the little vibration you are getting is from the timber stud's in the wall, not from the frame. You can't do nothing about that.
If you ever have to move it or remount ...... get someone to hold the unit up in position ( with the level in place ) then use a pen to trace out the bolt hole positions . Remove the unit and drill your pilot holes nice and straight . Then hold the unit in place and get your bolts started using a ratchet instead of the impact . They go in nice and straight and grab the entire way in. Nice work btw.
Great job bud. I’m an ex boxer and my son is away on a fully paid scholarship to play NCAA D1 football but wants to do boxing 🥊 to stay in shape. Cheers 🥂

Great video-I may have missed it at the beginning but was the wood already precut round or did you have to have HD have to cut them? Also, can you add more wood layers (maybe 5) to make it sturdier if you wanted using the same process?
Thanks man, yeah these are pre cut to a round shape which is nice and will save you time and labor. You can add more layers of wood to make it thicker but you’ll probably have to run 4 bolts through it an addition to the wood glue to make sure they stay stuck together
I have a low storage area in my garage made of wood. It's like I have an 8 foot ceiling How could I mount this to that? Do you think I can get away with using 1 round wood drilled into it?
Just built platform yesterday, went with the everlast swivel tried it out works ok but kind of loud is there a way to quiet down or a better swivel you can recommend. Thanks.
Hi! Big fan of your videos! Would like to know how has this been holding for you now? Still sturdy? Did you end up having to put any weight on the platform eventually? Or any new modifications to keep it stable?
Very interesting! I'd like to do the same but with a little - maybe not so little - addition. Since I like to train outdoors and don't want to annoy the neighbors with the loud noise speed bags make, I'm thinking of a portable version similar to the portable basketball hoop. Do you think it's doable?
Rotate the "grain pattern" of the wood 90 degrees for each layer. Should make a stronger and more solid drum when finished.
Thanks for the advice good to know
