Full of pleasure. Ideal expression of Raga Yaman. really gives me the peace of evening, with immense Calmness, which touches deep of my soul. No doubt to say best sitarist of this time.
I had privilege of videoing this private concert in a conservatory in London. Budhaditya Ji had only just got this Surbahar from a friend and immediately picked it up and started playing so perfectly. Inspirational performance and a true master and genius.
alzhammer1 Really? That could be possible only if the likes of Annapurna Devi, Buddhaditya Mukherjee and Imrat Khan were to have taken a sabbatical...which they didnt!

Prafulla K Basu - The baaj adopted by an artiste will naturally evolve as per the vocal idiom that inspires them. In this case, Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee is inspired by khayal gayaki and he has every right to utilise the instrument as it suits him. Enjoy his mastery of meend and your jealousy will evaporate. Loving Mushtaq Ali Khan sahab's music doesn't prevent me from admiring this great maestro of our times who has a totally different approach.
A great performance. But in my opinion the real god of Surbahar is still Imrat Khan. He actually took a godly form in the seventies when he played the surbahar. The other one I have heard is Ustad Alauddin Khan's younger brother Ayat Ali Khan. Unfortunately in the anti music atmosphere of East Pakistan, where he used to live, his genius withered away.
On any day, Annapurna Devi was miles ahead from any of the names mentioned - a glimpse of her mastery over the instrument is audible in the few clips available over Internet (albeit poor audio quality of the recordings). In my opinion, she was the "Goddess" of Surbahar. Saying this, I am a great admirer of Ustad Imrat Khan and Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee too!
listen to amma Annapurna devi recital of mani khamaaj.u ll get the answer.an egoist insecured man has killed the greatest gift for the hindustani musical world.
This man is an unqualified genius. The beauty and sweetness of tone in his playing is unparalleled.

Wow!
He plays Surbahar like Imrat Khan did, like a big Sitar.
Waah
Description slightly inaccurate. This is his own surbahar. He can be seen playing it in many videos.
Do please give us all links on here.
It’s not I was the guy recording this and Budhaditya Ji did not bring his Surbahar tonEngland for this.
He is close to Annapurna Devi but she was the best..
alzhammer1 Really? That could be possible only if the likes of Annapurna Devi, Buddhaditya Mukherjee and Imrat Khan were to have taken a sabbatical...which they didnt!

dude....mata Annapurna Devi. period
Unfortunately we only have a few rare treasures of Devi-ji's playing to enjoy !?!?!?
