I’ve often thought that my infatuation 30 years ago with Robert Fripp’s album “Let The Power Fall” prefigured my interest in modular - there’s some bona fide modular style beeps ands boops in there for all that it’s actually a Les Paul, fuzz, volume pedal and two magnavoxes or whatever
Nice one, have two Morphagene and want this Stardust, but Im not so sure that this technique was developed by Eno/Fripp at first, Harmonia has implemented this technique a little earlier and Eno pushed it with Fripp.
Sounds really cool! Don’t know about the light up panel design though. But I love Morphagene so I’d probably enjoy this. Also a very amazing underrated looper is squid salmple. Powerful module that is!!!
Nice topic, man .. loopers .. having one, (or more) opens up another universe(s?) for modular. Owning a Bitbox Micro .. and pushing that into Beads, (fully wet, and using then using the "Density" (along with "Shape" and "Size") .. sort of gets there, too. That 2nd set of pulsing, determined by "Density" .. I would have never guessed how powerful that is, .. at times.
BTW, Pauline Oliveos, Karlheonz Stockhausen, and Terry Riley were working with the so called "Frippertron̈ics" system years before Brian Eno supposedly "developed it.
I've been watching your channel for a long time and I really like the quality of your sound. Do you think it's possible to achieve similar results using software? And do you use any post processing?
Hi Egor. Ableton Live has a looper instrument and the Simpler you can splice up. I am not familiar with the latest version, but I think the modern daws are now capable of modulating plug-ins from other plug-ins. You can probably also do it in VCV.
So are you planning on keeping the two Morphagenes? Do you intend to use them simultaneously with the Stardust? I'm curious as I've got a Morphagene, and having now seen the various videos people have posted of Stardust, it looks like a better version of what I have int he Morphagene, and I'm wondernig if you feel like there's anything the Morphagene does that Stardust doesn't?
Great video and overview - I got one recently and also love it- however I notice the module gets pretty warm to touch after it’s been running for a while - have you experienced that too?
Sorry for the late reply but it took me some time to check. I kept StarDust on power during the night and when I woke up it was still cool. I am not sure, but it sounds like you need to go to the Qu-Bit support or forum on Discord. It's a Daisy Seed. It's doing nothing to get hot about.
They are actually quite similar but the Cosmos is more 'freeform'. You can also fade older loops, you'd have delay, reverb and grains. To be honest, Cosmos sounds a bit better thanks to the high end Burr-Brown DAC. In a modular environment, StarDust adds clocked operations, tons of FX on the loop, the varispeed knob (which can be chosen on Cosmos if you install a special firmware) and the awesome slew tape start/stop. I have (and love) them both. Cosmos is amazing, but StarDust can do a LOT more.
I’m generally not into loops as I find they are difficult to use creatively. Capturing static music moments, espcially rhytmic ones feels like I should be playing with a band instead of a looper. Unsync’ed loops are nice though, especially when starting with a long blank loop. If you do that before a performance, you are coing to have à surprise Even if you play solo. And how many Time can you really surprise yourself??
Your liveset was totally awesome and amazing, just like your videos. It was an honour to see and hear it. Please play live more often! ❤
You re spoiling us today thank you ! 🙂🙃🙏
Damn, no new modules for 2025, but this Stardust module looks very tempting!
Wonderful sounds

I have one and love it, but I prefer my && Wear and Tear over it.

Sold my Morphagene as I literally never used it, and ordered mine the other day, another month until it arrives, can't wait
I understand that one is modular, and the other is a pedal, but how does Stardust's "Frippertronic" mode compare to Soma Cosmos?

you didn't mention king crimson. if somebody knows mister fripp because one of the greatest bands called king crimson. stardust is my module of 24
