Brother, I’ve had that mount on my f-150 for over 2 years now and had it on the first bolt you showed. When I saw your video I realized it supposed to go in the upper bolt. I immediately went and moved it.
Nice clean install, but that little radio could have been plugged into the 12v outlet inside the center console. A CB draws very little power. My son is using the same radio in his truck.
FiddesModsTV could you by chance put a list of those parts you have for this CB? I was curious to see the setup of all the parts and how much it'll roughly cost to get it all assembled together. Thank you!
What was the NMO cable you ordered from HRO? I think I need to order something similar to punch through my F150 firewall. Great video. Thanks in advance.
I believe it's the Larson NMO-FME. Call your nearest HRO and ask for the Larson NMO cable that has the screw-on PL259 if that's not the right part number. It's been a long time since I worked there.
I use rtv silicone and fill in gaps then smooth it out with spit, trick learned from crew chief on old f4 seal replacement .I'm gonna try this soon my parts r in
Comet or NCG. They make a few brackets special for different vehicles. I got mine from Ham Radio Outlet, but you can get them from other retailers as well.
Thank you for the quick response. I'm in the process of adding a CB in my truck but could not figure out where to mount the antenna until I saw your video. Many thanks again!
FiddesModsTV thank you! I know it was a bit off topic but Iv always wanted a good carhartt but can never find one that looks good, I’ll take a look at them
Nope. I just measured the whip and called it good. I've followed the measurements on my ham radio gear and the SWR has been fine. For as much as I Tx on this, I'm not worried about it. It's mostly to listen for logging trucks.
It's a larsen, Not sure the model or range. I literally use it a couple times a year so I don't get run off a cliff by logging trucks where I shoot and hunt.
Well, this was a CB install... And I have been a licensed HAM operator since I was 12, got my general when I was 18... Although I haven't been active in 7-8 years, I maintain my gear and my license just in case. I'm not as educated as others, and I'm a bit rusty in some ways, but this was in no way a comprehensive "here's how you radio" type of video. This was a simple install of a CB. Something many people do.

My Mount showed Center Fender bolt Centererd on the hood. I just changed it. You saved my truck from being a DORK! Thanks!

SWR meter is the best way to set the cb.

I can recommend using a hydraulic crimp tool for those large wires.
Why didnt u just get a 12v plug that you could’ve wired to the cb and plugged in the phone charger in the center console?
Wanna come do a cb in my truck next

So once you put a hole in the grommet in the firewall, doesn’t that now create a potential place for water to enter?

Good Video man. Helped a bunch
Great video tutorial. Who is the manufacturer of the CB antenna mounting hardware/bracket ?
Comet or NCG. They make a few brackets special for different vehicles. I got mine from Ham Radio Outlet, but you can get them from other retailers as well.

This is what I used, they offer an NMO option also if you scroll down.

Where did u ground your radio? To the battery?
Dude, really. You have to coil that excess coax in a figure 8, you can’t just stuff it in there. Bad bad juju for that radio!
what kind of bracket is that? will this method work for 2018 raptor?
What cable did you use I’m having trouble finding one
What carhartt jacket is that?
Full Swing I think. It's been years since I bought it, and I've beat the hell out of it since. Still ticking with just one hole in it.
FiddesModsTV thank you! I know it was a bit off topic but Iv always wanted a good carhartt but can never find one that looks good, I’ll take a look at them
Did you check your SWR after the install?

What was the antenna mount you used. I have a 2019 f150 I would.like to try this on.
I know I'm pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Krew Leonardo i would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Krew Leonardo Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
what make and model is the cb antenna? how far is the range?
It's a larsen, Not sure the model or range. I literally use it a couple times a year so I don't get run off a cliff by logging trucks where I shoot and hunt.
Having removed the truck radio antenna, how does that work now?
Huh? I still have the truck radio antenna. It's on the other side.
I would like to suggest my installation option (watch video in four parts)

Please.....please do more research (ALOT) before getting into HAM....or doing another video like this.

FiddesModsTV I agree. Someone always knows everything. Similar to CNN, I just act like they don’t exist. Smile and wave. Great video!
@@StephenF. Just wanted to say thank you, I'm doing this same thing soon, and it's helpful here in 2024, don't mind the critics.
