That, old chap, was absolutely fascinating, and beautifully filmed and edited. What a rare treat to see someone who knows how to properly shoot - and use - drone footage too. Nice one.

You sir, are a natural-born historical documentary narrator!!!!!👏👏👏👏. Well shot, well researched, well edited. Drone footage takes it to a broadcast T.V. Standard. If I saw this as a short, 5-minute gap- filler between larger programs on The History Channel it wouldn't look out of place. Well done Andy and all those involved with it 👌👏👏👏👏❗️

Nice vid mate, I live just up the road a few miles away in Brighton and often walk my dog there, that was very interesting info you gave us and I can't wait to take my grandkids there and point it all out to them, particularly my granddaughter who is really keen on history! It's also one of my fishing spots there and there's loads of peeler crab for bait if you know where to look! There was a bloke fishing beside me one evening and every fish he caught he'd look at the side of it and say 'oh that's three and a half pounds', or 'that's six pounds two ounces' etc! I said 'how can you be sure how heavy they are, just by looking'?
He just laughed and said 'it's easy mate, every fish has got it's own scales'! Some nice gents in white coats took him off somewhere just after that and I never saw him again! :-D

Hi from Switzerland 😊. Thanks for that .. very interesting. Takes me back to visiting old worked-out Mines (I retired from the Industry) .. the Shaft Offices. Once vibrant, with the hustle and bustle of people coming and going .. getting on with their lives and such. Similar there, one would presume .. now abandoned and quiet. The people are gone .. moved on .. no longer .. the end of an era .. sad.

So squalid it had to be closed down ! That must have been really something, especially with the Dickensian link to the Medway Towns and Kent.

A sad end to a dream that a man never even got to see become a reality...
It seems there were quite a few places built up around England in ill advised locations such as that. I think you'd enjoy some of the islands off the coast of Ireland, partially deserted in some cases, entirely deserted in others, but at one time many were populated

    • @KentSurvival

yeah.. all the forts around here subsided and a lot of coastal stuff collapsing. Id love to get over one day.. I have an ever growing list of places to visit haha, thanks for watching mate

I've spent a lot of time in East Sussex but I didn't know this fascinating place existed. How typically despicable of the military to use a valuable piece of our historic heritage as a training ground.
The ingenuity of the design is just wonderful. Tide power being harnaced over 200 years ago, yet today we can't even get electricity powered by wave energy.
Yes, there is of course a link between the callous use of this important site and the dominance of fossil fuel companies.
