I feel like part of the problem is that Beam doesn't really accurately portray the crushing power of a monster truck, as we saw during the stuntman mission stream.
I mean, fair, but modern monster trucks are a _little_ lighter than the '80s trucks, have more sophisticated suspension, and don't hit cars with the violence those did. As well, modern _cars_ are _way_ stronger than the '70s malaise-era hoopties that were the victims of the early monster trucks. If you look at car crushes these days, the cars tend to hold up much better due to the higher-strength materials. in fact, the fact that parts actually fling off at a significant rate of knots when they do break is a major reason cars aren't used as often in modern monster truck shows.
I think the issue is that the cars in monster jam and whatnot have weakened roofs (also alot older cars are used) and stuff so they collapse, making the truck look like it weighs 70000LBS. These trucks don't weigh enough to crush normal cars if I'm not mistaken.
@PatrikGivens I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, low speed impacts are more accurate in BeamNG than high speed ones.
Well on the left side it says this Monster Truck is supposedly weighing 5.71 metric tons. That's well enough to crush any reasonable street vehicle, since IRL monster trucks usually weigh "only" about 4 tons. Anyway the bonnet of those cars do not look as if 1.4 tons (assuming equal weight on all wheels) just rolled over them, do they?
@@NFSHeldyou have to remember that there’s an engine under the hood, and that’s basically a block of solid metal with some cylinders inside. That doesn’t crush so nicely
At 31:00 your truck is floating and being carried along by the current. These monster trucks float, and the drive wheels do almost nothing to help propel you in the water. Try it in one of the pools on the grid map; they’ll just sit in one spot while the tires spin away.
Yep, the tyres displace enough water for them to float easily enough. And the devs added water flow physics too.
Highly recommend making the rear-steering manual and mapping them to different buttons to get the most out of the truck.

Another vehicle that might be good for one of these is the other end of monster trucks - slow, and unstoppably heavy. The gargantuan dump trucks and so forth, that I know there were and likely still are some amazingly detailed mods for. Even a sufficiently large loader or similar could give hell to these cars, but it would be a fight to slow them down enough to allow such vehicles to escape. Hills might be your friend due to sheer torque, be that not caring about the uphill compared to cars or letting it free at very irresponsible and dangerous speeds on the downhill, but it's hard to say. Would certainly be very, very interesting.
I’d love to see a “Survive the Beasts” vid. You are in a “normal” vehicle and the rest are in former Beasts. You get a few lives and 10 minutes
Or a super beast video, where he’s in something truly ludicrous like the Belaz dump truck, and everyone else is driving normal beast vehicles like T-series and buses.
Love to see the Gavril Durham get used as the beast in an episode, plenty of configurations and definitely strong, but has its weak points

BTW I work for Monster Jam and at that 32:00 mins. the truck would not driving IRL with the right front lower 4-link missing. The front axle house would be rolled up under the truck.

What happened in the river is quite simply that the truck floated with the current. The tires have so much air in them that they are buoyant enough to carry the whole truck

the probelm youre having at 30:54 is that the trucks floating. the tires while big arent quite as heavy as you might think and designed to be floaty/bouncy for the show factor combine that with the light weight frame and what not and yea she can float but not quite self propell herself well since it doesnt have big enough treads/paddles on the tires

But only the beast has to make it to the top. All the hunters have to do is either stop it, of make sure the flood drowns it.

This one lacked tension, with how easily it handled collisions with the hunters. There's also the part that collision where not devastating when you in a big vehicle impacted them, so there was no catharsis that way either)

This is such a fun game to watch. Hope we can get a livestream where everyone gets a chance to be the camera vehicle, similar to the GTA 5 ones.
I wish you could do more of these Stop the Beast Episodes with the other Monster Jam Trucks, if Grave digger is an option I'd like to see them try and stop that Iconic Monster Jam Legend of a Truck.

I think it would be interesting do to this with two smaller D-series, a Van, and maybe Laddo in a SBR4 and someone in a short body T-series, Idk if that would be too stacked against you lmao, but I think it would make things more interesting to have stuff closer to your weight/power level.

I run these monster trucks all the time, and I played with the controls so that pressing on the left analogue stick toggles between 2-wheel and 4-wheel steering. 2WS is better at high speed, and 4WS is much better when taking tight corners at low speed. It is much easier to control this was.

Alex's lack of knowledge about vehicles unfortunately came through, specifically monster truck suspension. IE, not knowing what a panhard bar is or that monster trucks float on water because of how much air is in the tires

I notice they only call Alex rude when he turns the tables on them. I really wish the damage display was a bit more accurate, it'll show all the body panels red when they get dented but lose an axle and it seems like there's no indication anything is wrong until your wheel comes flying off.

I've noticed that with your timer, whenever it has a 1 at the end of it, it lags for 2 seconds and then quickly jumps to the 9 to work normally until 1 again.

beasts vs monster beast?
Monster trucks acts more like a hovercraft than it does actually crushing vehicles.
The problem with monster trucks in games are, while yes they tend to do a good job with physics, they tend to go overboard, and essentially, they turn more into basketballs. Being far too bouncy focused, and taking away from the satisfying crunch that is the entire bread and butter of a monster truck. They glide or bounce over car's, rather than dig in deep with the tires and crush. This has been a thing for the longest in multiple games, which basically render them unplayable and not as fun as we'd like it to be.
I'd say, bring back the very first monster truck big foot, which was a mass monster with the giant tires and that would fair much better at crushing. Though, wouldn't be practical. But would be less bouncy.
